As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

**warning... rant!**
With just 4 days to go (really 3 now with it being midnight), our dryer has died! It turns on, but we get absolutely NO heat! We are currently renters, but we brought our own washer and dryer which means this is on us. The guy is coming to look at it tomorrow at 3 pm, and I'm literally running around with my head cut off! Seriously! This week has been interesting enough with the new dog, an unexpected baby shower and a broken dryer. Anyone else have craziness happen before a trip?

Off to finish hanging the clothes up, and more packing! Thank goodness for the Pandora Disney Park Station!

I hate it when a dryer dies. I do laundry 29/30 days a month!! :laundy:

Be thankful not the washer though, that is worse!!:crazy2: at least you can hang your stuff up:thumbsup2

I'll catch up on the rest of the thread in just a bit, but wanted to comment on this really quick. How does your dryer vent? Does it go straight out of the house, or go up into an attic? I know you have someone coming, but do me a favor and try this....pull the dryer out enough so you can take the vent hose looking thingy off. Then try to dry something in the dryer. If that works, you know it's your vent and not the dryer itself. If it doesn't work, it could be an element or something else within the dryer.

Yea. I was thinking of doing that one night at GF since it's so expensive. It's about $30 more or so than our AKL CL booking, and that's only for a Lagoon View, no CL. Does anyone know how to get from the GF to MK for an early ADR?

I believe monorail and friendship boats will be running... I want to say an hour before park opening? Also, for quick, direct access, cabs are totally worth it!!!
I feel your pain! We've been back and forth on what's 'worth' it for our family - everything from WL CL to CR TPV. We ultimately landed at WL bunk room with the hope to snoop around and scout for future trips. We figure CL will pay off more when the kiddos eat more! :thumbsup2

That stinks!
We had similar happen (same idea, too -- we rent but they are our W/D). DH found out that the vent went under the house and somehow water got in the hose... not sure how, it hadn't rained in days. Once he cleared it, we got the dryer back but it took a good 3 days of diagnostics to figure it out (he's an engineer so he was troubleshooting EVERYTHING).

Rant of my own!!!
I ordered DD1's MNSSHP costume off ebay on August 30 and JUST got an email from the guy last night to say he can't find it and did I want a refund. I'm so mad -- if he had mentioned it earlier in the week, I could've ordered from a different vendor. Now, it's cutting super close!!! I have a 'fallback' if it doesn't get here, but I'm so grumpy.
The rest of the costumes are coming together, though! We are doing UP - DH is Carl, I'm Ellie, DF is Russel, DD7 is Kevin, and DD1 is Dug. All that is left is DD1's pieces and DF's sash (hopefully an hour at most). I also am making tutu skirts for the girls to go with their Elsa/Ana shirts for the Frozen party... because why not fill this last week with 100 projects?! OH, and we're going to a wedding 3 hours away tomorrow. *breathe*

I am ready to go to Disney World!

How is everyone else doing???

:welcome: to the resort changing mania!!! :thumbsup2 You can take the boat to MK from GF prior to park opening.. it goes GF-Poly-MK (or it used to)...or of course they have the early morning buses :) GF or AKL CL are both wonderful. For a early ADR at MK, I would spring for GF. If you haven't already..hit the GF thread LOTS of friendly helpful peeps there! You'll love them!!!

So sorry...of course it happened right before the trip..that's the rule:furious:

AWWWW I love the costumes. Sorry about the eBay issue. Would you believe my girls ended up NOT wanting to wear their A&E dresses since it was so hot??? There's always Halloween I guess:duck:

Thanks!! I think I've changed resorts like 5 times on this trip :laughing:. The only resort we're determined on staying at is CR, which is for most of stay lol. But we switched from YC to BC to WL CL to AK CL and now to GF... I'm excited to try GF since it might be the only time we'll be able to try it.

I only stayed at GF once, it was lovely :) We need two rooms for our family and for the price it's nuts. So I say go for it. I've also done AKL CL and WL CL...LOVE them both!! Only 5 times this trip...there's always time for more ch-ch-changes. The night before CR may open up for the extra night. All the wonderful possibilities! :goodvibes

Can't get into it too much but there is a good chance the Dec trip is crumbling (I'm so upset right now!!!)

I have a pin code for FD over the period and was wondering if I can book a second room with the pin code over the same dates in case the Dec trip does fall apart? We already have plane tickets to Orlando so we would have to pay a change fee of $200/ticket so I'd rather just try to salvage some vacation but won't know if ILs are cancelling until after PIN code expires.

Just would like to cover as many bases as I can.

Hello peeps!

Our trip was way fun, meting up with great friends. It already seems like so long ago with school starting...Some last minute joy... my DS was able to drive up and be with us for 2 days at Disney!!! We loved our stay at YC and when we moved to POR received some pixie dust in an upgrade to a Royal Room water view!! (we had booked standard).

Wookie, whew.. glad that lawsuit is over for now. Chances are probably slim to none they will refile. It’s nice that Joey found his niche – so important in HS. Who knows where it might take him? Oh yeah… Neil Patrick Harris will be amazing! We just missed him last year but no worries… we had Whoopie!!

Dimnigal1: SO close for you! Have a great time! Frozen fun will be awesome! Hoping the school issues will smooth out for her. Too funny about DD7’s missing shoe… :rotfl2: I was always amazed at the number of lost & found items collected in the first week of school.

PixarMom, happy you had a great time at Music! We’ve always had great stays at POP. :thumbsup2 Btw, Sam and I meet 4 people that do the Disney marathons… one mother/daughter are doing them all..TOT, wine & Dine, January, the princess… wow!

Piglet, almost Disney time! Btw, love those adorable T-shirts in the link you posted. And congrats on the new pup! Glad it worked out that you can keep him!

update yes! The girls were totally blown away with upgrade to RPC & I was too!! Rooms are huge. Makes going to regular GF room today look tiny!!!
Other then this, had a great day. Had 2 Dis meets! Lunch with a couple of ladies from BC/YC thread, and another for dinner with Janet & her daughter Sam! Briefly got to meet Linda at MK too!! :goodvibes

:woohoo: for that upgrade!! And Sue, it was great to meet up with you and DD (and having you on RnR for moral support). Went on 3 more times this trip!

Checking in and looking for RC meet up pics! Did any of our RC friends get together on their trips to the World???
I have some big changes to report (see my ticker). I also have a room to cancel for September which I haven't pulled the trigger on yet :confused3:rolleyes1 Maybe if I don't cancel it, I can both F&W AND the cruise? :idea:

Of course keep both!! :goodvibes We are enabling bunch here :teeth:

Trish, I keep watching the fall offer and today, it was there. RPC Deluxe King for three nights. I grabbed it.:yay: Dh doesn't know, I'll keep it for a surprise for awhile. This is his special birthday trip.

:yay: Ginny!! It was meant to be! Hope you can manage to keep it secret until you arrive at GF. his surprise will be so worth it!

Hi RCers :hippie:
Just a quick pop in to say hi to everyone and wish all the RCers at WDW right now happy vacation and hope you have/had lots of WDW pixie dust! :wizard:
I am just back from BWI and happy to say it is still a top-2 resort for me. We had a nice 4th floor water view room with the big balcony located over Flying Fish just around the corner from actual front the boardwalk (yes, another "funnel cake view" for those who remember my last stay :thumbsup2). While it was certainly very hot, the humidity was low and afternoon storms were predictable and occurred both days while we were back at the room recharging after morning parks and pool time. I had a nice RC meet at AK with JanetB and family, too. :hug: All good fun and, of course, I can't wait for my next WDW adventure.

:yay: for that FCV!! :goodvibes And a Disney trip is not complete unless we meet up.:flower3: So happy we got to ride Dinosaur with you and spend a little time with you both afterwards.

Driving home RCers!! Had a fabulous trip. Weather cooperated. It was hot, but its summer and none of my babes complained about the heat. I think I tried and did everything I wanted to and more. Planning our next trip, ans there will be plenty of changes I bet. The OKW villa was perfect for us, my Maddie is requesting AKL CL or WL CL next trip. We so do not need CL so maybe Kidani or VWL...my worry about location was for nothing. Bus service from Okw was the best we've ever had at Disney. Monorails were packed!! We didn't even take a ride LOL oh and I did change from the beach...via text I was able to add a night with the discount so we checked out this morning. Anyone contemplating CRT do it!!!! Breakfast service was fabulous!! TR to follow soon! I got to see Janetb grumpygrandma luvluvluv babyberger....a DISer who must not be named....I missed Jennyjinx and Magic though :( fun was had, oh yes!!! BEST trip ever!!!! Even DH agrees!!!

:yay: Keeping DH Happy = more disney trips!! SO very thankful we got to meet up for a bit! :hug:

Sorry been MIA too" August has been a whirlwind! Two Disney trips and then getting the kiddies ready for back to school on Tuesday. DH and I love love loved the WL, so nice and romantic for our couples trip, and YC was lovey too! Had a wonderful meet up with the RC ladies....yes a few drinks were had. :p
Missed our lovey Jeanette....boo! Next time, or when we come to explore NYC!

Don't forget to let us know too!!

I'm waiting for ME. This was really such a wonderful trip. So much fun meeting and hanging out with my RC friends! I fly home tonight, unpack, pack again, board another plane and then ..... my son's wedding is Friday!!!!

Awesome trip with friends. :hug: and the icing for you.. the wedding! Loved seeing all the pix!

The rest of the costumes are coming together, though! We are doing UP - DH is Carl, I'm Ellie, DF is Russel, DD7 is Kevin, and DD1 is Dug. Loving the UP family costumes. Please post a pic! You are so creative and adventuresome doing this all right before you leave!

As Pas says... go for GF! :cool1: Of course it might not stick but hey you can at least say you had it booked! :rotfl2: Makes for a great Bday celebration!

I believe with a pin code you can book more than one trip with it, as long as the code is still active and there is availability.

WOO HOO for pixie dust!! I'm glad y'all had a fun trip.

I don't think she'll refile either. I think she thought as soon as I got the papers, I would just pay her so I didn't have to deal with the cost of it. I'm sure she thought it would be quick money to get him another vehicle before school started. When the lawyer made it clear to her we would fight it, and she found out how much work and money it was going to be on her, she filed to have it removed.

Well I finished both hats this weekend and I'm going to start another scarf. I'm going to use yarn I have from another scarf. It's going to look a lot like the Doctor Who scarves, just not the same colors as his.

Would you believe my girls ended up NOT wanting to wear their A&E dresses since it was so hot??? There's always Halloween I guess:duck:

Our 7-year-old asked to bring his Kristoff costume last month before thinking about how that might turn out in the August heat. Was hard to leave it behind, but that's what we did. Would have been really cute for him to be wearing it while playing in Frozen Funland, but not so cute the rest of the day! Halloween for sure! And he will wear it for the Disney Family 5K in January.

Janet, happy to hear your son could join you!!! Would love more details on the Royal Room! I've decided it's either deluxe or value for us in the near future, but I'd reconsider a mod to try the Royal Room. (Changing plans I haven't even made yet already!)

Fun to hear about the runners you met - really love the Disney races and would love to do more. I ran two relatively local half marathons this summer, and will run another at the end of this month, but it's hard to beat the runDisney organization and atmosphere! I can see why they are hooked! So excited for January!!

I am ready to go to Disney World!

How is everyone else doing???
So I told dd to work at gymboree while in college. She worked here at home this summer then I told her to ask about transferring to the one near her college. Best part... She loves it:lovestruc

When I worked there as a manager (for years) I felt it was like disney:)

So the other day a grandma came in to buy costumes for mnsshp. She was super helpful with all of her personal experience with gymboree (all she wore due to employee discount) and many trips with her crazy disney addict mom:dance3:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Told my dad mom wants me to take her to disney for chritmas decorations. I need $xxx for airfare, $xxx for tickets, and $xxx for room. I said i would upgrade to cl for her xmas gift:thumbsup2. He wrote me a check right then!!! Woohoo!!!!:cool1:
I booked the room a week ago but was waiting for right time to ask for that much moolah!!! I taught him how to use his garmin gps after i got out of work, thats all it took;)
Daddys girl still has the moves:woohoo:
My mom has only stayed on property once when i took mom and dad to csr in 2011. As kids my mom took us for weekends between sports in high school but we stayed at La Quinta etc. we flew for free with usair (my dad worked there). So were poor kids but went to disney 2/3 times a year. I totally blame them for my addiction(see my signature if you havent yet:rotfl2:)
Maybe next mom and i do mnsshp. She would love the headless horseman:love:
Oh, what a week... and it's only Wednesday
Sorry to drop drama and not spill the info, but here goes:
I got a text this weekend from SIL asking if it will cause any issues with cost if she and her DH cancel for Christmas. It's probably good it was a text as I was totally speechless (can we say floored?) and had to just pass the phone to hubby. He was ready to call her and light it up but I took a few minutes and wrote back that while it didn't impact financially, it would be a bummer if she cancelled. She explained that they had a bunch of expenses coming up (all voluntary) and it would be easier to spend the money on those. We let it drop and sat on it for the better part of the day, and then i had DH text her and explain that A) she needed to tell her parents if they were going to back out, B) they would be forfeiting the time with their nieces, and C) if the problem is they just didn't want to go, they needed to fess up... and soon!
Long story short, they are still 'probably' going, but nothing is set -- no one out west has bought airfare yet!!! :confused3 I'm so worried the trip is going to crumble (if she doesn't go, we can see MIL not wanting to go, and I'm afraid that will just result in no one else going). We have tix to MCO for Christmas so I honestly don't know what would happen. That's why I was debating trying to book a Value under the pin code I have just to reduce the cost of the trip but salvage something.
To top it off, we found out today that the paperwork we are waiting on to say YAY or NAY to Japan has been 'misplaced'. *sighs* Ludicrous...
So, I spent today just doing the last minute crafts for our trip - made DDs tutu skirts to go with their Elsa/Anna shirts, finished up DD1's Dug costume, and totally procrastinated doing laundry. That said, I am super happy with how their skirts came out, I think the costumes work -- we wanted under $20 each and easy enough to ride in -- and DD7 loves her Kevin costume (which was a battle as she was not happy about sacrificing a princess costume).
Needless to say, I am just focusing on next week. I'm a little bummed because I heard Maleficent is only available at the extra ticket event during MNSSHP, but I've decided to make lemonade with that -- with only Piglet on our MUST MEET list, it opens a lot more time to enjoy the party. I'm just ready to go on vacation and get away from it all!!!!!!
Why can't our family cooperate??? My sil/BIL drive us crazy too. My dh won't even book a trip with his sis anymore. :rolleyes2
I keeping thinking about Kim's cute stuff she always takes with her and am starting to think of shirts for mom and I . Anybody any ideas for a mom and me ???
Happy to listen, apparently I am overtired and not sleeping well tonight. Covering for dh while he is in florida dealing with a carpenter ant problem for mil. He also drove her car there for her and will fly home tonight. Which reminds me how the heck does your family expect to get to fla without airfare yet??? That's not a good sign.
I sure miss costumes! What fun! I bet the kids will look great.:cool1:
So, I spent today just doing the last minute crafts for our trip - made DDs tutu skirts to go with their Elsa/Anna shirts, finished up DD1's Dug costume, and totally procrastinated doing laundry. That said, I am super happy with how their skirts came out, I think the costumes work -- we wanted under $20 each and easy enough to ride in -- and DD7 loves her Kevin costume (which was a battle as she was not happy about sacrificing a princess costume).
Needless to say, I am just focusing on next week. I'm a little bummed because I heard Maleficent is only available at the extra ticket event during MNSSHP, but I've decided to make lemonade with that -- with only Piglet on our MUST MEET list, it opens a lot more time to enjoy the party. I'm just ready to go on vacation and get away from it all!!!!!!
Ugh, I would want to strangle the SIL. I hope it works out.
Why can't our family cooperate??? My sil/BIL drive us crazy too. My dh won't even book a trip with his sis anymore. :rolleyes2
I keeping thinking about Kim's cute stuff she always takes with her and am starting to think of shirts for mom and I . Anybody any ideas for a mom and me ???
Happy to listen, apparently I am overtired and not sleeping well tonight. Covering for dh while he is in florida dealing with a carpenter ant problem for mil. He also drove her car there for her and will fly home tonight. Which reminds me how the heck does your family expect to get to fla without airfare yet??? That's not a good sign.
I sure miss costumes! What fun! I bet the kids will look great.:cool1:
I hope you have some of your sanity left when your husband gets back.
I'll see if I can figure out how to make the pictures smaller and I can post some pics of some of the options we had.
Right now I'm working on a scarf. I'm using a pattern for one of the Doctor Who scarves, but using yarn I already have. It's actually the same yarn I used for my MH scarf.
It will be so cute for him to wear his Kristoff costume for the 5K.
WOO HOO!!
Ds loves Dr Who!!!!
Thanks Kim
ok, so the first two are like the ones we are getting. I have to go make dinner, but I'm thinking she had some other cute Christmas t-shirts in her etsy store. I can PM you her information if you like..
These are also from an Etsy store. They are crystal transfers that you have to put on t-shirts yourself. Again, if you want the store information, I'll PM it to you..
Then I am thinking of taking this last picture and tracing it on wax paper and doing a wax paper transfer on red t-shirts...
My main problem is that I have a lot more cute ideas than I have budget for making them happen.
I peeked on etsy this morning. My dd shops there so I knew to look there. ::yes::
I am thinking of making ours (maybe). It's been a long time since I have done that:)
On a side note my mom is Patricia and I am Trisha. Yep, they had a boys name all ready (name after my dad and grandfather)and when I wasn't.... And sisters name was Tammi they decided to name me after my mom.:thumbsup2
Both my mom and her mom have "boy" names and were both named after their dads. My mom is Bobbye and her mom is Andy Doris.
