Why is that not a legitimate question? If I offended you, I'll offer my sincere apologies. That wasn't my intention.

No, it's not a legitimate question. It's a "fightin' words" question.

And the fact is, at this point, support for the war is down to 34% and it didn't get that way because the Bush case for war has held up. The longer this war goes on, the more the American people realize they got sold a bill of goods.

There were also many people on the Left, here and in other countries, who opposed the invasion because they were afraid Saddam would use chemical/nuclear weapons on our troops.

Were they lying?

Like who........specifics please.

From what I've read that isn't being presented by the MSM, things are going better than is being portrayed *by* the MSM.

I mostly blame the MSM media for all of the false perceptions that people have.

Things are getting much better.

Three bombs went off today in Iraq killing 43 people and the Bush administration is lowering its expectations on what can be achieved in Iraq.

Oh, and btw, 1 American soldier was killed today bringing the total number killed in August to 59.

Yup, things are getting better.

How many schools have been reopened? 3500

How many people now have better plumbing and electricity than before? Many.

Just read many of the messages from the "boots on the ground" about the way most of the Iraqi people feel. It's positive.

Recently on the morning show that Matt Lauer hosts he interviewed a Captain in Iraq and got an unexpected answer even though his question was in part
"LAUER: Don't get me wrong, I think you're probably telling the truth, but there might be a lot of people at home wondering how that might be possible with the conditions you're facing and with the insurgent attacks you're facing... What would you say to people who doubt that morale could be that high?

You're watching democracy unfold as they work out the details of their Constitution right now.

I guess a simple question is "do you want us to succeed or not?"

You are completely detatched from reality. Please tell us what is going right in Iraq.

Yea thats it...all of the media in all of the world has conspired to falsely report events just to smear Bu$h.

That's really tragic man.

Stats please. What's many 12...200....40,000???

Democracy isn't "unfolding".... what little there is is un ravelling.

"Instead of Saddam we now have thousands of Saddams,"

An Iraqi citizen's comment on todays latest bombing that killed at least 40 people.

The people of Iraq have ALWAYS been ruled from the top down. Kings, Mullahs, Dictators, whatever...from the top down since day one, ALWAYS. They have ALWAYS sought the protection of their own ethnic or religous group...ALWAYS.

For the first time in their history the people of Iraq are having a horizontal dialogue. That is all well and good, however without a stable and secure environment (which the US has failed to provide RE:NOT ENOUGH TROOPS) they are not taking advantage of the opportunity, nor will they. Rather they seek the security of their own ethnic or religous group...just as they ALWAYS have.

Say hello to a three way civil war.

Say good-bye to Iraq democracy.

Say good-bye to the Republicans.

That's nice..........there are 4 schools here in my district that have not reopened since Charley and have to be completely rebuilt.

When is this before? Before the water and plumbing systems were bombed? Iraq isn't Pakistan.

Some of the Iraqi people, not most. And that's wonderful. Lou Dobbs reports on this constantly.

I haven't watched The Today Show since Hugh Downs hosted and couldn't care less what Matt Lauer does.

You're watching a country disintegrate into civil war. And, btw, better lower your expectations. Bush just did.

It would've been nice. Past tense. I believe the opportunity was lost.

And since Bush has such a wonderful track record, the question is "do you want us to succeed or not" because it isn't going to happen with him at the helm.

Oh stop it, John, you're smarter than this. No one I know hoped for failure and you tell me who you know personally know who wished the war effort harm.

Stop whining about the Matt Lauers and start wondering why our troops still don't have the equipment they need. The problem isn't Matt Lauer, but Bush and his administration.

Btw, acknowledging problems is the first step towards finding solutions. Two + years into this war and this administration is still looking for the right combination of equipment for the troops.

And to top it all off, the Bush administration lowered their expectations for what can be achieved in Iraq.

What would you consider a success?

Stating that I am "hoping for failure" in Iraq is loathsome as it implies that I relish that the troops sacrifice has been in vain. NOTHING could be further from the truth. My zeal in opposing this unjust war has been motivated by my complete horror that our young men and women are being slaughtered for a lie. To sacrifice our best and bravest for an ever-changing array of deceptions, lies and greed is outright murder in my book and Bu$h should be treated as such....a traitor and a war criminal.

NEWSFLASH:

BU$H DOES NOT = AMERICA

BU$H DOES NOT= THE TROOPS

Being anti-Bu$h does not mean one is anti-troops or anti-America...regardless of what you've heard on Rush.

I knew this post was coming when I went to bed last night.

The righteous indignation is SO predictable.

I noticed you didn't answer the question.

That's what I expected.
