Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

In June SAB was open until 11pm so you shouldn't have any problems if you want a late night swim...we closed down the pool a couple of times in fact. It was great...once I ate a whole banana split from Beaches 'n cream while the kiddos swam in the pool :)

Hope all you ladies get your A&E FP+....keep checking!! During our trip A&E wasn't really a priority but we did get to see them and it was probably the coolest experience of our trip. My youngest is 10 so we can close the parks and we decided around 11:30pm to see what the wait time was...and it was 15 minutes. We got in line and I was surprised to see how many little kids were in line! It was awesome! Anyways...we were next in line to see Elsa (you see Elsa first, then Anna) and the family ahead of had this little dude, must've been 5 or so, and once Elsa waved him over he started shouting "Oh my gosh...this is the best day ever...thanks so much Mom and Dad for bringing me to see Elsa...I'm so happy...this is a dream come true" Our family watched this little boy's excitement and many others were watching...I mean, this little dude was in seventh heaven!! He gave his parents a huge hug and looking around there were many parents bursting with tears...me, too!! It was one of those magical moments. I realized how special a moment this was for us to witness...we were all crying as we saw this little guy's dream come true. A few days later we did Frozen Summer Fun and by golly, the effect this movie has on kids is amazing. You read about in forums and online, and some say Disney has gone overboard with Frozen, well, now I knew why...it was for little guy and all those kids like him. Bravo, Disney!

Can someone explain to me what happens during these meet and greets? I can make my FP reservations in 10 days and not sure if it is something we should do? I have a 7 year old girl who does like frozen but she is more into thrill rides. We also have a bunch of ADR's that have character meals. This is our first time at Disney and I am kind of stressing out on how to plan our FP's. I don't want to be running around crazy trying to get to our FP's because I screwed up. Thanks

For a "quick" lesson on strategies and "all things FP+" you might want to check out this DIS thread...lots of good info for newbies as well as not-so-newbies...

What a great thread! I can't believe that I haven't found it before.

Our next trip to BCV will be 12/12-12/19 and 12/21-12/26 (we couldn't get the middle two nights and so are doing a split stay with AKLV).

This will be our first Christmas trip so I'm very excited!

Do you think this is outdated information or a case of it officially closing at a certain time but they really don't care if you use it as long as you stay quiet?
They have the pool hours posted for all the pools, and the official hours of the BC quiet pool are 7 am to 11pm. Those were the hours when we were there this past April.

Welcome to all the new members that have discovered this amazing ( the best actually) thread on the Dis!!!!

64 days to go!!! Guess I better make a FP plan!!!!

Just curious, if you could only pick one TS for breakfast, one for lunch and one for Dinner what would they be? No character meals!

We finally got some planning done this week!

We decided that we will go to MK twice and Epcot twice as well. We worked on our Fastpass choices and back-up choices for our Fastpass selection (which is next weekend), and we worked on our dining options as well. As far as the Disney part of our trip goes, I would say we are 90% done planning. As far as the offsite, Sea World and Aquatica portion of our trip planning goes, I'd say we're at about 50% done.

I also checked on car rental rates. I was able to save $20, but the good thing is that instead of 15 days, we will now have the rental for 3 full weeks. So, we saved another $20 and added 6 more days to the rental! Yay! Hoping the rate keeps going down though....

Hope everyone has a nice weekend! :goodvibes

Your staying BC CL? (9/8-9/17). How old are your girls? Mine are 10 & 8 We are as well and we are going to MK as you know on the 9th. I wonder if CL can help with this issue? We have breakfast at 1900 PF at 8AM so we will not rope drop. I told my husband's nephew that he needs to get to MK at 8:15 and stay to the left and head right to A&E.

But, I will not let not seeing A&E bring down this trip. I have saved forever for it and I have tried to read as many tips as I can but with that I don't want to schedule us so much that we don't have time to just soak up the magic. I hope I picked a lower crowd time of year, the touring websites say we did but that FP for A&E say different. LOL

Yes! We'll be there from 9/7-9/12. It will be a girls trip, just me and my daughters (ages 16, 13 and 4 ... the little one is turning FIVE on 9/9). i'm really looking forward to this trip. We have not been back in a long time and it's my youngest's first trip. I'm not sure who is more excited, her or me! It's our first time staying BC as well ... really looking forward to it!

I was really surprised at the lack of FPs available for A&E, considering the time of the year and how most kids will be back in school so I figured less families vacationing. Of course, being the wonderful mother that I am, I'm pulling my kids out of the second week of school for this trip. Started out as a trip for just me and the little one, then the oldest wanted to come along and then the middle child. How could I say no? #motheroftheyear...not! :teeth:

I've resigned myself that we'll most likely stand in line for @ 35-40 minutes one morning to see A&E, but that means we'll have the rest of the day to see everything else with under 10-minute waits, thanks to TP and FPs. It's all good!

Good to know about the strict closing time for SAB. The quiet pools having a posted closing time is a bit disappointing. I keep seeing conflicting information about that. On Allears the information about the quiet pools seems to show that the quiet pools are open 24 hours a day. Do you think this is outdated information or a case of it officially closing at a certain time but they really don't care if you use it as long as you stay quiet?

I sat out by the pool near the laundry room ( on the BC side) until 2am waiting for laundry and it was fine. A couple was swimming after midnight and a CM came by and said nothing. I'm sure you will be fine as long as you keep it quiet. If it were me I'd would go ahead and swim!! Always easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Lol!!

Meet and greets are as fun as you make them. Usually the characters will greet you and start chatting away about their live in the movie or will point out something about your child that is similar to them. However, the best interactions come with guests who quote phrases from the movie and can carry on with the character about the plot, a prince, another character. It can be very entertaining watching the person portray the character. Most of them do a superb job!! I would say the more outgoing you are the more fun the experience can be. For example, Baloo is one if my all time favorites and so is the film, the Jungle Book. We planned on meeting King Louie and Baloo in Animal Kingdom to goof off with them. As we approached King Louie we started jumping through our arms like jump ropes and he joined in the best he could. Then we started singing "Bear Necessities" and using some poles in the pavilion as back scratch posts and Baloo came on over and joined me!!! It was a hilarious moment!!

Ok, so my Table Service for breakfast would have Johnny Depp wheeling in a room service cart for Matthew McConaughey and I for a little Breakfast in bed.

For Lunch it may be necessary to give Matthew a little break so I would have Channing Tatum meet me for lunch at Le Cellier for a little prime beef.

Then for Dinner I'd text Matthew and tell him to meet me at Kimonos because hopefully that is all he will be wearing.

Who's next??

I agree with this post. I know before I give Chewbacca a hug I always ask if he has applied his Frontline Flea and Tick protection. It's better to insure protection rather than spray for extermination.

Club level just opened up for our dates at YC. Anyone stayed CL there that has any insight to share?

I have stayed CL at YC 4 times and really love it. CMs have been helpful, attentive, and friendly. I had sort of planned to try other resorts in future but now don't want to switch.
I usually eat a light pre RD breakfast in the CL lounge - never crowded at 6:30 AM. Am occasionally back for light evening snacks but usually not. Food selections have been tasty and have not noticed them running out.

Would you recommend doing it with the dining plan? I'm more of a snacker and so are my kids but my husband is more of a full meal type guy. So I'm not sure what to do about ADRs if we switch to club level for the whole trip. Obviously the days we'd be in the parks most of the day we'd eat at restaurants, but not sure about the rest of the time.

I LOVE how you dine!!!! I'm calling Disney Dining to make my ADR's just like yours!!!!!!!

I have a 9 year old daughter. I understand your pain. My DD can be quite dramatic at times. lol

I also ask them what is their must do's.

DD chose BBB and lunch at CRT.

DS wants to do Splash over and over and go to Chef Mickey's.

If I know Amara, her must do is spending my money at DTD. I have FP+ for A&E, and Rapunzel and Snow White our first night. Next day is Ariel. I think Ariel is the one she'll be the most excited about. At this point, I don't know that she really knows exactly what visiting Mickey at his house even means. We also have an ADR for 'Ohana, so she'll get her fill of characters this trip, for sure.

Don't you just love the drama of girls! I have 3 of them as well and the oldest will be 18 in less than a month and she's the worse. In our case drama would get everyone a ride on its a small world! When we started talking about doing another trip youngest dd, 11, said "your not going to make us go on It's a Small World because those doll things are creepy"! I told her they should give them all axes for Halloween...ok Universal might do that but maybe not Disney. Last we went on it they all got into the boat and pull there hands up like they were going on a great roller-coaster. I have a very funny family

The drama is killing me. And the oldest is by far the most over-the-top about things. I swear, each week I get a new "It's always been my dream to..." Fill in the rest with something totally absurd. She flipped out just before Illuminations last August, saying it was her dream to see the fireworks with her family. Meanwhile, my middle daughter was crying because the other two had berated her on her choice of country for the Phineas and Ferb game, my poor mom looked like she wanted to jump in the lake or in some other way end things, and I was completely fried. I stopped short of saying her dream was ridiculous, but I pointed out that no one was exactly having a great time at the moment, so may be should try finding a new dream for the night. Or something to that effect.

Aw, that's so incredibly sweet. I have no clue how our youngest will react this trip. My other kids were always completely aware that the folks in costume were folks in costume. She will probably believe she's really meeting Elsa and Anna. I will probably cry.

Hm. No characters, so I'd swap out Boma for Tusker House. For lunch, I'd have to pick Biergarten. Does the Oompa band count as a character? I just love this one. We've made such great friends eating at this meal. Our last trip, we met a family of five staying at YC, so we spent hours hanging out with them at SAB over the next few days. For dinner, it's a tough choice. If it's just me, I'm going to Flying Fish, most likely. If I'm with everyone else, it's probably BOG. Not so much for the food as the location. We've had great times there. If that counts as a character meal because of the Beast, I'd have to go with Flying Fish. Unless I could get V&A and the chef's table. I ate there with my husband for our tenth anniversary and it's one of the top five meals of my life.

Here is a photo with me and Baloo backscratching!!View attachment 109195

That is just awesome! My kids are always too stunned to talk to the characters. The only one who really gets into it is Teagan. She had a ton of fun with Pluto one time.

We stayed CL once with the meal plan and it was too much food for us. When we stayed CL without the plan, my husband just ran down to the QS restaurant and grabbed a flat bread for himself because the evening appetizers weren't enough for him.

Thanks for the input. We have Akershus breakfast, Crystal Palace breakfast and 1900 dinner scheduled that are must-dos per the kids. I'm planning a lot of F&W time, so we have more QS credits than I think we'll use, and I'd be glad to ditch the dining plan.

We usually stay CL and never get the dining plan... with the lounge food it would just be too much food for us. Because we usually have a light CL breakfast early in the morning so we can get to the parks, we usually make an ADR for a nice sit-down lunch... after touring in the morning we are definitely hungry by then. With the evening appetizers, a big sit-down dinner is too much for us, so we either grab a few snacks in the parks or make an ADR and then share a few items. It really depends on what works for your family, though.

I am notorious for booking too many ADRs and then canceling them because we just can't eat it all. Right now I have an ADR every night of our next trip and I need to cancel about half of them. It's just so hard to know which nights to choose.

I hope you can get one for her. Keep checking - you may luck out especially when you get within 45 days. Since that's pay-in-full day for many folks, that's when they start canceling packages.

I tell my kids to get me a list of the things they absolutely want to do or they'll be sad. Now it has to be doable things - not "stay in the castle suite" sort of stuff. And the three-year-old can't write yet, so no list for her. Her list would include things like "ride a unicorn," anyway. I do what I can to make the first thing on each list happen. My middle daughter always puts down "have fun spending time with my family." I never know if she's trying to butter me up (aw - how sweet that she just wants to hang with us!) or she knows there will lots of not-fun times. I can accommodate her number one in drips and drabs. Not much I can do about her older sister, who once had a pretty epic meltdown at the MK because Teagan (middle girl and classic peacemaker) was scared to go on Thunder Mountain. "It's always been my dream to go on Thunder Mountain with my sister." Dear lord in heaven. Really? She was 10 at the time. Teagan is scared of the Barnstormer. Time to get a new dream, I think. Or wait until your baby sister has more height to her. Oh, and in case any one is interested, I made everyone go on the Carousel of Progress.

Yup. Sounds like my girls. This is when Tyson and I start dreaming of a "just the two of us" trip.
