DHS Sorcerer's Hat to be removed

I am actually okay with the removal of the hat. Personally I thought the water tower with mouse ears was a better symbol for the park.

The hat never bothered me, and it was a good icon for the park. Though the replica of the Chinese theater is beautiful, the hat was more Disney to me.

It would be nice if they could find someplace else for the hat - Even moving it elsewhere in the park. (Maybe they could set it up as a backdrop for a world of color display like they have at California Adventure)

I heard they were replacing it with a mock-up of an x-wing fighter. The golf ball at Epcot will be replaced with a life size replica of the death star. Eventually Illuminations and F! will be replaced by a real-life laser battle between DHS and Epcot. Who said imagineering is dead?
:cool1:

This.

How about your backyard?:rotfl:

The hat been removed from all merchandise for 2 years now, DDG was given orders in late 2012 to no longer include it.

This is interesting. Every year we go to WDW, I get the same kind of magnet - it's a soft one, usually blue background, with the year and various characters on it, and it sometimes will have the four park icons. I was noticing that my 2014 magnet had the Earful Tower and not the hat as the icon for the Studios and wondered why that was. Maybe now I know.

Very interesting. We have the same magnet and I never paid attention. I thought I remembered seeing the "Four Parks One World" thing with the hat in May, but then it prob takes them a while to filter thru all their warehouses of merch.

I do like the hat tho, I will be sad to see it go.

Nothing at Disney is ever in stone until it actually happens ..... but I just contacted the CM I know that told me a month ago it was leaving and asked for a date. They were told by the end of the year.

So are they going for a 4fecta - every park must have construction/deconstruction walls up? Or is MK w/out walls & cranes @ present and it's only a trifecta?

MK has construction too. At the Hub.

Bring back the Earful Tower as the park's icon. That was the original icon, before the Hat made its appearance.

I like the hat. Plus I'd rather have the money spent on something useful Hat wi probably get it replaced with a Frozen meet n greet

DD is completely onboard with your ideas and thinks you should be an imagineer!

It's always nice to start the day with a bit of good news. It will be lovely to have the original sight line down to the theatre back again.

kinda hoping for that view of the theatre unobstructed when I go in January :)

Aint gonna happen. That stage has been up for years now. Even though it is technically temporary. (The hat was technically temporary as well.) It was used for High School Musical and now Frozen and the weird DJ during the day.

Never say never.

(though, technically, you didn't say never. lol)
