CVS ECB Deals - Sales for Week 11/16-11/22

If you have high sales tax in your state, it's supposed to be smartest if you save at least one or two mfg. coupons until the end because they eat up the tax at the end of the transaction.

That is what I did. When I was told my total I handed over the ECBs first then the MQ.

This is completely opposite of my normal routine. It seems logical to give X/XX, then MQ, then ECBs. That way you are not using more ECB than necessary.

The only reason I complied yesterday was because all I had were the $15 ECBs from battery deal to do the glade deal.

I can never seem to have the OOP worked out. Must have to do with the tax. In MD we pay 6% tax on somethings but other are tax free.

I got so frustrated yesterday I left my whole cart in at the register. I had spent about an hour in the store lining up my dels and then the cashier (not my usual guy) said I couldn't use the 3/15 with any other cvs coupons. I told him I had just done that the day before and he said well they shouldnt have blah blah blah

I know I should have asked for a manager but I was just so pi**ed off I couldn't deal. I dumped it and left!!!

I went thru a problem at Walgreens and called Corporate ! I was right they were wrong and I loved it !!

Ok, so I know this is off-topic, but I was just organizing my bathroom closet.

I currently have 12 toothbrushes, 7 packs of razors, 3 children's toothpaste, 14 regular toothpaste, 14 deodorants, 8 shampoos, 4 conditioners, 3 body washes, and 9 packages of sanitary pads, in addition to various pain relievers and cold medicines. Stored elsewhere I also have a huge supply of batteries and 10 bottles of dish detergent. :upsidedow

Most of these items were completely free!!! This is a wonderful addiction:lovestruc .

I keep giving free stuff to my family and friends and will probably end up donating some to a local outreach program.

How much stuff do you have? popcorn::

Ok today's the big day! :rotfl:

I'm going to go after work since I feel like I'm going to need more time to get this together once I'm actually at the store tonight. DH's promised to come straight home so I could go shopping. :goodvibes He's so baffled by this (as well as other things from the DIS boards-like why free things keep showing up at my house! :rotfl2: ).

I want to give you my "list" so I can be sure I'm doing the "right" thing when I go in tonight:

$15 ECB for the $20 Duracell battery purchase (I can buy any combination so long as it totals $20 correct???)
$2 ECB Right Guard for $2.99 (I think I have a coupon and would like to "stock up" for DH)
$2 ECB Kodak 1GB SD $9.99
$5 ECB for $10 Glade purchase (plug in refill twin pack $3.99, glass scents 2/$5, scented oil refill $2.99)
Maxwell House Coffee (need it for next week when we have company and I think I have a coupon)
Kleenex (think I have a coupon)
Buy $20 in Coke products and get $10 off Wall E (this is the one I'm most concerned about as it's a birthday gift for DS2 on Thursday!)

So....will I just pay OOP for everything this time and use the ECBs as "cash" for my next purchase or will the ECBs go towards this purchase or how should I do this?? I can feel the anxiety already and I'm not even in the store!! I just don't want to mess it up and pay more than what I should since the point is to try and save money. :rolleyes1

Thanks so much for all of your help!!! I really appreciate it!!:goodvibes

If you split these up into small transactions that generate ECBs then you can turn around and use the ECBs on the next purchase to earn more ECBs to use on the next purchase, etc... No need to ring it all up on one transaction in order to get the ECBs.

If I have more than 1 transaction then I step out of line after each one and get back in line behind the last person then do my next transaction.

Good luck and have fun. Take your time and figure your best deals. Be prepared for items to be out of stock (ask for a raincheck!) and have a backup plan.

I can never seem to have the OOP worked out. Must have to do with the tax. In MD we pay 6% tax on somethings but other are tax free.

MD is probably a lot like MN, it's hard for me to work it out too because food and OTC meds aren't taxed. Some states have really high tax, I know in Chicago, there was a huge difference if I used a few mfg. coupons last, one time I had an OOP of over $2 and it was all tax so in the next transaction I used mfgs. last and my OOP was nearly zero - I was buying the same things at 2 different stores.

Trying one last time....anyone? Please?

The only online coupon for the last few months has been a $2 Elements one (but it works on all St. Ive's), it's on the main page at stives.com.

I got so frustrated yesterday I left my whole cart in at the register. I had spent about an hour in the store lining up my dels and then the cashier (not my usual guy) said I couldn't use the 3/15 with any other cvs coupons. I know I should have asked for a manager but I was just so pi**ed off I couldn't deal. I dumped it and left!!!

If it's the one that came in the mail, some cashiers will just say that because they don't know how to deal with the problems it causes (register won't allow any ECB/CVS coupon to have a value more than $3 - fixed by either using the coupon last or rescanning your card). If you call 800-SHOPCVS they will call the store and tell them they must take ECBs because they are just like cash.

went today and did my 3rd battery deal - was not able to use the 5/2 i had problems the other day but somehow it was pushed thorugh - i did hand it in last so i could use my 15.99ecb - i also used a duracell .75 manf. coupon and a 1.50 manf. coupon?

Still not bad

got batteries and also did the glade deal - spend about 20.00 total (15.99 ecb and 3.84cash) got back 20 in ecb's.....

On two cards i did 4 battery deals - should be good for a while...

I would put everything in my cart first - if you don't see the Wall-E movie, look on the shelf behind the counter and ask the cashier to save you one if you only see a few.

More difficult, but spend less money:

Transaction 1:
Buy the Glade deal and the Right Guard.
Be prepared that the Glass Scents will probably be out of stock because of the BOGO coupon so if you have the coupon for a free warmer when you buy a refill, get a night-light warmer and a twin pack ($6.99 + $3.99 - $6.99 mfg. = $3.99)
You will earn $7 ECB on this transaction.

Transaction 2:
Buy the batteries. You can get any combination as long as it adds up to over $20 (use sale prices to calculate). The $9.99 packs might be out of stock. Look for peelies on the packages if you don't have any coupons with you.
Pay with the $7 ECB you earned in transaction 1.
You will earn $15 ECB in this transaction.

Transaction 3:
Buy the coke products and the SD card.
Pay with the $15 ECB you earned in transaction 2.
You will earn $2 ECB and the $10 Wall-E coupon in this transaction.

Transaction 4:
Buy everything else (Wall-E, coffee, Kleenex).
Pay with the $2 ECB and the $10 Wall-E coupon you earned in transaction 3.
_____________________

Easiest/stress free:

Buy everything on your list EXCEPT Wall-E.

Bring everything out to the car and tear off the ECBs you earned.

Go back in and buy Wall-E, use your $10 coupon, your $5 ECB from Glade, your $2 ECB from Right Guard and your $2 ECB from the SD card and pay 99 cents plus tax.

You'll still have a $15 ECB to spend on your next trip.

Alternate: If you need more batteries, get more in this transaction, you will only need to buy the difference from what you spent before, so if you bought over $20 worth (such as four $5.99 packs), you would only need to get three $5.99 packs this time to earn another $15 ECB. Then also use your $15 ECB too and pay 99 cents plus tax for Wall-E and $2.97 plus tax for three more packs of batteries.

You'll still have a $15 ECB to spend on your next trip.

Here are a few pics of things I have stockpiled in TN. You will notice price stickers on some items. They were left over from my yard sale where I sold bunches of stuff. My stash in MD is about half this:

Diann - your shelves are bending just like mine! I was going to say I don't know how you have any TP left, but I realized you probably can't haul it back and forth to MD. We lasted 9 mos. without buying any TP :rotfl2:

Ok...I'm going to have to print out your "directions" and take them with me! :goodvibes Please don't laugh if you see me at CVS tonight...just help me out!!! We can always use batteriest at my house-especially with Christmas coming up and new toys to certainly need some when they're opened.

THANK YOU for taking the time to break it down for me. I really appreciate it!!!! I'll be sure to post tonight how it all went. :goodvibes

Help!

I did my second duracell offer today w/ a little overage. My receipt says
"$50.95 towards this reward"
"$19.98 needed to earn reward"

Shouldn't that say only $10.05 needed to earn a third set? :confused3 It's $20 then $15 back correct?
