Waitlist Chances VGC vs VDH?

I currently have 2 pending waitlists for an upcoming trip in October. I just need 2 days and have one waitlist for a deluxe studio preferred at VDH and one deluxe studio waitlisted at VGC. Is this the best strategy? I can only have two waitlists and I know I'm going at a popular time, but I'm just trying to maximize my chances for a waitlist coming through. Fingers corssed since it's only two days. If anyone has any advice or changes I should make, I'm open to the feedback. I'm currently stalking the website like seriously 20+ times a day and so far no luck!

I stalked for over a month to get 1 studio night at VGC in October ... I'd say try DLH or sell your points and get the best hotel you can? Oct/Nov/Dec are prime at VGC due to Holidays.

I was able to get one night without a waistlist for the middle of the week, and I do have a reservation off property for the other two days just in case something doesn't come through. I just didn't know if I should waitlist studios as both, or if a different category would be better. It's only my husband and I so I don't really want to waitlist a one bedroom, but I know there is that option, plus different view points for studios and the duos at the the tower as well. with only being able to waitlist two things I was hoping for the best odds. This was a last minute trip otherwise I would have been looking at the start of my 7 month window. I own at Poly and the Grand Floridian, so this is my first trip out to visit Disneyland and of course, it would be nice to stay on points if at all possible.

I think a better chance that VDH will come through. However stalking heavily is your best bet. Be sure to also search accessible rooms

Thank you so much! I'll keep checking. I have been trying that as well and basically any view, studios and one bedrooms. I definitely see why people say you need to own there though. Happy I found one night at Disneyland Hotel and our flight doesn't leave the next day until 9pm, so the plan is to enjoy the hotel all day. I'm grateful for sure and so excited I was even able to talk my husband into making this last minute trip. Fall is my favorite season!

Check 25 times a day LOL starting around 40 days out from your desired days, when people may start to drop to before the 30 day mark avoid points going into holding.

When in October, early vs middle vs later, could be a factor. Not sure if you are hoping to pick up extra nights over Halloween party nights, which might be tough if folks have tickets. Earlier in the month might be a little easier, as some schools have extra days off later in the month for a fall break longer weekend, which could mean out of state travelers maybe less likely to cancel.

Thanks so much! Yeah, I grabbed last minute tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash for late October. We have the night of the party, but I'm still going to keep trying for the couple days before it in case something becomes available. I feel crazy checking the site so much, but I'm hoping my persistence pays off haha.

You aren’t crazy! I have done the same and been successful, as others have noted. I’ve also been surprised with a wait list coming through. You just never know, but you’re doing all you can to catch something opening up.

You did it the right way, book a refundable hotel and just cancel if you Do get a points reservation onsite. You've got two interesting pools at DLH so that's a perfect pool day (you can grab a drink by the pool at VGC if you want to see it one night ; Honestly, there are soooo many hotel options around Disneyland (and some a shorter walk than the Disneyland Hotel, with free breakfasts) it's not a deal breaker to stay offsite You'll have a blast either way.

That's exactly what I would set up for a wait-list. October is an extremely competitive time to go to the parks, but I am not sure that DVC members know that. You probably have a fair chance at a wait-list coming through, but of course keep checking daily as you might be able to snag one of the other room types. I wish there was an option for "any studio" because that's what I always want when I wait-list.

Exactly! I wish there was an option to just make the system understand I'll take anything lol. Also, I get it....limiting two waitlists per membership makes sense so that you do have to be selective. Hoping luck is on my side!

Yes, I definitely have only seen a day here or there, and of course it wasn't near the dates I needed. I'd normally be flexible with dates, but like I said this is a last minute trip for Oogie Boogie Bash and my husband didn't have much "wiggle," room. Either way looking forward to my first fall time experience at Disneyland!
