Looks like we are going to have another yucky weather weekend :cold:

The girls are spending the night at my in-laws tonight, so Kevin and I are going to have to find something to do :scratchin I think we will finalize are Christmas shopping and go out to eat somewhere the kids would never want to go.

Mac - :wave2:

HERSEY - What did you think of Hairspray?

Donna - It's so hard to come back to cold after being in warm. I felt the same way last January, after Kevin and I came home from WDW.

Well, I'm off to get ready for work (we are praying for lots of business today).
Have a good day everyone!!

Slo When you get the right version of Hairspray it makes all the difference. John Travolta was really good. Alex and I really enjoyed it.

Today I am cleaning, baking cookies for our family party next weekend. I hope to get my christmas cards done too. Alex will help me finish decorating too.

Woke up with a migrane today thank you advil. I am now started to feel a little better. It seems my head is very sensitive to the weather changes.

I need to get going have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone! I read these threads every morning over my cereal, but since my other hand is holding a spoon, I rarely post! Things are going well here. I am all set for school next semester- two full days and one class on the other three days. I will still work at least three days a week, too. Other than that, it has been holiday central here- shopping, decorating, crafting, etc. I am also in charge of ds' winter party and helping out with dd's!
I see we have a lot of Hairspray fans. My mom loved it and bought the movie, so I am getting her the soundtrack for Xmas. i am also getting here Ernest Goes to Camp. Don't ask...
Have a good day and stay safe tonight! we are supposed to get some nasty ice!

hello chicagoland homies.
finally saturday has arrived.

too cold for me.
i'll try shopping when it gets warmer.

have a fun weekend

HI all!!!

Hope everyone is doing well!! :) :goodvibes

We've been really busy lately.
Both kids have been busy with activities and with Tony working nights I have my hands full all the time!!! (insert a "need a nap" smiley here!!) :rotfl:

Right now Lauren is at her Girl Scout troop's Christmas party and they they are off to an event to make teddy bears that will be donated to kids in need via fire depts and local hospitals.

slo Sorry I didn't get a chance to call this week. I have been so busy lately I feel like my head is spinning!!
I feel for Kevin and the long drive he has. I know he's not used to having to drive so far to work and the traffic. Buy him some books on cd for Christmas to help pass the time while he's in the car! :thumbsup2
My mom is doing better. She still is taking meds for the infection in her finger though. Thanks for asking! :)

Tiggerrn I bought tickets for the Feb 2nd 2:30 Hannah concert in Schererville! That is the time you are going right?
We have the same Christmas break as you. Getting together sounds good, even as a group too!! ::yes::

Rose Congrats on winning air fare!!! :yay:

geffric Happy Hanukkah to you and your family!!!

paint Ernest Goes to Camp???? LOL!!! :rotfl2:

Hey all!!
Too cold here for me (where is that frosty smiley?)
DD is not feeling well now. Hope this is it for our holiday sick time. Always someone ill around here near the holidays.
We went this morning to the Rosemont Theater. My niece's uncle works at Office Max and gave us the tickets to see Miley Cyrus in a 1-1 interview there for her contribution to helping education. She sat out there and talked about 1 and 1/2 hours, took some questions from the audience members, and that was about it. We did get Office Max Beach balls and the Miley/Hannah CD as a gift for coming. That was nice. Of course, DD already has that CD (as I suspect many of the girls there did since they were all singing to all of the songs already):rotfl: But it was nice, nontheless. I did take some pix, but they did not turn out all that well - too dark.
With Kellie not feeling well tonight, I am OH SO GLAD I didn't waste hundreds to get tickets to the concert. Or bother to stand out at the Arena today in hopes of getting last minute tickets as they got returned from the brokers trying to sell them for 1000 times the face value. :rolleyes1
Bunchkin, yes that is the show we have tickets for. Would you like to get together at Culver's there for lunch before the show? I'd love to get together with you again.
Hersey, I think I will go work on my Christmas cards tonight for a little while as well. I bet your house smells so good and is nice and warm. I love cookie baking days.
Slo, sure hope you are having a great few weeks at the shop. Has Kevin adjusted to the drive yet? Hope the new job is going well for him.
Tonight was our towns' Christmas Light Parade. There was a live nativity and some reindeer (you could have photos with), as well as the parade. Too bad it was too cold and misty out. I wanted to take DS (since DD is ill), but I will not go out and stand in the cold. I'm a wimp when it comes to cold weather.
Well, I had better run and get something done. Hope you all stay warm this weekend. And all stay healthy too.

Just popping in for a quick hi!

It has been a crazy two weeks. Just got back very late Thursday night from almost two weeks of training out in California for the new job! I passed the exams with flying colors and now feel ready to take on the new position with confidence.

Bad time of year to travel, but no choice on that of course. Thankfully got tree up before I left and John had done all the outside lights.

Well hope to catch up on this thread within the next few days. Actually have to head in to work tomorrow as they have moved their office to a new building this weekend.

Hugs all...

CarolAnnC Congratulations on the new job. I'm am sure you will do well.

Yuck is the wood for today. Ice storms  Did we not just do that last weekend? I hope this is not going to be a pattern.

Bunchkin I'm glad and sorry to hear Tony is so busy. This is going to be a long winter for some of the guys in the construction field. Our guys are somewhat busy but for how long?

Tigg I'm glad Kelly got to see Hannah Montana or Miley who ever she is. Alex looked like he wanted to go. I don't think he would have like to be around a bunch of screaming girls. :scared1:

Unfortunetely I have to go out later so I better get the house picked up again before I go out. I need to make a list of things I need so I'm not running around for nothing.

good sunday morning chicagoland homies.

carolannc, congrats on the new job and welcome back home to a decorated tree and house.

now i need someone to come do mine

i hope slo made out good yesterday. hopefully she had a lot of shoppers in her store and they bought everything up

going to sunday school and church soon.
i have your backs covered for the week.

we are now up to 12 inches of snow since it started.
already shoveled this morning.

Kevin and I had such a good evening last night.
We went out to dinner for Mexican, and it was yummy :goodvibes
Then we went to the mall, and shopped, and shopped, and shopped, until 10:30pm. Then we went to Target, and shopped until they closed, which was 11pm. We then came home, sat in the hot tub for awhile, and then finally made it to bed at 1am. It was a very nice night, and we had some great laughs along the way

Today the girls are coming home around noon, and then we are going to go the store for awhile to finish Stephanie's Heritage report that's due on Tuesday, and I'm going to do a little work. Kevin's coming with us, because he has some work to do there too. He got a vinal cutter, so we can make banners, printed t-shirts, and window decals through the store. This is his gig though, and I know nothing about it. There's alot of set up to do, so that's what he's doing today. Then we are going to come home and relax :)

HERSEY - I hope your headache got better throughout the day :wizard: I woke up with a headache like that last Sunday - they really ruin your day.

paint - I'm glad things are going well for you, and good luck to you next semester :wizard: You'll do great!!!!!
**I read the DIS over my cereal too :)

Mac - I did have some steady business yesterday :) I'm getting more and more to do - which is great!!!:woohoo: Thanks for asking!!

Bunchkin - Please, please, please don't be sorry for not calling me - I understand  I've been really busy at the store too, and haven't had time to call you either. Plus, the days have been going by so fast lately, that there are so many things I want to do, and then before you know it, I'm going to bed. The holidays are always so crazy!!!! :faint:
**Thanks for thinking of Kevin:) I suggested to Kevin that he should get some book on tapes, and he mentioned he would like to have Spanish lessons on tape. I should buy that for him for Christmas from the girls. We agreed to not buy each other Christmas presents this year, because we splurged on the cruise, and that's our Christmas gift :)

Tigggggernn - I'm sorry to hear that Kellie isn't feeling well :guilty: I hope she feels better really soon - I'll send lots of Christmas PD her way :wizard:
**That's so cool about seeing Miley Cyrus yesterday - I bet Kellie loved it!!!! You guys had to stand outside though - burrrrrr!!!!!! :cold:
**Kevin is very slowly adjusting to the drive - it's mainly because of the inclement weather we've been having lately. Once Spring comes, the drive will be much easier - thanks for asking!!!

Carol Ann - Congratulations on the new job!!!! :cheer2: Sending lots and lots of good luck PD that everything goes well, and you meet alot of nice new people along the way:wizard:

Well friends, I gotta run and get ready for church. Plus, I have to get all our purchases from last night away from the front door, so the kids don't see them - some of them are for them - stocking stuffers:santa:

Have a good day everyone!!

Good morning all-

DonnaW and Bunchkin- thanks for the congrats for the airline vouchers I won :)
As of today, I haven't received them in the mail yet, tho it takes awhile for them to process the wins and mail them out.

CarolAnn- congrats on your new job :cool1:

Tiggerrn- that is so cool you and your DD were able to see Miley Cyrus at the interview yest morning :yay: If you can post pics on that, it would be great!

Slo- sounded like you and Kevin had a good night shopping and all last night

Paint- glad to hear you're doing well :)
Your mom loves Earnest Goes to Camp :rotfl2: j/k
DS, Matthew, loves the movie Goodburger- from Nickelodeon. I don't know why he likes the movie, but he does:confused3 . It was on Nick last night and we watched it and taped it off the tv for him.
I must confess, some parts of Goodburger are funny :upsidedow

:wave2: to Mac and Hersey and everyone lurking

Have a good day everyone.

CarolAnn- congrats on your new job :cool1:

Poor Carol! Carol had to work today because her office moved to a new building on Friday and everyone was expected to go in today to set up their new workspace. So, off she goes this morning like a good little trooper, and the next thing I know I hear Kristen yelling up to me that Carol was laying in the driveway.

Evidentally, everything, roads, cars, driveways, sidewalks, everything, had a thin shell of ice on it this morning. Poor Carol headed out to the car, saw the driveway looking wet and tested it for slipperyness. Well, the first three feet was just wet, so off she went. Her next two steps sent her flying in the air and she landed flat on her back!

Long story short, she has a compression fracture of her L1 vertebrae. So, she's in the hospital over night so they can keep her on the *good* pain meds. Keep your fingers crossed that she's able to get out tomorrow.

I know she appreciates all your good wishes and it really helps perk her up when she see's so many people care about her. :)

OMG! Let us know if there is anything that we can do for you. Poor Carol, I hope she is going to be OK and that those pain meds keep her comfortable.

Carol Ann - So many hugs to you!!!!   I'm so sorry to hear what happened to you:guilty: I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery, and I will send load of get well PD your way too :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Please keep us posted on how you are doing- we'll be thinking of you!!!:grouphug:

This is another reason folks why I HATE winter - it's dangerous!!!!!
The weather people are talking more ice tonight, so please, be careful everyone!!!!:grouphug:

Have a good day today everyone!!

Good morning...

I just read about Carol...please know that she's in my thoughts and prayers. How very scary!!! I *hate* winter, too!!! John, make sure you give her lots of extra TLC....
On a happier note for Carol, congratulations on the new job!

On a job note, I just found out that my job is kind of going to be "eliminated". I have worked part-time for over six years, and if I want to stay on, they want me to go full-time. I am just not interested in working full-time at this company (it would be commissioned base, so they would cut my hourly $$ if I went full time, expecting me to make it up in commission), so I will be in the job market soon, looking for that perfect part-time position.

Today is kind of a difficult day for me...it is the anniversary of the day my father passed away. It is hard for me to believe it's been 9 years already. That year was a horrible, devasting year for us as my nephew passed away from a tragic accident the same week that my dad died. Mark & I are planning to take a drive out to the cemetary today (both my parents are in the same cemetary, my mom passed away two years before my dad did).

I hope you all have a SAFE day today. Take care, Chicago friends.

Oh my that is always my worst fear. I'm glad you all were still home and where able to help her. Tell her we are thinking about her and wish her well.

This year I too am feelling a little blue about my step mom and dad.

I'm so sorry about your job.

Morning.. Just back from Mousefest..;)

John How is Carol Ann today.. I hope she is okay and.. but black ice is the worst. It is so dangerous out there with all of the ice etc..

DonnaW - I am sorry to hear about your job. Hope you find a better one next year. Hugs for you about your Dad.. Holidays make it especially difficult when you miss a loved one. :grouphug:

It's terrible to find out your job is getting cut at the holidays. It's no fun anytime of the year, but the holidays make it particularly hard because that's when the bills rack up faster.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad and nephew. The holidays are supposed to bring back happy memories and I've always felt sad for people who's holiday memories are unhappy memories instead. {{{Hugs}}}

I spoke with her on the phone. The doctor hasn't been in yet, but she's feeling stiff and sore. I'll be in to see her immediately after my dentist appt.
