As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Why can't our family cooperate??? My sil/BIL drive us crazy too. My dh won't even book a trip with his sis anymore. :rolleyes2

I keeping thinking about Kim's cute stuff she always takes with her and am starting to think of shirts for mom and I . Anybody any ideas for a mom and me ???

Happy to listen, apparently I am overtired and not sleeping well tonight. Covering for dh while he is in florida dealing with a carpenter ant problem for mil. He also drove her car there for her and will fly home tonight. Which reminds me how the heck does your family expect to get to fla without airfare yet??? That's not a good sign.

I sure miss costumes! What fun! I bet the kids will look great.:cool1:

It's funny - we travel with my parents a lot (short trips but they also came to visit when we lived abroad) and we NEVER have the issues we have with my ILs!!! My folks also are believers in breaking up an extended trip - spend 3 nights, go somewhere else for a night or two, come back 3 nights... *sighs*

Now that I'm done piecing everything together, I'm excited for MNSSHP! DD1's Dug costume turned out better than I imagined, esp since I am not good with a needle!

It will be so cute for him to wear his Kristoff costume for the 5K.
WOO HOO!!
Ugh, I would want to strangle the SIL. I hope it works out.
I hope you have some of your sanity left when your husband gets back.

I'll see if I can figure out how to make the pictures smaller and I can post some pics of some of the options we had.

Right now I'm working on a scarf. I'm using a pattern for one of the Doctor Who scarves, but using yarn I already have. It's actually the same yarn I used for my MH scarf.

OMG, I LOVE, LOVE the pics you posted! I am so torn on shirts now!!! Thinking of getting the lights and sparkles! Too many decisions!!!

So, after a ridiculous week and 2 months of jumping through hoops, I have an announcement:

:banana::banana::banana:party: We're going to Japan! party::banana::banana::banana:

I'm so tired from this crazy week that it hasn't sunk in yet.... that and I don't even want to start thinking about getting ready for THAT planning. :surfweb:

Still, I'm glad to have the answer and start moving forward and can't wait to while away my time on the TKD and HKD threads!!!... not to mention Shanghai Disney next year!!!

We are going to make it 'Facebook official' Sunday with a picture of the fam at the Japanese pavillion in EPCOT and a sign saying "Live from Japan 2015"... I'm thinking of telling DD7 it's official that way, too!

Off to do last minute things and then we're outta here!!!

See, that's my problem, there are so many cute options. If I had the budget, my friend and I would have matching t-shirts every day of our trip. If you need the information to find their shops on Etsy, just let me know.

CONGRATS!!!!:banana::banana:

Funny story...as soon as I read the "We're going to Japan!" part I didn't realize it, but I said "WOO HOO!!" outloud. Just as I said that, my oldest walking through my bedroom door (he had just got off the bus from school). He said "woo hoo what?". Not thinking I said "We're moving to Japan", ehich really confused him. I quickly corrected myself and said that a Disney friend is moving to Japan. I think that confirms that I need a nap.

Yay for tentative plans:cool1:

Somebody needs to add me to page one please. Poly CL 11/18-21!!

I have only a few days to plan out my FP+s. Bookable on Thursday. Mom says she will trust me so I am doing rope drop stand by and FP for after appetizers. 5-6,6-7,7-8 kind of thing. That works pretty good with CL and you're back in time for desserts :thumbsup2!

Also Blueskies will be there so I am finally getting a dis -meet too:yay:

Happy weekend. Stood in the rain 3 hours to watch XC. Ds took 2.5 minutes off his time vs last year(that is really good).:woohoo:

WOO HOO!! I can't wait to hear about it.

Nothing new about the trip here, but it is 75 days until I take my flight to Atlanta and 77 days until we check into SoG.

I finished the hats. I just need to remake my pom-pom for the top of mine and add fringe to my friend's scarf. I have gotten pretty far on my current scarf. I am using a Doctor Who scarf pattern, but using left over yarn from my MH scarf. This is what it looks like so far...

Hello!! We got back today from WDW! In short we had a great time. Some ups and downs but I will do a more thorough breakdown tomorrow. Loved Pop and POFQ! Time to get life back together. :)

Hello all from the monorail!
En route to CR for a swim before MNSSHP

So far lots of pixie dust and magic timing. DD1 has had some amazing character moments and I am so glad we bought MM.

Will update tomorrow on our `down` day!

*hugs to all*

:grouphug: DD1 must be smiling ear to ear!

Oh I wish I could see that Halloween parade! Someday!

We are back! DD has successfully had her first visit to WDW! For the most part, everything was magical, but we had a few moments that were not.:headache: I'm going to break this down, and if you have any questions just ask! I will do my best to answer them. :thumbsup2

Resorts: We chose to do a split stay at Pop and POFQ. The first night (any only) was at Pop. It was a fun and lively resort. We swam in the hippy dippy pool with hundreds of others and here comes my first complaint -- Parents, watch your children! It is NOT the job of a lifeguard. Yes, there are many of them, but their job is the make sure everyone (including adults) are safe! It was pure chaos. That definitely took away from the resort for us. The rooms were clean (but small) so I'm not sure we'll stay here again. I cannot really comment on the bus service, as it was fine the one time we did it.

POFQ -- In one word. Awesome! From the time we checked in on Tuesday afternoon to the time we checked out yesterday morning, I really have no complaints. All the CM's were extremely helpful and kind. The mousekeepers did an excellent job keeping the rooms clean and nothing was messed with. The bus service was mostly very good, except for one instance that was taken care of right away. We were in room 7112, which was a standard view, but we can happily say it was so quiet! I would definitely request building 7 again. :) It was about a 5 minute walk to the food court and pool. Speaking of the pool, it was great! No issues.

Transportation: No issues with the buses and the one trip we took on the boat to DTD. For anyone that is curious we got from our plane to resort (Pop) in 75 minutes. That included a pit stop and coffee stop for DH. No problems returning to the airport either.

Magic Bands: I will be honest and say I was nervous using these. I'm usually the type of person to have problems with technology and I can happily report we had none! :yay: They were great! So convenient too!

Dining Plan: You either love it or hate it. For us it was meh. I really wish that you could either choose an app or dessert. Sometimes we are so full that we didn't really want the dessert. I think for next time around we'll stick to the QS plan and pay OOP for table service meals.

Here is my biggest complaint:
The behavior and attitude of other guests was absolutely appalling. DH had found us a nice spot to view Illuminations. It happened to be near Italy and close to the handicap viewing area. As DH and I were enjoying our Ice Cream from France (one word: YUM! :goodvibes) this woman was pushing her daughter and she came around the corner so fast that she ran over my toe and tore the toenail off. Not one time did she apologize or acknowledge what happened. I was in dire pain. :headache::headache::headache: I was so angry! Luckily there was a CM nearby who we spoke to, but I'm not sure if she spoke to the woman or not. This was day 2 of our trip. The pain of the pinky toe did put a damper on things and changed our touring plans.

The other situation happened in MK on 9/13. We arrived about 5:15pm for our dinner ADR at BoG and to stay for the fireworks and parade. As we finished dinner and went to scope out a spot for the parade this woman (I would guess she was either Spanish or Hispanic) told us she had paid extra for her family to have "prime" seats. What?!?!?! I said, no it's first come first serve. There are plenty of spots if she would like to sit here too. She had none of it. She started "screaming" and ran off. We were definitely :sad2::rolleyes: Ten minutes later she came back with a CM and he told her too bad!

These both were just many of the things we encountered while we were there. I would just like to remind everyone to slow down, take a deep breath and just enjoy being the parks. Being unkind will not get you a better vacation.

Anyway, that's pretty much it. We can't wait to return next year! :goodvibes

I have to say I agree with you. There have been 2 types of families, 1 that watches their kids and the other that clearly does not:eek:

Disney guests are either delightful people happy to be there and enjoy themselves and are courteous. They other types are ignorant or rude or BOTH:(

I have only stayed at I POFQ 2 times but I found the CM's there truly friendly and helpful. :thumbsup2

No way I'll ever do dining plans. I just don't eat that much!

I just ordered my 11th MB's but have it shipped to my mom's address. I think she will get a kick out of getting some Mickey mail!:)

What did your family like the best? A ride, swimming, ???? Love to hear about memories being made,

It wasn't so much the room size that bothered us at the Pop, but the bathroom size. We haven't stayed at the POFQ, but I would love to. It seems like you can't go any where these days, where there are large groups of people, where parents just ignore their kids and let them run around and behave how ever they want as long as they don't have to be bothered to actually parent them.

Transportation: No issues with the buses and the one trip we took on the boat to DTD. For anyone that is curious we got from our plane to resort (Pop) in 75 minutes. That included a pit stop and coffee stop for DH. No problems returning to the airport either.

When we stayed at the Pop, we didn't have problems getting buses to the parks, but we hated the busing back. It seems like the Pop Century bus stop was always the furthest, which by the end of the trip we started calling the Pop Century Bus Stop Death March. The queue for the Pop bus always seems to have 2 to 3 times as many people as any other stop and got about 1/2 as many buses stop at it. One night coming home from the MK, we were finally the first people to get on the next bus and we had to wait almost an hour between the bus the CM said was to full for us to get on and the bus we ended up on.

Magic Bands: I will be honest and say I was nervous using these. I'm usually the type of person to have problems with technology and I can happily report we had none! :yay: They were great! So convenient too!

We loved them!! The boys insisted on taking turns using their bands when we ate, to use our dining credits.

Dining Plan: You either love it or hate it. For us it was meh. I really wish that you could either choose an app or dessert. Sometimes we are so full that we didn't really want the dessert. I think for next time around we'll stick to the QS plan and pay OOP for table service meals.

We just love the convenience of having all meals paid for before we go. We tried the Dlx DDP, and the basic. Unless we're going on a longer trip, where we can relax, I wouldn't do the Dlx DDP again. The basic is perfect for our family and our short, less than a week, trips.

I'm so sorry. We had an encounter with a very rude British family, especially the mother, on our June 2012 trip. It put me in such a foul mood while we waited for our Liberty Tree Tavern ADR and while we were eating. Finally, my DH reminded me we were at WDW and it pulled me out of my funk.

For us, the best moments were the small things. DD loved the splash zone areas in AK and Epcot! She would have been totally content if we did nothing else! Another great moment was when we were waiting for our delicious caramel popcorn in Germany and because it was taking a bit longer than expected we all got free chocolate dipped marshmallows. We swam every afternoon which was always great. It's an essential part of our vacation.

We got to the bus stop early because Epcot was having morning EMH and most folks were not up yet. We accomplished future world in about 3 hours! And the dining plan was nice in the sense that the meals were essentially paid for. Like you said though, it's a ton of food! And the toe thing is just :sad2: -- some people are just unbelievable.
