DISNEY'S CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information Thread!

One more burning question!! We are staying that Contemporary next week. My parents are insisting that they heard we can bring DVD's for my daughter to watch in the room. I am thinking that there is not anything automatically available for DVD viewing unless I happen to bring a DVD player or laptop myself.... who can clarify??

Has anyone that stayed recently been on the DDP? I was wondering what was allowed as snacks from the gift shop (I checked over on the DDP board and there was very little info on CR.)

We had a DVD player in our Atrium Club room. I asked this same question a few months ago as we'll be there in Feb in the Tower (non-concierge). It seemed most rooms did not have a DVD player, but I remember someone had one in their garden room. The TV does have the plugs (yellow, red, white) to hook up a portable DVD player if you have one. We're bringing ours on our trip.

Okay, I need some help! I have read that there are computers in each room at the Contemporary. My DH didn't believe me so he called the CR and was told that, no, there is no computer in the room ...only internet access. Can someone please clear this up for me?! We are staying in the Garden Wing.

There are absolutely computers with free internet access in every room at the CR. CRO has no clue what they are talking about.

Wow, this would be great! I don't even have a laptop. We're staying in the Garden Wing Dec 19-24. Sure would be a kick to email pictures back to the family that won't be able to join us. When I checked the Disney website for amenities at CR it only listed internet access availability (for an additional charge).

Someone asked for pics of the usb drives on the in room computers. Here's two pics, the white cable is our I-pod, the black cable is the keyboard. We only used the usb port to charge our I-pod. I'm not sure if you'd be able to upload pics to the internet or not using it.

I understand that there is a coffee maker in each room, but I was wondering what kind of filters it uses. Can we use our own coffee or do we need filter pouches?(like a teabag, except with coffee in it) TIA
BTW Disneyrulz07, those are great pics. Now I'm really looking forward to that view in Jan.!!

I'm sure the information I am looking for is in here somewhere!! But after wading through about 15 pages I am giving up and just asking for an update!!

We are going to be at the CR from Dec 8-15. I'm wondering what everything thinks we will encounter. Specifically, do you think that the shops will REALLY be done by then? How is the rest of the interior construction coming along? Is the check in area under construction?

I'm also wondering what our quick service food options will be. Does anyone have a menu of what they are offering in this location? Can I use the DDP here?

Are the snack/groceries available in the stores (assuming they are open!) and can I use my DDP for these???

We have a garden view room booked--do you think we will be bothered by any construction noise?

I know that is a lot of questions!!! With our trip getting so close I am just wanting all the details. Any insight you might have to the CR during 12/8-15 would be appreciated!!! THANKS!!!

I'm going to guess that the coffee makers are the same as at AKL, which are 4-cup automatic drip machines with a filter basket. I brought my own coffee and filters with me...I used regular sized filters, not the ones made for 4-cup makers, I just squished the sides down and they worked just fine.

We did not bring anything coffee related of our own but DH made coffee each morning so I assume there were filters

Is Contemporary Grounds open? If so, is that a good place for AM coffee? I don't want to make it in the room. I want to get good coffee somewhere in the resort! 2 more days to go for our first CR stay!

Yes, the Contemporary Grounds is open but it has been moved near the entrance to the convention center.

Yes, definately get your coffee from there if it is open. On our trip, the first morning we got coffee from the tempo grab and go...it was terrible. The rest of the trip we either got coffee from the contemp. grounds and enjoyed it on our balcony, or took the monorail to the poly to get some Kona coffee. I'd say those are your best two options.
