CVS ECB Deals - Sales for Week 11/16-11/22

I had a problem at CVS this morning while doing the battery, coke and glad deals. I had peelie coupons on each of the battery packs and they were expired from 2006 but because the cashier watched me peel them off at the counter, they put them thru. When I went to pay, after all my coupons, the register would only allow ECB's under $3.00. I had 3 ten dollar and multiple 4 and 5 dollar ecbs....and they tried as they could, even with the manager, and could not get them to go thru or over ride them. They told me to call the 800 # and were really nice about it, but it annoyed me to have to pay out of pocket when I had all these great ECB's to use. I know I will use them in the upcoming weeks, especially with the holidays coming, but you know what I mean.
Has this happened to anybody before? if so, what did you do?

Also...at my other store, I was asking about the Loreal age perfect, as it was empty on the shelf. The really nice cashier, quietly explained to me that they have a problem with huge groups of "CVS gypsies" who swarm in the stores in large numbers when they open, using 10+ cards each, making single transactions for every item, thus depleting the shelves by 9am. They were now holding some of these items, for the "nice, regular" cvs shoppers....which I thought was very nice. She said CVS will soon be cracking down on these groups, but did not go into details....except to say its too bad they have to ruin it for the rest of us.

As much as I love CVSing, I have to get out. We just found out that our life savings was wiped out by a man we trusted for 10+ years. This was money we were living on right now because my husband lost his job a few weeks ago. Now I don't even know how we're going to pay rent.

I'll be using my last few ECBs to buy essentials we need like saline solution and deodorant. I know I can keep rolling them, but there's no point when I don't need the stuff. I tried to sell some extra stuff I had at our garage sale yesterday, but nothing sold.

I'm really going to miss cvs-ing. I always loved trying to find the deals.

 I really hope the best for you & hope you catch that bum!

He's already been arrested by the FBI. That's how we found out about it and that all of our money...and my parent's, relatives and about 500+ other people...is gone. I'm just hoping one of us can find a job very soon. But since he just got laid off, and it was so hard for him to get that one, I'm not thinking it's going to happen soon. I'm thinking I may have to take a crappy paying retail job just to pay a few bills for now. I'm more concerned about rent at this point. Other thing I can charge, even though I don't want to.

We're praying a lot and hoping something will come up. I'm glad I have MyPoints too. I just sent away for a giftcard to buy a Christmas present for our 6 year old. The hardest thing is she now knows things are going to be tight and she's been so great about saying she only wants a couple of presents. She knows they're not going to be big presents like she's used to. I would feel really bad giving her nothing, so at least I can get a little something. Problem is, she doesn't "need" anything. But it's hard to tell a 6 year old that.

But thanks to past CVSing, I have lots of essentials stocked up. I could go years without basic toiletries. I should have stocked up on feminine supplies when it was on sale! I luckily have a few ECBs and some on my card from Walgreens, so hopefully by the time I'd be out of that we'll have found something.

OK, I'll stop whining now!

Rachel

I am praying that everything works out very soon for you and yours. Your little one will be happy with whatever you get, she is a sweetie.

I just looked at iheartcvs.com for the 11/23 deals and they have saline solution, so I can use my ecb's for that...it's the less expensive brand apparently, which is fine with me. So that's great that I can roll that over.

Looks like they have a ton of stuff for Black Friday. This will be the one year I will not be going. I don't even want to be tempted to buy stuff. Although I was not impressed with anything last year.

I don't know if I can justify rolling any more ecb's on black friday, but I guess if I'm not spending anything oop, then I should get what I can so I have more for later.

I know I am probably going to "get in trouble" for this post, but this really irks me! I was searching the net for some Duracell coupons. I saw that someone had some of the $5/2 coupons listed on Ebay. They were selling them in groups of 10 and had 6 available for $9.50 each. That means that the seller had 60 coupons. The only way to get those coupons, I assume, was to take them off of a tear pad at CVS. That doesn't seem right to me. I know we are all trying to save money and make money, but I don't like this idea. It is one thing if you get coupons in your newspaper or a magazine and sell them, but to take them from a store and sell them. Hmmmm???

Trouble? No way - it ticks me off to no end and I bet everyone else here feels the same. I wouldn't care if individuals took several coupons for themselves at all, but those people who take the entire pad to sell are rotten!

Very sorry to hear this!

Maybe hang onto about $10 ECB and there will be something you really need once each month. I know it can add up to just roll since you usually have $1-2 OOP, but one trip a month wouldn't be bad.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I did the battery deal 3 times on each card today. I used the $5/2 coupon on each transaction and didn't have any problems. It went right through...no beeps or anything about it being used already on that card. Between peelies that I found, the $5/2 and some $1 q's from the paper, each transaction cost me $1.03 OOP (I did 1 $9.99 and 2 $5.99 per transaction). So, $120+ worth of batteries for $6 :cool1:

Oh, and they had 8 pk of AA with a little bonus screw driver in it that were ringing up as $5.99. Those were really cute!

Fantastic!!! I'm jealous!

Did you use a $3/15 coupon? The type that come in the mail will cause that problem.

Having the cashier scan your card again will often clear it up. Also, the cashier can scan an ECB, enter a lower amount, scan it again, enter another amount, and so forth, but it's easiest to just give it last (you can still go under the amount, as long as your transaction was enough to begin with).

OMG - was it an investment person? Maybe the FBI will be able to recover some of the stolen money.

I'm sure sorry to hear this, and hope something works out quickly for your family

I just looked back to page one of this thread and this is the problem that I wrote about when you said you got the coupons in the mail - I thought it sounded familiar :rotfl:

People were having the $7 coupon (from October P&G) adjusted down to $5.99 because there wasn't a size limit on the coupon.

hmmm....you are right...I did use one of the mailed coupons I got and I was busy pulling off the battery coupons one at a time so he probably scanned my mailed coupon early on. So, next time, I should have him re-scan my card when it beeps and then try the coupon? or for a $10 ECB, have him scan the ECB and enter $3 and repeat a few more times with the same ecb?

LOL, I can already picturing some of the cashier acting like I have completely lost my mind when I ask them to do that!

I know lol - it makes you sound like you know more than they do and then they can get paranoid. You can say something like "this happened to me before and the person did this..."

It's always easier to hold onto that coupon and then give it at the very end, but some cashiers will then say you are under $15 (or whatever the amount is) and not take it - it will scan through as long as you had $15 or over to begin with.

The second easiest way is to have your card scanned again, then it will take the ECBs that are higher than the coupon amount (usually).

The rescanning thing can get really messed up, this happened to me a long time ago and the cashier knew what to do, but she had to enter strange amounts like $2.99 and then 2.01 and so on for a higher-amount ECB. I think I ended up losing money because she lost count of the amount.

Interesting....I had something similar happen to me today. Went to my local CVS and the Loreal was all gone (of course - happened to me last week with the Revitalift deal), I asked at the counter if they by any chance had any in the back and the guy said "no - anytime there's a deal where you get it for free these ladies come in early and snatch it up....then they return it a few days later". I guess I have to start getting out earlier on Sundays if I want in on the deals huh?

They return it???? I guess if they use a coupon they are making extra money. That is ridiculous!!!!!!

OK, I need some help. I just started CVS'ing and had a problem tonight with the battery deal. I had 3 packs of diapers and 1- 16 pk AAA and 1 -8 pk of AA (I think that is right). The AAA was marked $12.49 and AA $8.99. So that would make it over the $20 I needed to spend for my $15 ECB's. Well, after my transaction I looked at my receipt and no ECB's! So I check the prices and the AAA rang up on sale at $9.99, so I didn't hit the $20. I only wanted to do 1 deal tonight so I could use those ECB's on my next battery deal later this week. So I returned those batteries and bought 3 different packs that added up to around $22. When it printed my receipt, it printed $30 ECB's for the battery deal instead of the $15 it should have printed. That would be great, but I had already returned $18 in batteries, I guess it just had not registered on my card yet.

Sorry if this is confusing!

So now my question....is my ECB not going to work at all now? I am not trying to get the extra $15 for nothing, but I don't want to lose out on my earned $15 ECB. So basically, when you return an item that you made ECB's on, shouldn't it void those ECB's so that you couldn't use them?

Thanks for any help you have. I am new to all of this! :confused3

I have no idea !! But the deal is to buy them and you did !! If you didn't have to scan your card there is no way they would know when you returned the batteries . If you scanned the card then it may just give you the $15 . Let us know what happens !!

Thats awesome!

The $5/2 coupon you and everyone is talking about - do you mean $5 off of $20 or is it a special battery coupon, $5 off 2 packages?

Also -
I think someone posted a St. Ives coupon awhile ago but I can't find it. Anyone have it?

Okay, I had my mom come over to babysit so I could CVS today. I did 7 transactions to keep my OOP down and it was rediculous. I didn't have any problems, it just took like 45 mintues to check out!

The manager did it himself!:mic:

So, I spent about $36 and got::teacher:
4 glad glass scents
4 glade candles
3 large duracell packages
2 small duracell packages
1 huggies wipes refill pack
4 big packages of wrigley gum
1 clorox anywhere spray
8 boxes of kleenex
2 pro-heath toothpastes
1 package huggies overnites diapers

not bad, huh?;)

I don't think the ECB system is set up to recognize returns. It's just a flaw b/c that means that (dishonest) people can buy stuff for ECBs and return them later (just like what ekball mentioned) and then still use the ECBs.

Knowing this, I think it's kind of ironic that my closest CVS watches me and my coupons like a hawk. If only they knew that if I REALLY wanted to screw them over, I would know how to do it!
