~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

Believe it or not - our best deals were scored in Hollister... Despite popular belief - they do have the BEST sales, and yesterday was even better because it was 50% off of redlines. :wizard: Victoria ended up with 4 pairs of jeans (1 white pair), 1 skirt, 8 layering tank tops, 1 sweater, 1 button up shirt, 1 tee shirt and 1 dressier shirt for about $175. All of her jeans were cheaper than what I could buy them at Target for (excluding clearance).

The lines at Hollister reminded me of Disney... There was a line for the dressing rooms that was about a half hour wait. There was a line to check out that was about a half hour wait... I really could have used FP... :rolleyes1 There was no way Josh would have stood in lines like that - so I am glad we decided to start purchasing before he got there.

I went to bed early, because I had woken at 1:30am, and couldn't make myself fall back to sleep... So, I was really tired.
D~

It sounds like V did really well at Hollister. We popped in there to get Sara a pair of the sale sweatpants yesterday in the afternoon. But we bought a little bit more than that. Both of the girls got a pair of sweatpants and we also found the 50% off redline section so they each got a pair of jeans and Meredith got a skirt which was plaid and really cute for school. The skirt was especially an amazing deal because it was under $10!!! I agree that when they have their sale on the redline stuff you can get some very good deals. We also recently found out that there are Abercrombie and Hollister outlets in Potomac Mills Mall which is about an hour away from us.

It sounds like your stores were way more crowded than ours were. And it was rainy here so expected terrible crowds but Meredith didn't even have to wait for a dressing room.

I can't believe you'd been up since 1:30! My husband is just like that too. If he wakes up early like that he just gets started on his work and sleeps for a while in the middle of the day. But I guess you'd wake up your family if you were sewing at 2 am.

I hope that you are able to book your trip soon so that you get all the places that you want. One of my friends booked a trip for this fall and expected them to release the free dining dates. But when they released them, they excluded the week she will be there! However, she did end up getting a room only discount and they are people who don't really care too much about food (can you imagine being like that?????)

I've wanted to get the Disney card for several years but my DH keeps saying we should stick with the card we have. Our current card has some really great travel rewards so he is probably right.

Again - another bag that came to me while I was laying awake at night... :confused3 We should all know by now - that these are the bags that come out more unique that the rest. :scratchin

Anyways - here ya go...

IMG_7849.jpg

I don't normally do things on felt - and I don't think I will start, but I wanted Boo to be hidden - originally - but the more I tried to work it out in my mind, you could walk around with the zipper open all day - and no one would see her. So, I put her on felt and attached her to the bag with a ribbon sewn into the seam - so the customer could pull her out - so she can be seen - or you can just put her in the pocket so you can use the pocket.

IMG_7850.jpg

I found the main fabric several months ago - it's an old print and I was lucky enough to get just enough for one bag - it reminded me so much of Sully's fur... The turquoise even fades from light to dark... It's just perfect fabric.

IMG_7848.jpg

The eyeballs are actually pom-poms... D~ took a crash course in pom-pom making last night... all along, I was trying to figure out how to get the black in there - and as a random thought, I had Josh pick up some black yarn on his way home from work - amazingly - it worked... And because they are yarn - they kind of bop around when you walk with the bag on.

Also - the mop hair is yarn... I debated on buying a mop and using the actual strings - but I decided not to - and just purchased yarn that was "mop like" - Again - the strings totally move around when you are carrying the bag.

IMG_7847.jpg

The interior fabric is a corrdinating print to the exterior fabric - I saw it and though "Boo's door~!"

IMG_7851.jpg

And then the wallet - I had so many ideas... But I really feel like Mike has been overdone - so who else, but Randall? I appliqued him in the same fabric as the wallet, so that he is "camoflaged"... I really love how his eyes turned out!

So, that's it! I hope you enjoyed this bag - it is (again) one of my all time favorites... I just love doing 3D effects on my bags - when I can.

D~

Omgosh, the monsters Inc bag is simply fabulous. So insanely creative.

love the Boo bag! the 3D elements really make it cute! good call on doing Randall in camo!!

Love it! Another favorite. Your ideas are so amazing.

Oh and I agree, you should just book the adrs, because if you do decide to go, it will be sad if you can't get your adrs. You can always cancel these as well with no money loss. And if you really need to, I would also just book the trip. Better safe than sorry. Did you mean its a hassel because you don't book all this by yourself? I guess that would make it more of a pain in some respects. I have a trip booked for June 2013, and had a countdown for adrs, really wanna go to Be our Guest, and those will sell out fast. But more than likely this trip will be canceled and moved to 2014 :(

Ok - so I made my first dining reservation...

Chef Mickey's dinner for our (potential) arrival night. We have never eaten here, and it's somewhere we'd like to go. Since we almost always to MK on our first night - I figured we could make a stop at CM on the way.

D~ <--- who fears she will jinx this trip by making ADRs before she even saves enough for the deposit...

.......

Then I will be on to my next bag... This next bag was started months ago, because this person was first on my short waiting list, unfortunately - I have been so swamped that I never got back to it. :rolleyes1 I have a good portion of it finished, but it has a couple of large appliques - one is finished, one isn't... It's a pretty detailed bag with a lot of extras - so I am planning on it taking the remainder of the week to finish. But it's a cool looking bag too... I will just be happy to have it done and off my "to-do list".......

D~

Could this possibly be my bag? :goodvibes So excited!

Your Monsters, Inc. bag is wonderful! You are so very creative. Love the added 3D effects.

Your trip: I'm in the camp that says make those reservations. Get what you want when your window opens. Cancel later if you need to.

Optimism D~ I like Optimism! No official plans but an ADR...Yes, that is how I roll as well...

Unique 3D bag concept! I :love: Monsters' Inc and Boo is adorable....of course, I am clumsy, so when you make mine...:rotfl2::lmao: we better go for 2D so I don't catch it on everything! (I am JK people, I don't have a bag on order).

Sure, go ahead and finish this bag before I even had a chance to brag that I knew the theme of one of your upcoming bags!

Alexa is in love with your Randall -- she started making faces like your applique because she thinks you have him spot on!

So what are you going to *dream up* next?

The whole bag is just inspired: Love the way that the pocket, when zipped, is the Boo Monster & Boo is inside.

Randal is spot on!

I love the Boo bag. That was so clever the way you made her be able to pop up and then hide back in the pocket! And the Randall coin purse is awesome too! I love that you made him in camouflage mode.

In the end - you all talked me into it. Guess it's better to have them than to not. I can always cancel later. I just hope I don't forget to cancel - then I will be very angry.

I am so sorry about your June 2013 trip. I hope you are able to go in 2014. :lovestruc

Yup - I am working on your bag this week! :)

Thanks for the compliments! :)

LOL Thanks Judy. You know I'll make you a bag any time you ask. :lovestruc

Love the Boo Bag...she is one of my favorite characters :worship::worship:

Thanks Jennifer! I love how it turned out too!

LOL Sorry about that. I am glad that Alexa loved my Randall... He was a last minute idea. I often struggle with what to put on wallets.

The whole bag is just inspired: Love the way that the pocket, when zipped, is the Boo Monster & Boo is inside.

Randal is spot on!

Thanks so much!

Well, I know Andrea will be happy about this... I've started drafting my pattern. Lord only knows how long it will take me, but I have come to the conclusion that I just cannot possibly keep up with all these bags. I do know that the pattern will be for personal use only though - I have given that part a lot of thought.

I also secured my 2nd ADR this morning... Lunch at Le Chefs de France. This was at the top of our list at Epcot, especially since our less than stellar experience at GG last spring - not that we didn't like it - it just wasn't as great as we remembered it (the age of the girls had a lot to do with it, I think). It was a toss up between this and Via Napoli... And LCdF won this time. I also took notes from Oopsi... When ordering there - order the French dishes. :thumbsup2

Today is Alli's first day of High School. Sniff - sniff. I hope she has a great day. :lovestruc

I have to work at Target today (and Thursday), and I will be working on my next bag every day in between. This one has a lot of applique work, so I do think it will take me all week to finish. On the up side - I was able to get caught up in my sewing room, so I am no longer behind. :thumbsup2

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today! :lovestruc

Not sure what is going on with Photobucket this morning- it's acting all wonky - hopefully my picture will show up at some point?

D~

LOL Thanks Judy. You know I'll make you a bag any time you ask. :lovestruc

Thanks D~ I had actually come over to clarify my post and you were already posting! :rotfl2::rotfl2: Meant to say I also just LOVE Boo...My niece looked like her as a toddler and you did her spot on.

Sweet!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today! :lovestruc

D~

YOU TOO!!!! :goodvibes

I hope Alli has a wonderful first day of 9th grade. Have fun at Target today.

Diane... I meant to post this when i did my post this morning, but I forgot...

This was the skirt outfit that V got at Hollister... The whole outfit was less than $20 (we had the leggings already)... Just curious if this is one of the skirts that your dd got?

V also got one of these skirts earlier in the year - it's a navy/green one - which she loves. I swear that girl would wear skirts every single day if she could. :lovestruc

Ok - so I made my first dining reservation...

Chef Mickey's dinner for our (potential) arrival night. We have never eaten here, and it's somewhere we'd like to go.

I hope you have a better CM experience than we did. The food was cold, our table was in the worst possible spot, the character interaction was sub-par....uggh, I just hope you have a better time than we did. I would try it again with Bradey sometime for breakfast instead, maybe it was just because it was Dani & I with no kids :confused3

Love, love, love the "Boo Bag"! It is amazing :lovestruc
