As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Quick note!
Hope all our RCers are having a blast and welcome back to those who are journeying back.

Finally finished the first major step to Japan... took 3 weeks and LOTS of pressure. 'Hurry up and wait' is truly the name of the game. Hoping to hear in next 10 days but reeeeally want to know before Disney!!!

*hugs* to all!!!

Hi RCers :hippie:

Just a quick pop in to say hi to everyone and wish all the RCers at WDW right now happy vacation and hope you have/had lots of WDW pixie dust! :wizard:

I am just back from BWI and happy to say it is still a top-2 resort for me. We had a nice 4th floor water view room with the big balcony located over Flying Fish just around the corner from actual front the boardwalk (yes, another "funnel cake view" for those who remember my last stay :thumbsup2). While it was certainly very hot, the humidity was low and afternoon storms were predictable and occurred both days while we were back at the room recharging after morning parks and pool time. I had a nice RC meet at AK with JanetB and family, too. All good fun and, of course, I can't wait for my next WDW adventure.

Happy belated birthday pas130. I loved Treasure Island when I lived there, I can totally see why your DH is home-hunting. :lovestruc

I'm glad you made it home safely. Sounds like it was a great trip.

WOO HOO!! Hopefully the rest of the steps don't take three weeks each to complete.

Tomorrow I am driving to my mom's house to help take one of her dogs to the vet. My mom's back is hurting too badly for her to go and my dad really can't do it by himself.

Also, I am so annoyed with a neighbor that lives one house over. They have been leaving their yellow lab and baby beagle out in the 100+ F temps and judging by the amount of water they drank when they came in our house, they aren't giving them enough water during the day. This is the 2nd time in less than a week that I have had to take the lab back home. This time, they had no clue they were missing.

:wave2:

Just popping in to say that we just got back from our trip. Boy, was it a roller coaster though. Overall, it was a good trip, but certainly not our best.

So many things factored into it. My being just under 20 weeks pregnant during the hottest week in Florida....we really did not care for BC very much....the Villains party left a lot to be desired.

On the plus side, we picked up cute stuff for little Mason, and now that we are home and the trip is out of the way we can just focus on getting ready for our little guy.

We are excited to try the CR on our next trip, but I can't even think about digging into the planning for that one until I decompress from this one.

Hope everyone is well!! :goodvibes

If they are going to leave their dogs outside, the dogs need adequate shelter from the weather and access to water. Not doing this is neglect. I would try to talk to them about it. Some people just don't realize. The dogs are lucky that you are next door. Thanks for taking the time to be kind to those animals :wizard:

I'm glad y'all made it home safely, but I'm sad to hear the trip wasn't as magical as your family deserves it to have been.

Thank you. My family is big on dogs. In fact, today I drove an hour to my mom and dad's house to take my mom's female dog to the vet. Both of her dog are rescue dogs that came into the shelter my sister volunteered at while she was going to law school in NOLA. Two different times (one for each dog) my parents drove from North Texas to NOLA to pick up dogs.

The dogs are in a chain link fenced in area that is for their above ground pool. The pool isn't there, but the stairs and the decking that went along one side of it are still there. It doesn't look like they have enough water and since she didn't know they were missing, must not check on them much.

Welcome back! I wish the weather had been nicer for you. I read about about the Villains party, don't know what WDW was thinking. They shouldn't oversell parties.
I'm sorry BC wasn't the best, but I bet you had a blast finding things for little Mason. I think time is going to fly between now and Jan.
Hope you have some time to put your feet up and relax.:goodvibes Always good to hear from you!

Thanks ladies!!! It wasn't horrible, just not the greatest....but with this being the 5th year in a row, we were due for a dud, lol!!

We are looking forward to CR in April though!! :thumbsup2

I heard about the oppressive heat. We even got a taste of it too. I'm sure that wasn't fun being pregnant either.

What about Beach Club was so-so?

I think it was a bunch of little things that just added up.

I will say, to note something positive, that we were upgraded from a standard view to a lagoon view (same thing happened to us at YC), so that was cool! :thumbsup2

But, I will say that BC is very much in need of refurb, which is obviously starting so that's great. We found the furniture to be very dinged up. DH opened the closet door upon arrival, and it fell off. :rolleyes2. He fixed it. There was a huge gauge taken out of the wall near the sliders....cosmetic, but unsightly.

Mousekeeping was pretty good in the room, but we saw that people would put their dishes outside of their rooms and it would stay there...for days....:confused3

Obviously the CL lounge is in a temporary location, and it was very small. It did have a great view of the Boardwalk, but small. Again, the offerings weren't great...lots of fried items....I think we have decided that the extra expense of CL is no longer worth it to us....which is good for our checking account. :rotfl:

I loathe that the buses pick up at YC first. They were nearly almost always full by the time they got to BC. Thank God there are still some kind people out there who gave up their seats when they saw my bulging belly, but the rest of my family usually had to stand. :(

Also, and this is a personal thing, and not at all related to pregnancy, because I felt this way last time, but I hate the smell of the Marketplace. I don't know what it is, but yuck! And every time we got on or off the elevator, there it was.

Lastly, the lobby is always a cluster. YC was so much more serene.

I don't know...we LOVE the proximity to Epcot and DHS, but we would chose YC over BC any day (like the YC theming more too). I just don't think we'd chose BC again. Glad we tried it and get to check it off of our list.

We have only stayed at YC of the Epcot area resorts. I liked it but didn't love it like I do poly/cr/gf.

I agree YC seems nicer than BC.

Amazing how weather can enhance or damper a trip. Dd and I had a so-so trip in June to to cloudy rainy days. Yet, August heat and rain we enjoyed! It was sunny every morning, we were back to resort at the pool by 1pm then didn't care if it rained 2:30-4. At least we had SOME sun and pool time:rotfl2:

We love cr and I think your family will love it too. Give a "pat" to baby Mason for me. I love to touch bellies :)

I would love to hear any fun things your family did or enjoyed ! Dd and I loved the frozen snow at 11am . I also bought some Olaf things to bring home too.

Just popped in to say hello. I've just been watching The Simpsons and knitting.

The boys started back to school on Tuesday, and so far it's been going good. Since Joey still hasn't been cleared by a doctor to work out, he has to film to stay in football. This means he even films at games. Tonight he films the Freshmen home game. He also lost he brand new Jansport backpack...on the first day. He has to climb this tower to film, and I never understood if he left it on the ground or took it up on the tower with him. When football was over, he was more concerned with getting the filming equipment up than making sure he had his backpack. As soon as he got in the minivan, I asked him where it was and he went to look for it, and it was gone. He even asked the coaches and they didn't know where it was. Luckily, he still had his backpack from last year, which I found his school given tablet in that he had "look every where for and couldn't find" all Summer. Anyway, he got to football Wednesday afternoon, and his backpack was in the same spot he had left it in, but it had a large red thermos like water jug type water cooler attached to it. We're both thinking one of the coaches did it. They had been talking about wanting to do something special for him since he has done such an amazing job, and he is willing to tape for as many of the teams as they need him to. I think they did it this way, so the other students didn't know they did something special for just him. Also, they know that he's more concerned about getting all the film they need and not climbing down from the tower to get something to drink. Since we are having such high temps, he really needs to drink water.

I hope everyone is having a great week!!

Yeah, I love that BC is so close to HS and Epcot, but it sounds like things will be off until the renovation is done. And even then, I've heard the transportation to MK and AK wasn't great. :sad2:

And like you said, you've tried it and you know you won't need to stay there again.

Well, today so far has been interesting. When I was taking the dog out this morning for our run, we had a stray follow us home. He is some sort of shepherd mix ... quite beautiful actually! I've given him a bowl of water and some food (he is quite skinny). He doesn't have any tags and it appears as though he hasn't lived in a home for quite some time. When DH comes home I plan on taking him to the shelter, however I would love to keep him. He definitely has been around people before.

It's a stormy day so he's hanging out in the laundry room in the basement... :goodvibes

We are taking him this evening to our vet and we've already put out the word in the community.

Other than that we're getting ready to go! I bought DD some Minnie and princess shirts at the Disney store and she'll wear a different one each day. Everything was 40% off! This is my favorite purchase:
http://www.disneystore.com/minnie-m...t-for-baby-personalizable/mp/1350352/1000388/
They should be here next week. Until then, cleaning, some company coming for the weekend, and doing last minute errands before next Monday.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Labor Day weekend as the summer winds down. :wave2::beach:

I have good news that is even good enough to bring Dancin' Dan out. :dancer:

The lady, the mother of the kid involved in the almost accident, dropped the law suit!! :dancer:

I forgot to do the Double Digits Dance!! Only 95 days until we check into the SoG.

MM - welcome back! I'm sorry BC wasn't up to snuff but glad you still had a good trip. DH and I journeyed over to Marketplace at BC a few times while we stayed at YC and found that with Cape May and the Villas, it just felt more crowded... reminded me of the difference between Oahu v Kauai (BC v YC)... Oahu is fun but often congested and everyone is rushing around to maximize vacation Kauai is more relaxed and chill. ((after typing that I hope that doesn't sound super elitist... living there for 3 years one picks up observations!)

I would love to hear any fun things your family did or enjoyed ! Dd and I loved the frozen snow at 11am . I also bought some Olaf things to bring home too.

I am SOOOOO looking forward to Frozen Fun! Mostly to see DD7's reaction. She's been into the Frozen motif on Club Penguin so she'll flip when she sees it at Disney. She stumbled on a video of the Frozen Sing A Long and is DYING to go so I'm more tickled about the surprise.

I'm so glad that your son is finding a niche and able to participate despite the medical stuff. And I always wonder how kids can lose the darndest things... DD7 came home from preschool one day missing a shoe. She had it when we left the classroom and it was gone by the time we got to the car!!! :confused3

I hope you can keep the puppy but also know the timing isn't fun - right before the trip. I love the outfits you got for your cutie!!! I found the girls some matching things and am stoked to rock em!

Hope you have a blast as your countdown winds even lower!

LOVE news like that! A great burden lifted and the triple digits sliding away! :woohoo:

DD7 is driving us crazy with her mood swings lately!!! I'm not sure if it's getting back into the rhythm of school, the fact she's focusing all day so she's compensating at night, or the impending move but I swear the attitude is driving me bonkers. She has been doing so good with saving money and doing all her chores and then goes and blows the day with one major meltdown. *sighs* I think part of the problem is she is so far ahead of some of her classmates that they are clique-ing off without her because she's such a 'smarty tarty' (a name one called her). The teacher is trying to run interference some (she is making sure to not bring attention to the fact DD is working ahead and rewarding her progress: "Whoever finishes first with the right answers can be line leader to lunch"). Still, it's hard to see DD ostracized from friends she's had the last 2 years... in that sense moving will be good.
One other issue is they have a 'special friends' in her class and the other kids say he is 'slow' and 'off'. Having worked with special ed, I explained to DD that special friends just need more time or more help but they aren't weird or different. I gave an example of the hard time DD is having learning to tie her shoes but the fact she's a math and reading whiz... just somethings take longer. Because she's ahead she likes to read to her friend and help him and the other kids find that off-putting -- I'm proud she doesn't see the difference but sad it's affecting her day.

Other than that, we're just waiting and waiting. Hoping with the long weekend to get some answers tomorrow, otherwise it won't be until mid next week.

On a Disney note, I'm sort of frustrated at the WL thing. TA called to see about the credit and was told pretty firmly no but now I'm wondering if it's worth me writing an email? I just feel somewhat shafted by the fact some people seem to get credits and some don't... especially since a BB ticket won't work for us (I can't do slides and DD1 can't do much of anything). I don't know... I'm just unsettled and wish I had pulled the trigger on switching -- though, honestly, I've been checking since June and options have been really thin.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Yes they do. I actually lost a purse in a cemetery once. We had gone to see my grandfather's stone once it was put up. The cemetery was about 3 hours from our house. While there, I walked around reading the stones and figuring out how old the person was when they passed. I was 13, my grandfather was the first close person to me that I had lost, and it was my way of dealing with it. Anyway, I must have set my purse down and forgot I did it. The next day, my great uncle (I think that's who it was) called and said they had picked up my purse from the police. The cemetery had some issues with vandals at the time and they thought the purse belonged to one of them. When they looked inside, they saw my mom's name on something and knew who she was (it was in a very tiny town). They gave the purse to my great uncle for him to be able to give it back to me.

Thanks you, yes it is. We just think she thought I would pay her money to make the suit go away. When she saw that it wouldn't, and it was going to cost her a lot of time and money, she decided to drop it. The only problem is that she filed it "without prejudice", which means she can file again. She has until June 9, 2016, which is two years from the date of the accident, to file another suit. I don't think she will, but if she does, the insurance company will pay for my attorney again.

I'm just it's just a combination of starting back to school and the upcoming move. Hopefully, things will get quiet soon.

That is terrible about her "friends", but it is there loss for sure. She sounds like an amazing young lady.

Driving home RCers!! Had a fabulous trip. Weather cooperated. It was hot, but its summer and none of my babes complained about the heat. I think I tried and did everything I wanted to and more. Planning our next trip, ans there will be plenty of changes I bet. The OKW villa was perfect for us, my Maddie is requesting AKL CL or WL CL next trip. We so do not need CL so maybe Kidani or VWL...my worry about location was for nothing. Bus service from Okw was the best we've ever had at Disney. Monorails were packed!! We didn't even take a ride LOL oh and I did change from the beach...via text I was able to add a night with the discount so we checked out this morning. Anyone contemplating CRT do it!!!! Breakfast service was fabulous!! TR to follow soon! I got to see Janetb grumpygrandma luvluvluv babyberger....a DISer who must not be named....I missed Jennyjinx and Magic though :( fun was had, oh yes!!! BEST trip ever!!!! Even DH agrees!!!

Sounds like it was a great trip. I can't wait to read more in your TP.

I hope all ears is right, because if it is I'm all :dancer: For the night we have the Candlelight Processional Dining Package booked, they are now showing Neil Patrick Harris. I so hope they are right.

Even though we have the Candlelight Processional dining package, I would still get in line early to make sure we have great seats to be able to take good pictures of him.

Sorry been MIA too" August has been a whirlwind! Two Disney trips and then getting the kiddies ready for back to school on Tuesday. DH and I love love loved the WL, so nice and romantic for our couples trip, and YC was lovey too! Had a wonderful meet up with the RC ladies....yes a few drinks were had. :p
Missed our lovey Jeanette....boo! Next time, or when we come to explore NYC!

The Poly was great too, the kids had a wonderful time. Lots of swimming though, it was smokin hot!!:beach: we enjoyed swimming at the GF.... Did I say that out loud?? Ooooops!

Anyway, love to all, I promise to stop in more. Just have to get through Tuesday....a few tears may be shed by Mama when no one is looking.
