I'm off today. You?

Unlikely.

Nope, I'm not off today. But based on your posting history, you've apparently been off nearly every day for the last two months. Because you don't post from work, right? :rotfl:

That's correct. I don't post from work. My hours vary from week to week. So much for your detective work. But you continue to post on the boss' time. Nice work ethic. Just proves that, like so many other topics, you don't know squat.

Exactly what actions were they taking that was denegrating to the troops?

Btw, what about the man who knocked down all the crosses with his truck? Was he being supportive of the troops? Just a wild guess, but I don't think he was part of the anti-war crowd.

The fact that they were there supporting a woman who has said:

"This country is not worth dying for.”
and
""The U.S. government is a morally repugnant system.”

This woman is not a "gentle soul".. she is an out and out activist.. who has packaged herself in her tears as a grieving mother.. for a fellow that died for HER right to rail against the very career he chose. THAT is denegrating soldiers.

Also the fact that we received a number of "one finger salutes" in response to our signs.. such as "Support our Troops"... yep that's all some of the signs said... and for that we were flicked off.

As to the fellow who mowed down the crosses - of course I don't agree with what he did... in doing so he showed he was no more respectful then the ones who put the crosses there "memorializing" those who gave their lives for their right to speak out. There are families that are going to Crawford to take down the crosses with their child and/or spouses name - as they do NOT want the name to be associated with Cindy and her ilk.

By the way - any flags you see on crosses were NOT put out by the group - they were put out by a group that went down from Dallas on Friday the 12th. From my understanding - prior to that there were NO flags on the crosses. (Don't know that for sure - but it's what I've heard..)

Interesting

MATTHEWS: Let me go, Paul, before you start. What I keep doing here is asking people on and off camera who come on this program, high-ranking officers, enlisted, former officers. I get sometimes, not all the time, two different versions, the version they give me on the air and the version they give me the minute when we‘re off the air.

The version they give me when we‘re on the air is gung-ho, we‘re doing the right thing, everything is moving along. The version they give me off the air is, Rumsfeld is crazy. There aren‘t enough troops over there. We‘re not taking this seriously enough, or, we shouldn‘t be there, sometimes.

You're blinded by the right pamlet...Some people believe NO Country is worth dying for. DYING! As in gone FOREVER! These people are called pacifists and it doesn't mean they are bad or don't love our Country, but simply believe, perhaps much different from you, that NO war is worth dying in.

Futher, calling the government repugnent is denegrating to the troops? How so? She would like all of the troops to come home alive, more than heir bush apparantely because he still has no plan to get them out.

My work ethic is just fine, but thanks for your concern. :sunny:

Yes - calling the government repugnent is denegrating the troops - because they volunteered to be in the military which is part of our government.

I am 47 years old - I'm hardly blinded by the right... I remember full well the "peace protests" of Viet Nam - and overall result it had on our troops when they returned. It was shameful. That is why I support our troops - and will be doing so vocally.

Some people may believe that no country is worth dying for - fortunately they are not the ones who join our military.

That is exactly the opposite of what this country was founded upon. George Washington had to fight to even get a standing army because our founders were so against the concept of a military being associated with leaders. We instituted civilian control of the military (first ever nation to do so), to ensure that the militray was not a political player. We were the first country whose leader did not wear a uniform, and our military takes an oath of loyalty to the Constitution, not a leader. Again, first nation on earth to do that. Again, your position is squarely at odds with the prinicples this nation was founded upon. They would fit in prefectly in the nations we have fought over the last century, however.

How is it ethical to be surfing on the web when you are being paid to work...by the taxpayers?

So every time the mail is late and I get PO'd I'm committing treason?

This administration is NOT America...that is basic Civics class 101. The only form of government that advocates that it's leader and army are the embodiment of the country is a DICTATORSHIP.

Ok, so outside of someone flipping you off (and frankly, since the only reason you were there was to antagonize, I'm not surprised), you actually didn't see a single action proving your claims? Nevermind the fact, that despite the self importance you place on yourself, how people react to you is not a reflection on the military troops of the United States of America.

Actually, the man who used his truck as a wrecking ball was quite a bit more disrespectful in that he broke the law.

Thanks for the clarification....The very idea that you went there with an open mind is a joke.

As I said before, some of us are able to do more than one thing at a time. I'm perfectly capable of performing my duties and typing responses at the same time. But again, thanks for your concern. :sunny:

Brenda, somehow I highly doubt that part of your job description states that surfing the DIS is a productive use of company time. I'd even wager that it could get you suspended...or worse. The fact that you work for the US government and are therefore wasting tax dollars....our tax dollars... is inexcusable. But you are a republican and wasting other folks time and money goes with the territory.

Is this how service people in the AF protect our country, while on duty?... by posting on the internet?

Who do you work for? Are you posting at work? If so, how is that morally superior than anybody else posting at work?

Sorry....wrongo Galahad...I'm off. I don't post at work. I'm in the resort biz...very flexable hours...days, nights, weekends, weekdays, all over the map.

Some of us have really laid-back jobs though. She has such an important position, I kind of wondered about that too. Some of the marines that I know hardly ever get to email their families. Everybody is always worried about them. :)

Ah. Perhaps you'd be happier with day job then.

Sometimes I do work days.

I'm happy as a lark...seen the latest numbers on Bu$h?

I am positively giddy!

Not sure I understand to stabs at her but even folks on these boards that are very busy at their jobs dip into the DIS during the day. IT seems a pretty effective way of relieving the tension of the day. Not much different than folks taking smoking breaks and such. Do we maintain that government employees cannot ethically do that? There isn't any real logic to the notion that you can't do both.

IT manager fired for lunchtime Web surfing
By Tim Richardson
Published Wednesday 16th June 1999 09:33 GMT
An IT manager has been sacked for surfing the Web during her lunch hour. Lois Franxhi lost her tribunal in Liverpool yesterday after her employer said she used the company's resources to scour the Net in search of cheap holidays. Franxhi maintained she was sacked by Focus Management Consultants in Cheshire because she told them she was pregnant. The tribunal heard how Franxhi used her office PC to make around 150 personal searches on the Net when she should have been working instead. But Franxhi claimed she surfed the Web for just 111 minutes over a four-day period -- the equivalent of just two lunch breaks, she said. "It's outrageous and unfair to be sacked for [surfing the Web] for such a small amount of time," Franxhi was quoted as saying in the Daily Telegraph. Believed to be the first case of its kind in the UK, the tribunal decided that Franxhi's personal use of her office computer made her guilty of misconduct. It was also revealed that she had been warned a few weeks earlier about the misuse of office stamps. Last month Rolls Royce sacked five people at its Bristol office for using its corporate network for sending "grossly offensive" hardcore porn. ®
