Hmm, that's strange, I just called the same number and tried to get a "high floor close to MK" request on my reservation (12/1-12/8) and the lady told me you can't do anything in advance and that I should just request this when I check in that day? :confused3

weird! Try again later. Better luck with a different CM!

Wow. How strange. I was so pleasantly surprised at how accomodating the CM was. He was super polite and interested in my request. Call back again!

I just called to request a room as high as possible and the CM I spoke with was more than willing to put our request on our reservation for Dec 1st. So definitely call back and try another CM.

I am SO excited!

Has anyone recently shipped a box to themselves prior to arrival at the Contemporary and if so, was there an extra charge for holding the box?

I ship a box ahead every trip and the CR is the only place where we had some issues with getting our box. We arrived in the late afternoon and checked in. We were staying on the 12th floor so we asked if the box could be sent up to us. The CM tried having someone bring it to us but was told we had to go sign for it in the business office. We were told the business office closed at something like 5:30 or 6:00 (can't remember the specific time). I called down at about a half hour before they closed to find out where we needed to go. I had told them who I was, what I needed and they gave me directions and reminded me of the closing time. My husband left right after I hung up, stopped to pick up a drink in the lounge and went down on the elevator (drink in hand...didn't stop to drink it in the lounge). When he got to the business office, they were closed and locked up. He was back upstairs in our room 10 minutes before they were to close so they definitely closed early and did so within minutes of when I called and asked where we needed to go to pick up our package. The box had diapers and baby supplies, including food, for our baby. I had shipped it prepaid via FedEx ground so that I could have tracking and proof of delivery showing it got there 2 days before us so I would know if I needed to repack all that stuff. Thank God we had enough diapers and food left in our carry on to last us through the night! We got the box the next day no problem. When I complained to the manager I was told that it is not uncommon for them to leave a bit early from that office. I was not happy given that I had just called to tell them my husband was on the way down but we survived fine. The other issue we had was that they charged us for the box. There was a charge from the CR Business office on our room charge for the exact cost of shipping the box. I called on it once we were at home (didn't notice it at first on the check out slip). They told me it was the shipping cost. I explained it was prepaid and had to fax a copy of my receipt from FedEx showing I had paid at drop off and it was credited back but I guess it goes to show always double check your receipts!

Hopefully our situation was the exception rather than the rule. I will say that box issues aside our stay was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the resort! The Atrium Club staff was fantastic, especially Spencer! We've stayed concierge at most of the deluxe resorts and I would say that they went out of their way to do special little things for our kids more here than any of the others.

I don't mean to sound down on the resort. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again...we just had box issues here we've never had anywhere else.

Rysar and I stayed for a week 10/30 through 11/6. To say we were let down by the CR doesn't really quite explain it.

Disney "neglected" to mention the level of disarray that the hotel lobby and atrium were in because of the ongoing renovations. In fact, they didn't mention them *AT ALL*. Granted, we knew about them because of board posts, but we had no idea quite the degree of chaos that we were to encounter.

What frustrates me is that Disney is trying to make the CR equivalent to a W or other upscale hotels, but isn't following through. We were in one of the rooms that had been renovated on the 10th floor (4628, to be precise), but they obviously are not keeping up the rooms. The bed linens, blankets and pillows were worn and the sofa had stains on it. As has been pointed out by others, the sinks in the bathrooms don't drain properly. The shower head was encrusted with mineral deposits to the point where water barely flowed through it. The ultimate has to be the noise that comes from Chef Mickeys, which the desk of course neglected to mention to us as well. All in all, not a great experience except for the pictures of Cinderella Castle with the new xmas lights we were able to get.

For the prices they're charging, this place should be immaculate and everything in perfect repair. This was our first experience staying on property, and may be our last. Previously we have always stayed at the DD Hilton or the DD Doubletree... in my opinion both of those properties are head and shoulders above the CR. I've stayed in much lower end non-Disney properties that were better taken care of and had better amenities. For a hotel that has recently has a significant refurbishment, to say this was disappointing doesn't even begin to cover it.

Sorry -smtpboy that your room was much less than expected.

Just last Spring we stayed in room 4636 (10th floor) and everything was in pristine condition. (These two rooms only have 7 other rooms between them.)
I was wondering what a room by CM would have sounded like. :scared1:

DH loved our room. We have friends who want to stay with us there, so we booked a 2 room one night stay for later. Hopefully no issues for us.

When I booked I was warned of the construction and what was missing right off the bat and asked if that made a difference. So it could be there have been issues and CMs now make sure guests are aware when they book.

So sorry to hear you were disappointed with the CR. We have stayed there twice and it is one of my favorites mainly due to the view of MK. I hate to ask but I am dying to see the Christmas lights on the castle could you post one here? Would really appreciate it. Thanks, Becky

I still can't post links, but either check out my profile on Flickr (smtpboy) or check the links posted a few posts up.

Thanks! I can not wait to be there to see it in person next month. I'm sure it will be even more amazing than your picture. Becky

We have reservations to stay at the Contemporary the week of Thanksgiving. Is there truly a computer in each room and if so, do you have access to the internet? Thanks.

I hate reading about people being disatisfied..... really stresses me out! We are going to be at the CR for the Thanksgiving week in the pres suite and it will be our first stay since the remodel. I spoke with a CM and they said that the x-mas decorations will be up. I will post a ton of pics, stand by.

We are going to be at the CR in July, and then again in Sept. I not sure if we will get the Pres. suite in Sept. how do you know if that is what you get? We have reserved a 2 bedroom suite facing the MK. Does it say it somewhere on the reservation?
Thanks, and by the way my family totally loves the CR. It is our home resort. We stayed at the Poly this past summer and they still want to go back to CR.
Lynn;)

We stayed in a tower room and it had a computer with free internet access. The only complaint we had with the room was the same thing that everyone has already mentioned. I was dusty and messy . We called to complain and it was cleaned before we returned that evening .

There is a price difference between 2 bedroom and pres suite of about $300 a night, I believe.

Yes the all rooms have a computer. I also brought my lap top and accessed the wireless router in the dining areas.

Ive seen a lot of post about the MKV from your room. Here is a pic from my room Oct. 07 11th floor. Great views and fireworks!!

DisneyRulz07,

WOW! What an amazing picture. It is picture-postcard-perfect!:cheer2:

What room did you have? We have a MK view coming up and either you have an amazing camera or an amazing room!:rotfl:
Thanks for sharing. It makes me even more excited for our upcoming trip:banana:

DisneyRulz has a far better photo than I do. But I thought I would share again the MK room view we had.
