August 10, 2012 Disney Dream

Thanks for the warm welcome, Greg. I agree, night driving is the way to go, especially with a baby. Looking forward to the cruise. We will have to keep each other posted on when the room assignments come in so we can let everyone know when to check.

Absolutely! On our last cruise the assignments were made approx. 4-6 weeks prior. Until that day I will be checking constantly :coffee:

Welcome Christy and Greg. No worries for the baby. Disney has it covered. My youngest DD and her husband are traveling with her 15 month old twins girls and Disney has be been wonderful in putting her mind at ease. Actually we all are. There are 20 in our group. Half are kids. Yeah! It's so exciting!!

Is anyone worried about the weather ie: hurricanes, ect. My travel agent made a big deal about Disney booking the flights and having the insurance b/c Disney will make arrangements to fly us in early in case of bad weather. I'm wondering if i spent money I didn't have to.

Hey everyone! Just booked this cruise for my family of 4 (husband=JCFromTB, our 5 year old daughter, and our son who turns 4 2 days before the cruise). We went on the Magic in March as our first Disney cruise and LOVED it so much we booked four rooms as placeholders onboard. We roped 3 other friends into bringing their families for a March 2013 Wonder Spring Break cruise but then got sad watching how many days were left until then. When I saw the military/DoD discounts for this cruise - didn't take long to make up my mind :)

I noticed a few other military members on this board - if you didn't book with the MTO rate, I'd check it out now and see if you can get a refund and/or upgrade.

We'd like to do the FE (SOME of us more reluctantly than others!) - Room # 10052. The kids had a blast with the FE last time, and we're planning on doing it for the next cruise also. I will put a Google Doc together also if that's easier for anyone (sorry - I'm a spreadsheet junkie!).

A meet & greet on board sounds great - last cruise I really enjoyed putting a face to a name, and it was wonderful to already have "friends" to run into around the ship!

Welcome Leahmichl! I am assuming that's you and DH I just added to the Facebook group?

Yay, another FE family! We are really racking up the FE families! Whoo hoo!:cool1:

DH and I are already thinking about our next Disney cruise. I've been reading a lot about booking a cruise while on a cruise. Does anyone have any experience with doing that?

:wizard:

We did this in March! Got a 10% discount on the cruise and increased OBCs. We weren't positive of when/where we wanted to cruise, but just booked a placeholder. We ended up booking for 16 people - one of the 4 of us in each room, and added 3 extra names as placeholders also. Booked the cheapest cruise available (3 day Bahamas like 18 months out, I believe) and the deposit for each room was something like $150. If we didn't use the rooms we would have gotten a 100% refund. When our friends decided to go, we switched the names in the room and they applied the 10% off to current rates on what we wanted.

We just booked this week as well, with the military rate. Would like to get in on the FE extender group as well. We have 2 cabins - Cabin 1 (10030) - me (Jessica), Husband (Bill), DD5 Chloe, DD5 Zoe, and DS4 Nathan. Cabin 2 (10032) - my mom (Marilou), and my dad (Ron).

We all were on the Dream over Thanksgiving, and the kids LOVE the ship and doing the FE stuff. Been looking for a decent summer rate as Chloe was just millimeters shy of being able to do the Aquaduck (not fun when your identical twin was able to do)....they were crazy picky about the height requirement....even patting down her hair...she was "legal" height as per our doctor's office, so not sure how well they made their measuring pole. Have been hearing about wanting to go on it for months now!

Welcome jmpdb! I know you and your family are excited to be going back to the Dream! Glad you are going our FE !! It's really getting big (1st time cruiser perspective) :dance3:

Joining the fun with our daughter Jessica and her family... looking forward to a great cruise! Sent a request for the FB group and would like to join in the FE group also.

:yay:

leahmichl - Thanks for making the spreadsheet. Saved me a bunch of time. :cool1::cool1:....61 days to go

We just signed up for the 8/10 cruise. This will be our 4 Disney Cruise out of 6 cruises. First trip on the Dream. Will be my DW and 2 DD (both 12), we are from NC. If anyone has a daughter that would like to pen-pal (email chat etc) with my very social butterfly type daughter let me know. We did this before we sailed the med last year and I think the girls still email each other. I have one social and one very shy. Will be celebrating my 5(x) birthday on the 11th. Looking forward to a meet if there is one in the works

Cheers!

We are in Waxhaw, just outside Charlotte. I think just about every cruise we've been on we have met other NC folks. Too Cool! :thumbsup2

Has anyone ever done a Meet & Great on the newer/bigger ships? We've only been on the Magic, and there we met in the Promenade Lounge. It was perfect - open but private enough that we could all meet and get to know each other a bit. Not sure what's comparable on the Dream. Ideas anyone?

There was discussion of a M&G early on in this thread..I was thinking if people wanted to meet inside the Vista Cafe Deck4 would be a good location and I think you can also access the outside deck...But if people would rather be outside the Waves Deck 12 or Currents Deck 13 might be good locations..Just my thoughts and any other suggestions are welcome!!party:

We lived in Charlotte many years ago - built our first house there and our two oldest were born there. We live in the suburbs of Chicago now. We sure did love NC and loved the weather there too.

Marcy, I hear my granddaughters and your daughter have been getting to know each other by email. Seems like there are many girls in that age group here. As of now my GD that will be 12 in Oct plans to go to the tween club, but the other two girls will be with the younger group.

I'm on facebook, but I don't know how to find this group on FB. I tried to search, but came up with nothing.
