A public service announcement for everyone here! Don't got to DTD right now. It's a ugly mess. And the garage is absolutely ugly. When I say ugly, I don't just mean unattractive. It's a horrible cluster you-know-what and an awful blight/eyesore. I do not have the words to express how awful it is and how horrible DTD is right now. I have no IDEA what Disney was thinking when they decided to build that damn thing. It's just that bad.

If you are desperate to go to DTD, park at POR or Saratoga or ANY other hotel and bus over. Otherwise, there is NO reason to go there right now. It is a mess. There are much better places to visit to get your Disney shopping or dining fixes at. There is nothing really at DTD that you can't get at other places.

If you really need to get Lego, I would pay to go to Lego Land verses going to DTD. Is it a drive? Yes. But there you can get A. great discounts on admission and B. get to see cool Legos + the wonderful Cypress Gardens! Much better deal than the cluster that is DTD. Heck, I would even pay for the jacked up prices that you have to pay at Toys r us vs DTD. Or order my Lego through the Lego website. There is no Irish pub that is worth it, no sandwich place, no marketplace co-op or chocolate place that I would think is worth any of the headache that is going on there right now.

It's just THAT BAD folks. Messy and UGLY!!

They built the garages for a simple reason, DTD needs more parking, no way around that. And it's a parking garage, I don't expect it to be pretty, I expect it to look like every other parking garage out there.

Exactly. People complained there was never any parking at DTD, and now they're complaining that Disney fixed it. Maybe when everything is done they will do something to the facade to make it look less dreary, but it's always going to look like a parking garage. Sorry folks!

They are buiding several garages. The one that opened this month is down by AMC.

I think we all expect more from Disney, instead of your normal parking garage. It does look like one at Universal or the Outlet mall. Themed better, camoflaged in some way, especially when you take in to consideration how long it took to build it.

Traffic and congestion are still a problem, but the opening is a step forward.

Well said! Who cares what it looks like. As long as its functional and providing more parking for people. That was the point wasnt it? Parking was always an issue at DTD. They finally did something about it!

I haven't been down there in quite awhile. I have a question, I used to go and make a right into the parking lot ( Marketplace ) and then make the first left and park near World of Disney. Sometimes I parked in the lot further to the right over on the side by Earl of Sandwich, etc. Is this no longer an option? Is it closed for construction or anything ?

As far as the garage, don't know how anyone can complain about it. It's certainly needed.

Not sure what they could have done. They desperately needed the parking. I can't think of how on earth one can dress up a parking garage. Not sure I can get into "don't ever go there again because the parking garage is ugly." I don't like it much because it's still a construction zone but I still want to see it when it's done.

re- my question above...I broke the Dis rule didn't do a search for threads or open the link for info :rotfl2: so I found my own answer. Parking at Marketplace is still available until Dec 1, I better get my butt in gear this weekend. Now does anyone know off the top of their head the hours for the stores on the Marketplace side ? In particular the pin store ? Please don't make me do a search ;)

Not going until January/February. I hope it's better by then, but the parking garage will still probably be a piece of *stuff*:cool1:

Yes, i totally agree. As I said in another thread, they look identical.

I personally dont mind the look at all. :confused3 I dont understand what the fuss is about.

Maybe it does look like Universal, but it also looks like Disneyland /California Adventure. A parking garage is a parking garage. That's what it looks like to me! :rotfl2:

When we were there last year, a lot of the center of DTD was boarded off when you walked from the east side to the west side. Is that work finished?

I'm sure the garage is many things, but I think the OP's use of the word "blight" is improper.

I'm from Detroit. We know what blight is here. It's not a parking garage.

Just got back from WDW on Tuesday and this was the first time in 21 trips that I skipped DTD! I just had no desire to go this year. My parents went twice to have dinner at WGPE because they love it there so much. I was going to go on Monday morning, since we slept in that day and just take the boat from POFQ but there was too much wind and the boats weren't running so I said it was not meant to be this trip lol. I could have taken the bus but if I was getting on a bus it was going to be to a park and I went to DHS instead.
