Glad to hear Josh was so neighborly and took the water issue on himself. He should run for Mayor being the problem solver he is.
We actually have a very good Mayor right now... She is coming over this afternoon to keep me company in my sewing room... She wanted me to put her to work - but I have no idea what to have her do?
That would irk me re: the schools. Our school irked me this year too. They did not do orientation for elementary. The kids never go, but this is the parent's chance to meet teachers. We already know Alexa's teacher but ds has a new one. So I went in to drop supplies off early in order to meet her. It turned out well because Ben got to meet her too this way. Our school is also adding an indoor green house and science room which I was pleased to see.
It is irksome... but I read over the letter from the school again yesterday, and their first day (orientation) - they are only supposed to show up with a pencil, schedule and lunch... So, I am thinking it is a true orientation.
Sounds like your kids have an awesome school and it's great that Ben got to meet his teacher and see his room.
I am not sure where the summer went either

But looks like you had a great time at the lake house.
We did, thank you Michelle!
Any more news yet...... we are waiting
I feel like I am always waiting on Cheryl...
Plus if you charge the gift cards/airfare using your Disney Visa you can get more money in return!!!
Would you believe that I don't have a Disney Visa? I have to use my Target Check card to purchase the gift cards, so I can get my additional -5%... But a Disney Visa would be awesome for airfare...
All are okay D~! The one sister we could not reach was without power and cell service. Only minor wind damage...lost shingles and fences (which come off/down with any wind!) My sister in Lafitte has no water in her house, but because the roads surrounding her still have a lot of water, she can not go home yet. Otherwise the minor irritation of still being without power is starting to make the natives restless!
But all are safe!
Glad to hear about the inlaws house...i did a little googling about the business...I know about the original business, but that is really an interesting project they have going down there.
Take care!
Lynn
Thank you so much for the update Lynn, I am so relieved for you that everyone is safe!
Yes, I agree - it is an interesting project down there. Like I said, I don't know much about it, but I have seen pictures and it looks to be quite large.
happy to hear everyone is safe and sound!
hope the shopping trip is good and you get home quickly! bummer about the school stuff, Megan had her's on Monday and got everything, so much better they know where to go on the first day!
enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Ummm, yah - we didn't get home quickly at all...
Great pics D~, the girls look happy to share the back seat with their "pillow"! I hope you have had fun shopping!!!
It was a lot of fun... but it was a LONG tiring day - that's for sure!
And yes, Max loves it when the girls give him their undivided attention... He is exactly like everyone's perpetually 7 year old brother - always wanting to play and insisting on it.
Glad to hear that they just lost power and no major damage!! I also just found out that friends of our in Mississippi ended up with no major damage also, just lost power.
Oh - good - I am glad that everyone is OK!
I agree where did this summer go!!! I know have a big Kindergartener!!!

And I am still trying to figure out how the heck I got nominated to be the Primary Room Parent when all I signed up for is Assistant!!! Oh well we'll figure it out!
Awww... It's always so hard to send them off to Kindergarten... LOL about being the primary room parent - I did that once...
I guess one of the good things about summer being about over is we're getting closer to the time that it will be my turn for the new bag!!!
LOL Yes, we are getting closer!
It sounds to me like you need to make your own over the door shoe hanger with larger pockets to accommodate all your fabric scraps. I love those over the door shoe racks. I use one in the coat closet for gloves and hats. And I use one in the sewing room to organize my serger threads. Each pocket is just the right size to keep 4 cones of thread.
Yes, maybe - I did think of that once... Then I decided I was too lazy and purchased a 2nd one to hang underneth it. LOL I don't think my pockets are as big as yours? I am not sure if they would hold 4 cones of thread?
My girls started school last week. They are both still in the same school so there is no orientation etc this year. It is strange that they want the kids to come in early to put their stuff away and find their lockers. Isn't that what part of orientation is for????
That was my thinking too... So, that's why I was a bit nervous... but once I read the letter again yesterday - I really think their first day is a true orientation.
Have fun at MOA. I got a text from a friend yesterday that Hollister has sweat pants on sale this weekend for $15. We might run into our mall and pick up a pair for Sara later today since that is a good price. Don't stress about your sewing. I'm sure you will finish all of it and it will be amazing.
Yes, their sweatpants were $15... We didn't get any, because my girls have a bunch already, but we did take advantage of a bunch of deals!
I sure hope so, I am going to go up and chain myself to my machine as soon as I am done here.
When my kids were in elementary the Friday afternoon before school started there was always an open house so that the kids could meet their teachers and so could the parents. We would bring in their school supplies and set them up in their cubbies/desks. It really helped my older dd with anxiety about the first day. Your school sounds pretty snazzy with an indoor green house and a new science room. My girls' school finished up a 2 year renovation over the summer. This will be their first year at middle school without a ton of construction going on.
I wish our schools did that - it would be nice...
Yesterday was crazy! I can't even begin to tell you how crazy it was!
It started off with us going to the PO - which was closed for another 30 minutes, I couldn't sit there and wait for it to open, because we were on a time limit yesterday. Really upset about this, because I forgot it is a holiday weekend, and now there is no mail until Tues.
Then, I had to run to Target to grab my schedule for this upcoming week... Ran in, ran out - didn't buy a thing.
Then, to the bank to get cash for our adventure...
We made it to the MOA at 10:01... We found a supurb parking spot.
And then we started to shop... We had our list of things the girls "needed", and just went from store to store.
Josh wanted to meet up with us after he got off of work (crazy man... Holiday weekend, the last weekend before BTS... Not good)
We had every intention of putting items on "hold" and purchasing them after Josh got there, but it was a zoo... If I was to rate the MOA yesterday - I would compare it to our 9.8 day at MK... True insanity!
Believe it or not - our best deals were scored in Hollister... Despite popular belief - they do have the BEST sales, and yesterday was even better because it was 50% off of redlines.

Victoria ended up with 4 pairs of jeans (1 white pair), 1 skirt, 8 layering tank tops, 1 sweater, 1 button up shirt, 1 tee shirt and 1 dressier shirt for about $175. All of her jeans were cheaper than what I could buy them at Target for (excluding clearance).
The lines at Hollister reminded me of Disney... There was a line for the dressing rooms that was about a half hour wait. There was a line to check out that was about a half hour wait... I really could have used FP...

There was no way Josh would have stood in lines like that - so I am glad we decided to start purchasing before he got there.
Allison didn't get quite the deals that V did, but she still did pretty well, and ended up with a few new things.
Both girls had a budget, and made some great choices.
By the time Josh got there - we were all starving, and first order of business was LUNCH... which was over priced, and little portions.

BUt whatever, we left with satisfied bellies, and happier attitudes.
Last order of business was to find V a pair of "not dress shoes, not tennis shoes, but wearable with all her clothes"... She found a pair (finally), and we were out of the mall... Did I mention it was crazy there?
The girls and I rushed home, and totally missed the PO... I was even more upset about this, because I thought we might make it.
We were all so tired - I never even made dinner last night - which is never done. We all fended for ourselves.
I went to bed early, because I had woken at 1:30am, and couldn't make myself fall back to sleep... So, I was really tired.
Now, today - school shopping is DONE!!! The girls still have some $$ left, but I think they are saving that for a week or 2 to see what everyone else has? And I am chaining myself to my machines for today, it's my goal to finish my latest bag and the matching wallet by the end of the day. If I can just sit there and get it done - with out interuption - I should be able to do it.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!
D~
