~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

I hope you have a better CM experience than we did. The food was cold, our table was in the worst possible spot, the character interaction was sub-par....uggh, I just hope you have a better time than we did. I would try it again with Bradey sometime for breakfast instead, maybe it was just because it was Dani & I with no kids :confused3

Love, love, love the "Boo Bag"! It is amazing :lovestruc

We have gone to Chef Mickey's almost every trip. It is on our must do list...although last year was our worst visit there... of course, we had a vegetarian who hated characters with us ( my oldest daughter) who complained the whole visit about not having enough food to eat for the price...that might have had something to do with it!

However, I agree... last September, the food was lukewarm and our server was less than enthusiastic. (we had the same problem at Hollywood and Vine last trip too.)

hope the girls have a great first day of school.....Megan starts tomorrow!

:cool1: for getting LeChef's! we loved it in April....def get the french onion soup and I had the filet, SO yummy! and the creme brulee :goodvibes

Awww... It's always so hard to send them off to Kindergarten... LOL about being the primary room parent - I did that once... :headache:

Yeah it is. The good thing is he loves school. For now!! Luckily I seem to have a really great group of mom's and am able to delegate almost everything out to them. They also have great ideas for our classes booth at the school's carnival next month so I'm pretty excitied to be working with them.

LOL Yes, we are getting closer!

Now I just want the time to fly by!!! :rotfl2:

Great you were able to get the girl's BTS shopping done. Always a great feeling when you can get deals.

Sad but exciting that Allie is starting her senior year. Looks like she was pretty excitied if she was skipping!!

Diane... I meant to post this when i did my post this morning, but I forgot...

This was the skirt outfit that V got at Hollister... The whole outfit was less than $20 (we had the leggings already)... Just curious if this is one of the skirts that your dd got?

549468_4634835557673_245045496_n.jpg

V also got one of these skirts earlier in the year - it's a navy/green one - which she loves. I swear that girl would wear skirts every single day if she could. :lovestruc

D~
That is the exact same skirt that Meredith bought! I am pretty sure she got in the same colors too. They had a few different colors and she had trouble deciding which one to get. I love the outfit that V put together with the leggings. My girls like to wear the short skirts like that with little spandex shorts under them instead of leggings. The skirt was a great deal since it was like $9.50! Sara wants me to go back and get her one but I keep resisting. If I go back, I'll spend money on other stuff too! LOL!

I love the picture of your older daughter skipping off to the bus stop! I hope her first day of 9th grade went well.

YOU TOO!!!! :goodvibes

Thanks Judy! :)

I see it!

It was just acting all funky with me yesterday morning - once I shut down the window and came back - it was fine. :confused3

I hope Alli has a wonderful first day of 9th grade. Have fun at Target today.

I think she had a great day - it sounded like it anyways. Target was the same-ol' same-ol'.

I hope you have a better CM experience than we did. Love, love, love the "Boo Bag"! It is amazing :lovestruc

Thanks Suzi! Grrr, I do hope we have a good CM experience - since we have never been there before - this could either make them or break them for us. I did notice, last spring - the Character meals definately didn't have the same "feel" to them with the girls being older - it was weird. That is why GG is out this time - it just wasn't the same.

Great... Sigh... I am hoping it will be OK.

Thanks Lisa! I hope Megan has a great first day today.

Yes - I have heard about the French Onion soup - and it's one of my must haves. I am also going to have to get 5 or 10 Napoleons to-go while we are in France... I could live off of those.

Yeah it is. The good thing is he loves school. For now!! Luckily I seem to have a really great group of mom's and am able to delegate almost everything out to them. Delegation is a great thing! :) Alli is actually just starting high school - 9th grade... Yes, she looks so much older than she is. :rolleyes1

Today is V's first day of 8th grade... Alli did her hair and make-up this morning, she looks very cute!

And just for fun - yesterday my thread order finally came from LCM... Love that place - but I seriously could have driven there and back faster... These were the spools I added to my "collection".

296766_4637004171887_1168464810_n.jpg

And then all of them together - I just love all the colors together - they look so pretty. Looking at this picture - I am potentially short on reds and oranges.

262388_4637007691975_1000596071_n.jpg

I was also able to snag my 3rd ADR this morning... Tusker House for breakfast - before the park opens. :cool1: Loved walking through AK with out any crowds.

Tomorrow I need to make an ADR for DHS... I am really struggling with this one - do we try again for 50's after our experience with Elaine? Or do we go somewhere different? If so, where do we go? I would love some input! :)

Well - I must go, I have to drive Victoria in to school today, since we couldn't get her stuff into her locker - I am hoping they will let her to her locker for a few minutes to put her stuff inside before all the kids pack the hallways.

Then I am coming home to hang out in my sewing room all day.

Have a fantastic day everyone!

That's too funny... I know - the girls still have a bit left of their BTS budget, and I've been trying to resist going back to Hollister - because those deals were incredible, and I just couldn't believe that they got so much for so little.

Where do you find your spandex shorts? I've been looking all over for them. Victoria only has about 5 or 6 of the Gilly Hicks/Hollister skirts, and it would be great if she could actually wear them as skirts - since she has a lot of steps in her school - I won't let her go with out something under them. I wonder if Kohls might have them? I know Target doesn't - unless I go into the sportswear section, and that's really more than I want to spend. I guess I could make them too - but usually you can find leggings so cheap, it doesn't make sense to make them... I suppose I could also chop off a pair of leggings?

D~

I would chop off leggings in a heart beat. Our Academy carries them for all sizes that's where I got EEs and Lauren's. They are like a sporting goods store.

Did it ever occur to you that if you didn't sew so much, post so much, and live so much I wouldn't have such a hard time keeping up?

Later today I'll post my BIG NEWS and my UPPB. Promise!

This turned out to be one of my favorite bags!

I love how the balloons pop off of the black of the bag - and I love that there's a hidden LGMH!

20120825_122319.jpg

Here is Josh's idea... He wanted me to do Mickey Mouse's gloves holding the balloon strings - and I love the idea - it was perfect for this bag!

20120825_122357.jpg

D~

:worship: It looks great. I :lovestruc primary colors. The stitching looks perfect and the wallet is a great complement to it.

I am pretty excited about this bag! I love the colors! It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures, but it's quilted in a light lavender color to coordinate with the interior fabric.

Applique and accent details close-up:

IMG_6918.jpg

This is AMAZING!!!

:worship: Wow. The face on Tiana is beyond perfect. I don't know how you get such detail done so perfectly. The flower is a nice addition.

Again - another bag that came to me while I was laying awake at night... :confused3 We should all know by now - that these are the bags that come out more unique that the rest. :scratchin

Anyways - here ya go...

IMG_7849.jpg

I don't normally do things on felt - and I don't think I will start, but I wanted Boo to be hidden - originally - but the more I tried to work it out in my mind, you could walk around with the zipper open all day - and no one would see her. So, I put her on felt and attached her to the bag with a ribbon sewn into the seam - so the customer could pull her out - so she can be seen - or you can just put her in the pocket so you can use the pocket.

IMG_7850.jpg

And then the wallet - I had so many ideas... But I really feel like Mike has been overdone - so who else, but Randall? I appliqued him in the same fabric as the wallet, so that he is "camoflaged"... I really love how his eyes turned out!

IMG_7846.jpg

So, that's it! I hope you enjoyed this bag - it is (again) one of my all time favorites... I just love doing 3D effects on my bags - when I can.

D~

:worship: What a different idea. How cool that Boo can play Hide and Boo Seek. The expression on Randall's face is spot on. :lmao:

I have on my list of thing to do to try the felt method, but haven't so far. I love all the 3-D accents. Way to go.

Mama Melrose is my favorite at DHS. My family loves Italian food so we end up eating there and usually Tutto Italia every trip.

I think I like Mama Melrose so much for sentimental reasons. We celebrated what would have been my Dad's 62 birthday there when we went in 2010 (He passed away in 2007). My mom and I are headed back there in November I think mainly for that reason. From what I remember of our meal in 2010 it was very good and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant.

I have heard the meal at the Grand Floridian with the Step Sisters is the best one for "big kids". The Sisters are a blast and really go far with their characters. I tried to get Dani and I into that meal, but they were all booked up by the time I thought of it. I was surprised to find availability at Chef Mickeys only a few weeks out, but now I know why :headache: Like I said though...I would give it another chance. It may have just been an off night. And I give the character CMs credit....we missed all the characters because we were waiting in line forever for our food, but once we complained about it, they made sure each one came back to us. Except Minnie and they took us to her instead. So they tried to make up for the bad experience ::yes::

I have eaten twice at CM and once was great it was Jan 2010 and just the kids and I. The second time was August 2010 and it was just so so. The characters really couldn't be bothered with us.

I think we are one of the only families that does not like 1900 Park Fare. The food was just so-so; the character interaction was ok, but nothing great, The service was horrible. And the WAIT! We were almost an hour past our ADR time before we were seated. (and yes, we arrived 20 minutes BEFORE our ADR time)

My husband said under no circumstances would he go back again! That is the ONLY restaurant he has ever said this about.

And while I did say the Chef Mickey's was a little iffy last year, I do have to say that in the past it has always been superlative! Especially in 2009, when we were the family of the day and got to open up the restaurant! The pictures of Mickey escorting the girls to their table were priceless!

We got some of the spandex shorts at Old Navy and we got some at Rugged Wearhouse. Do you have Rugged Wearhouse out here? It is like a Marshalls or a Ross. The spandex are more expensive than I like to spend but I also insist that the girls wear something under their skirts. These days with the skirts being worn so short, they have to have something under them. Chopping off some leggings might be the way to go. Or I'd be you could easily make some with bathing suit lining material. With a Joanns coupon you could probably make at least a few pairs for what you'd pay for a single pair in the store.

We liked 1900 Park Fare. But is has been several years since we've eaten there. The characters were super sweet with my girls when they were little. I have noticed that the older the kids get, the less time the character seem to spend with them at the bigger restaurants.

Sorry it's taken so long for me to post my Big News. There's been a little fly in the ointment that has been mucking up the works. Actually the fly is husband size, if you know what I mean.

If you've followed, memorized, and dreamed about all of my posts you know that I have one son living in New York City and one in California. It seems that living half way between them would be ideal. After extensive research, including consulting with Google earth, mapquest, and Siri the exact half way point is

My husband's a little tentative about moving, but that's just because he doesn't know you yet.

:3dglasses I just need you to look out your window and see if there's a For Sale sign on it.

Because if there is :moped: I'm on my way.

Isn't that the best news ever??

:banana::banana::banana:

and just for good measure

While I wait for you to check for the sign, I can finally share my UPPB.

Because I like to travel I like things to be convenient, both when I pack and when I'm "on location." I designed, modified, created, redesigned, made a prototype, adjusted, converted, redid (more times than I want to admit to), adapted, customized, refashioned, and tweaked my UPPB.

I'm not in competition with you, of course. Mine doesn't have any hand applique, LCM (LTM? LCD? whatever) thread, quilting, or Disney characters, but it is otherwise perfectamento. If I do say so myself :o

If you want me to do a tute for it I'd be glad to, but it would need to be picture heavy so I want to make sure your photobucket will hold all the necessary photos.

As one who does not like to beat around the bush or otherwise keep people waiting,

I would like your PTR (:wave2: Andrea) to be the site of the unveiling of my UPPB.

Love the pics and I love how you are making ADRs before your trip is even booked.... you are a true DISer.:rotfl2:

We love CM and 1900 PF but I would be careful about booking that on your first night since they have the cancellation policy. Just in case you run late with your flight I would hate to see you hit with $30 no show fee.

:rotfl2: You are too much :rotfl:

You are the only person I know that can sew on plastic bags and make it so CHIC:rolleyes1

Well, I know Andrea will be happy about this... I've started drafting my pattern. Lord only knows how long it will take me, but I have come to the conclusion that I just cannot possibly keep up with all these bags. I do know that the pattern will be for personal use only though - I have given that part a lot of thought.

D~
:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Personal use is fine -- I don't sell things anyway. There will be an easy/beginner's version I hope.

We got some of the spandex shorts at Old Navy and we got some at Rugged Wearhouse. Do you have Rugged Wearhouse out here? It is like a Marshalls or a Ross. If you are like my dd and play cat in your leggings you accrue a large selection of leggings with holes in the knees. I have several sitting in the sewing room waiting to be chopped off. We are lucky though, an old neighbor gave us tons of bike shorts so dd has about 20 pairs to wear under her skirts.
