Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

Last time I was on board, I looked at available space for a bar/restaurant, as there was a thread about doing just that. What takes up a lot of space is the wide stairs on both sides. Likely designed that way to facilitate quick loading/unloading.

I remember doing a dessert party on the boat for Parade viewing where they served the treats on shore, then everyone went aboard and they moved the boat for the parade, then went around the circle, and Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen did a meet and greet. Quite a few years ago now, I think the movie had only been out for a few years.

But I think moving it to a new location would be the biggest (and most expensive) part... Wondering if they just leave it there in a smaller Castle Moat to be part of Liberty Square - and it is always just docked.

Sad. The trolley brings energy, fun and some whimsy to the DCA park.

Yeah, I wish they could figure out a way to keep it. I mean, build a new space to house it - Is that really not possible? I used to really love the little show they did with Mickey arriving in Hollywood to make it big! Good stuff.

Not sure why you couldn't put something in the space where the parade ends and the floats go to the back area by Guardians other than it's an expense and maintenance that Disney no longer wants to pay for. Move the track to the left and put the housing behind that area. Not a ton of room though.

I figured it was going when the original announcement of the Avengers ride came out.

None of that equals ROI, which is the only thing Disney cares about and is why the trolley is going away.

The problem is that Disney isn't necessarily wrong to do it - they do what sells. People don't much care about whimsy today, which can certainly be lamented, but it is what it is. I am sure Disney has done market resaerch and focus groups, and when they ask, "Would you rahter have a trolley that goes up and down the street or two brand new Avengers attractions, the latter tends to win. It's the same reason they make so many sequels an dlive action remakes - the audience has taught them that that's what they want. I don't like it personally, but that is the world in which we live. In a perfect world everyone would just agree with what I want and do that. 😉

I would imagine at some point the entire Hollywood area will go away and it will be converted to something different. That's honestly where the Avatar area could go according to speculation. Don't need a throwback trolley to Hollywood's Golden Age when you have another area of Pandora bisecting the trolley tracks.

I'm still upset they are forcing Avatar in DL/DCA.

For me, it just depends on where they put it. Much like the Monsters Inc. coaster for HS, if they put it a largely empty Animation building, I am okay with that, but if they put it over the Muppets I won't be happy. If Avatar goes into some generally dead sapce, then I am alright with that. Honestly, even the Hyperion Theater could go if they aren't going to use it. I'd much rather a great show come back to it, but if it's just going to sit dark then a ride is better than essentially nothing.

Glad we rode it after the expo, even though the track has been shortened.

I still don't want it over here LOL
I'm not an avatar fan and wish they would keep that in AK. It's also partially my dislike for Disney avoiding to come up with something new instead of IP that's already been used.
It’s all about IP. Iger has said this. We have the guests to blame, maybe even ourselves. I understand though. I’m losing some beloved things at WDW😭

So...basically what I said in my prior post. ROI matters above all else, including having kinetic elements in their parks that make them unique compared to the competition and added to the overall park experience whether you physically rode it or not.
