The problem is that Disney isn't necessarily wrong to do it - they do what sells. People don't much care about whimsy today, which can certainly be lamented, but it is what it is. I am sure Disney has done market resaerch and focus groups, and when they ask, "Would you rahter have a trolley that goes up and down the street or two brand new Avengers attractions, the latter tends to win. It's the same reason they make so many sequels an dlive action remakes - the audience has taught them that that's what they want. I don't like it personally, but that is the world in which we live. In a perfect world everyone would just agree with what I want and do that.
