Sorry been MIA too" August has been a whirlwind! Two Disney trips and then getting the kiddies ready for back to school on Tuesday. DH and I love love loved the WL, so nice and romantic for our couples trip, and YC was lovey too! Had a wonderful meet up with the RC ladies....yes a few drinks were had. :p
Missed our lovey Jeanette....boo! Next time, or when we come to explore NYC!

The Poly was great too, the kids had a wonderful time. Lots of swimming though, it was smokin hot!!:beach: we enjoyed swimming at the GF.... Did I say that out loud?? Ooooops!

Anyway, love to all, I promise to stop in more. Just have to get through Tuesday....a few tears may be shed by Mama when no one is looking.

 Thursday is my cry day! And I also will be here more after this week is over. Time to plan the next one, right friends???

I'm waiting for ME. This was really such a wonderful trip. So much fun meeting and hanging out with my RC friends! I fly home tonight, unpack, pack again, board another plane and then ..... my son's wedding is Friday!!!!

Glad you had a fantastic time with your DH! And I know I will be a crying fool when I send my kids to school. Almost makes me tears thinking about it now.

Glad your trip went really well! Congratulations to your son and fiancé!

Wookie Kim!! I am so sorry I missed it, all the worry is over! LAWSUIT DROPPED :cheer2:

Busy weekend, crazy week!
Wanted to pop in and welcome back all our late summer RCers!!! Can't wait to hear your stories!!!!!:thumbsup2

Wookie-Thanks for the positive words!!! I was so over the drama Fri but she was a rock star this weekend.

Went to our amazing Renn Fest yesterday -- too much fun! Almost done with our MNSSHP costumes, finally! DD1 is walking more but prefers crawling still. Hoping for news any day now... *fingers crossed*

Good Afternoon!

An update:
The stray dog we found is now ours! DH took him to the vet last week and he did test + for heart worm and had two ticks. :( We have started treatment on those and he is doing great. We have put an ad out in case there is someone out there looking for him, but the vet said it's highly unlikely. So, here we are with two doggies! Milo and Gunner. :) Gunner won't be going to the same boarding facility as Milo. He is staying with out vet and during that time he will be getting neutered and making sure everything is OK.

We are also 6 days out from departure day. We have a busy week with an unexpected baby shower on Saturday evening, so there will be lots of cleaning and organizing and packing to be done by Sunday. I want everything done early. The dogs are leaving Sunday and we are going to a brunch so it's imperative it is done.

It's been several years since we've been to our local Renn Fest. I would love to get back to it. The last time we were there, one of our favorite acts wasn't there. It's a Texas bagpipe and drum band, and I don't think they are touring like they used to. Oh, well, I would love to get back to see my other favorite act. It's a comedy group called Don Juan & Miguel.

I didn't sleep much, so I can't remember if you said or not. What are y'all going dressed as for MNSSHP?

Slow start...but my TR is up and running RC friends :grouphug:

That's great!! I would have loved to have been able to keep the fur-babies that were visiting us, but we couldn't. Luckily their owner has become more responsible and they haven't showed up on our back porch again. Plus, they added a kiddie pool to the fenced in area to make sure the dogs have enough water.

Well, the DH didn't have any service calls today, so we ran errands. First up was a stop at Payless to get the DH a new pair of shoes. While he was trying his on, I looked at women's shoes and found a pair of plaid ones. The woman working there came by to tell us it was the first day of their BOGO sale. They may not be the Converse I normally wear, but they are plaid...and under $13. Other than flip flops, I haven't bought myself any shoes since our 2012 trip (that I can remember). I mainly bought them for my upcoming trip.

Then after getting an oil change and the minivan inspected, and picking a "sick kid" up from school, we had a scary moment while driving to get lunch. The hubby and I both saw the guy get on the highway to our right and one lane over. This guy was smart enough to put a mattress on top of two smaller box springs in the bed of his truck, and then not tie them down in any way. When he went to speed up to get on the highway, the mattress caught some air and flew into our lane in front of our van. Luckily, it was just the mattress and not the box springs.

Which makes me think...am I the only one here that names their vehicle? This minivan actually started out with one name and then the DH changed it.

Hello RC friends!! We're back from our recent adventures, which included ASMu and a quick budget Disney trip with our APs, then a quick overnight for a relatively local 1/2 marathon, then Paris and London! I'm way too behind to catch up entirely, but I'm jumping back in. We had a great time in Paris/London (and with three boys, they certainly make Disney trips, beach trips and US city trips like San Francisco, NYC and Seattle seem super easy, super relaxing and super inexpensive!)

Pas, glad I'm back for the start of your report - at least I won't be behind there!

As for ASMU, wow! As some may recall, my expectations were not that high for $67/night, but it was a last-minute quick trip with the kids and a new adventure. I'm happy to report that we had a great time and tons of fun! ASMu exceeded my expectations entirely. Bus service was generally outstanding. Our 7-year-old loved the food court at Movies (and Movies in general.) Disney was able to honor our request for the Broadway section, which was very well-themed. The grounds were impressive for a value, particularly with all the trees and the courtyard area outside of Jazz. The size of the room was just fine and the new linens are outstanding!!! Love the triple sheeting - really narrows the difference between value and deluxe for me. After this stay, we decided we're unlikely to return to a mod for a short or budget stay - we'd go either deluxe or value.

So I'm not giving up CL at AKL, GF or BWI in January to go value, but for a short stay, ASMu was great. We'd like to try Art of Animation sometime, but just a Little Mermaid room - for the price of a suite, we'd stay deluxe.

Great to hear you had a great stay. We are the same with values..I'd take a value over a mod as well. Now we added villas into the mix though :rotfl:

Who the heck drives with ANYTHING on the top of their car unsecured???UGH

Congrats on the new pup, also glad the vet will have him so it's one less thing to worry about when you go in 5 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dance3:

You did! Thank you! And you are not the only one who names their car;)

We argued about the name for this one, and I lost. Since the DH and I love the song "Black Betty" and the minivan is black, I originally wanted to name it Betty. I didn't because I had a white Ford Explorer for years named Betty, because it made her Betty Ford. Due to that, the minivan started as Natalie. The thinking was it's a black minivan, and our last name is Swann. Natalie Portman was in the movie Black Swan, so it made sense. The DH didn't like that, so he changed it to Betty.

Oh and we don't "wash the car", we "give Betty a bath." :lmao:

I guess he thought that since it was in the bed of his truck, it would be fine. He probably would have been if he hadn't gotten on the highway, where he needed to go 65. I just can't imagine having anything of any size in the open bed of a truck without using something to tie it down.

YAY for expanding families and for the vet being able to help your sweetie!
Even bigger YAY for being soooooooo close!!!!

I admit I am a Rennie... though not as hardcore as some at the MD festival. I worked there for a season before DH and I got married (as a vassal to the king and a libations manager) and it's the best job I've ever had! I went to the MDRenn Fest for the first time when I was 7, so it's great to take DD7 the last few years... brings back memories!

It's funny you mention acts disappearing -- I'm so bummed about some of the EPCOT staples leaving! At least we can grab them this trip but I was looking froward to my ILs seeing Mo Rockin' and a few others. :sad1:

LOVE the shoes!!! So awesome!
I am absolutely appalled by what some people do and the ignorance by which they function!!! Seriously!
Also, DH names the cars... and his motorcycles (when he has them). I just call them 'the car' and 'the truck' but think we have to name them when we move to Japan -- their cars are so cute!

We debated doing a Value/CR split this trip but the military rate was snatched up super fast. Honestly, I love the theming of Values but DH's height is the double bed dealbreaker... still, try to snag a king on a couple's only trip sounds like a plan down the road!!!

Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation, though!!! Jealous of all the fun stops! :upsidedow

*@*
Still waiting... *sighs* DH goes back and forth between being angry and being complacent about it all. I'm just frustrated because it's out of our hands. We joke about 'hurry up and wait' in the military but it's so true! I'm also worried info will come down while we're at Disney (as has happened on TWO of our trips before) and he'll have to spend part of vacation logging on or making phone calls. ((One trip was cut short a day because he had to leave early and another we spent a day at DL finding cell phone reception while touring the parks so he could stay in contact))... BLEH!

On the planning side, I'm afraid I have irked my TA. I called WDW to try to move DD7's BBB rezzie around (I know TA could do it but it's easier for me to have a list of possible options than go back and forth with her) and the CM on the phone mentioned the WL resort credit for the pool. I explained that wasn't for everyone and she said it was, so I got off the phone a little miffed - I'm so tired of faulty info and unnecessary drama when you call the CMs. This is the third time I've had issues with phone CMs and it's a running joke about how misinformed they are!!!
Due to all of this, I wanted to touch base with Disney basically saying "you need to do something about all this because it's causing headaches" but I checked with my TA first -- I didn't want anything to come back on her because she really has passed any info she gets to us ASAP. I think she thought I was upset with HER (I explicitly stated I wasn't) and she reiterated she had given us all the info she had when she got it.

FWIW, I called the number of the lady in Guest Services I spoke with last trip after some of our bumps and explained the situation to her (just that they may want to have universal info re: discounts, to do better at notification - I still haven't gotten a letter about the pool - and other stuff). She was super friendly and helpful and apologized for the unnecessary drama and put me in touch with WL to talk to someone about any requests we had. I asked the WL CM about some things and she was super helpful and I feel much better about staying there than I did after dealing with the drama, but now I'm worried my TA is frustrated with me. DH's opinion is that it's better to have aired my frustration now and try to deal with it than to have more hiccups at check-in that push things over, and that I was so worked up about everything I wasn't enjoying the anticipation but after talking to the CMs today, I am so I'm worrying over nothing. *shrugs* oh well -- here's to the next week flying by!!!

:grouphug: to all!

That's great you could get in touch with a WL CM to ease your mind. I did something similar and got in touch with the Poly (way back when). It is the one thing I don't like about having a TA, I hate to bother someone when I know I can just make a phone call directly. Then again, I have issues with control perhaps :confused3 Don't worry about your TA, it is their job to take care of this stuff....and one week

We used to go yearly. The Mother's Day after we had our oldest son, we went and actually rented costumes. I was a bar wench, and I couldn't wear (ugh, how to say this to make sure I don't get in trouble) modern over the shoulder undergarments. Let's just say the combination of that, and how well the Lord blessed me in that area, I got several comments from some of the comedy shows.

It's funny you mention acts disappearing -- I'm so bummed about some of the EPCOT staples leaving! At least we can grab them this trip but I was looking froward to my ILs seeing Mo Rockin' and a few others.

I read that. I'm bummed about it too. I was hoping to see several of them, especially Off Kilter.

LOVE the shoes!!! So awesome!

Thanks. I love anything plaid.

I am absolutely appalled by what some people do and the ignorance by which they function!!! Seriously!

I know. I really don't know how they don't go the way of the Dodo.

Also, DH names the cars... and his motorcycles (when he has them). I just call them 'the car' and 'the truck' but think we have to name them when we move to Japan -- their cars are so cute!

I can't wait to read about your adventures in Japan. It's one of the places I really want to visit. I found a man that still makes Japanese swords like they used to. The only downside is he doesn't allow women in his workshop. I can't remember the reason, but I think it has something to do with women historically not being allowed in the areas where they make swords.

TY - I appreciate the support! I hate making waves but after the hiccups we had last trip I just didn't want to walk into more drama. Also, my TA has been wonderful but I still like to have some control over the rezzie... too many things to tweak!!!

We used to go yearly. The Mother's Day after we had our oldest son, we went and actually rented costumes. Thanks for the support! I'm def glad I called because now that I've talked to them and feel better I realize how much it was weighing on my mind!

I know what you mean about the lack of... support in Rennie costumes! One year, the theme of faire was about Anne of Cleaves visiting the King (Henry) and the joke was her family 'throwing their Cleav-age in our faces'... I was about 15 and remember it vividly. Still cracks me up!

I am bummed about Off Kilter a lot -- mostly because our good friends LOVE them and are out of country now so will miss them totally! Can't figure out why all the changes!!!

I promise to provide photos and stories of Japan if we go! We're thinking of doing HK Disney over DD7's spring break - want to do it before Shanghai opens and 'off' Hong Kong's schedule. Also, it's lots cheaper than Tokyo Disney (which is CRAZY expensive!!!:scared1:)

*@*

I am eagerly awaiting the last few pieces of our costumes for MNSSHP. We're doing an UP theme for the group (DH - Carl, me - Ellie, DF - Russel, DD7 - Kevin, DD1 - Dug) and I've been busting my hump to come up with costumes for <$20 each. So far, so good but I really want all the pieces to get together before the weekend in case something comes up!

Tonight, I passed the time by decorating my MB! I found some great jewel stickers in the scrapbook aisle at Michael's and went nuts! My phone is arguing with my computer right now so I can only upload to FB but hoping to email a copy and post it for RC opinions!

Hope everyone has a good Thursday!!! :cheer2:

I can't believe how many times I've made changes to our trip. We added a day to the beginning of our original trip, which is Dec 11-16, but there wasn't any availability at the original resort we booked which is CR. So I thought "hey, why not try AKL since I doubt we'll try it any other time. Plus, it's just one night and I want to do the Sunrise Safari before they close it." So I added a package for Dec 10-11 at AKL CL since I wanted to add the DxDP to get some extra dining credits. I thought we were going to fly out the earliest flight, which would get us to MCO at 9am. But that changed since my bf has finals on the 10th and doesn't get out until about 12pm. So I had to change our flight to a 3:50pm flight, which has us land at MCO at 7pm. So since we were going to be arriving late, we wouldn't need the ticket or the dining plan for that reservation anymore so I cancelled it last week to book a RO reservation. Now, I just got a CRT breakfast at 8:15am on my birthday, which is Dec 11. So if we did the Sunrise Safari, we wouldn't make it to CRT, and I'd rather do CRT.. So now it's back to looking at different resorts that are closer to MK so it would be an easy switch and we could make it to our ADR in time. WL would be our cheapest option, followed by the Poly, then GF, and the CR (which has limited availability left). Not sure which to choose... :confused3

Yea. I was thinking of doing that one night at GF since it's so expensive. It's about $30 more or so than our AKL CL booking, and that's only for a Lagoon View, no CL. Does anyone know how to get from the GF to MK for an early ADR?
