Anyone else have Geico? Don't they thrive on customer service?

My accident was nearly 4 weeks ago. I'm still suffering with a torn ligament in my knee and my sprained foot. Have to start physical therapy this week.

Everyone is saying we should have heard from Geico by now and really should have been cut a check by now. Well my husband called and left a message for the person who is in charge of our case every other day last week and he's left 2 today. We haven't heard a word back.

I'm starting to get very frustrated, although I still can't drive, i'm starting to feel very cornered. I want to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I didn't ask for this accident, the lady just blew out in front of me.

I'm going to be going through a number of weeks of therepy, i'd like to know that eventually I'll be able to drive myself there. My grandfather has been picking up my girls every day at school, I am missing out on sign ups and other occasions at the school. I have to wait until the weekend to do anything like go to the post office, grocery shop, go to the bank or the mall for something I need. I am stuck at home all week long with no choices for something I couldn't avoid and i'm tired of it.

I've told dh that it's time to go above this woman who is supposed to be in charge of our case. I mean, don't all the Geico commercials thrive on their customer service? Well I think it stinks!!!

I still have no idea what we are going to get out of Geico, it could be next to nothing and we still owe $2400 on our van that is totalled and undrivable. But I need a new car too!

Still not sure about our personal injury lawyer. He's friends with my grandfather who has been keeping him informed of my injuries and doctor appointments. When I told him it was confirmed that I had torn a ligment in my knee he was talking about surgery and we'll get good money. Well they aren't doing surgery, there is no need. I am not athletic and physical therepy will fix me up just fine. So he's making it seem like although I am hurt, i'm not hurt enough to sue anyone? Even though Avis rented these people the car without insurance and the woman driving it didn't even have a license?

Thanks for letting me vent, it's been almost 4 weeks... i've had ENOUGH!

I have Geico, but fortunately haven't had to file a claim.

A few months ago, my sister got hit by someone who was insured through Geico. From what I understand, Geico took an unnecessarily long time cutting the check for the repairs needed on my sister's car. I can't remember exactly how long it took, but she did have issues with them. :sad2:

I would go to the suprevisor level.

We were hit by a woman on a weekend, she had Geico, and I had a check for the full amount of the repairs by Thurs of the next week. I took the car to their estimator place, she looked it over and we were done.

Good luck, you don't need this on top of your physical recovery.

If you have a lawyer, that may be why you haven't heard from them. They may only talk to your lawyer, especially if you have already told them you've hired one.

We have Geico and also thought they were "big" on customer service. My dh was in a minor accident a couple of years ago where a woman made a left turn in front of my dh and he hit her. I was a senior claim rep for State Farm for several years and knew that the woman was the majority at fault because she was making the left and had to yield to my dh who was going through an intersection w/a green light...

Long story short, Geico, our insurance co, treated us like dirt - like my dh was completely at fault. Our phone calls to the claim rep never were returned, they were rude, it was appaulling - I've never in my life thought they would have treated my dh like that. They basically dismissed my dh's version - I had to go to a supervisor who was useless also - I would have and should have filed an NYS insurance dept complaint about them but I had just had my dd2 and just didn't do it.

Speak w/someone as high up as possible and don't take no for an answer!

It took over 2 years for us to get anything from Geico-totalled our van, spend time off work, in the hospital, etc. We paid for it all.

I personally would like to run over that Gecko. :thumbsup2

We don't officially "have" a laywer yet. Geico would have no idea we are even talking to one.

That's exactly what happened to me Kimisabella, the lady turned left right in front of me when I was going straight. The accident report is totally correct & the lady has already been cited with illegal turn & failure to yield. Also cited for not having a license.

I thought Geico was known for their low rates, not their customer service. :confused3

I would be going over the claims adjusters head NOW.

I have to be honest, when I lived in Nashville I paid more then then I had to for insurance, but.... my car was totaled on a Monday. Woman who hit me had no insurance. We settled on Wed and I bought a new car on Friday. I will PAY for service like that.

Ooooh. That is soo lousy. I am sorry you are going through this in addition to having to deal with your physical recovery.

I don't buy the whole we are cheap and give good customer service concept. If I don't have a specific agent with a name and face, I am not willing to even give it a chance.

If the woman was at fault then they are responsible and yes you should go over the claims adjuster's head at this point, unless you have already retained the services of that attorney. Then he should be earning his fee and shaking things up for you. The property damage part of the claim could be settled separately(car) and go to therapy, do not sign any kind of release regarding your injuries until you are released from the doctor and feel fine. Whether or not you are an athelete has nothing to do with it. You are a mom, much more important job, kids to run after, toys to pick up, house to clean, yard to take care of, steps to climb at home or at school, games to play, grandchildren to chase one day. Good luck.

A lady insured with GEICO hit my wifes then 6 week old parked Cadillac two years ago. The GEICO adjuster wanted to fix the grill and bumper. I explained he was full of it and that I had worked as an adjuster for 7 years and there was no way a repair was going to hold and knew he was just following GEICO policy of lowballing me. He then okayed the new bumper.

I've been insured with Geico for about 30 years, since I started driving. (Geesh, I'm getting old.) Never had a problem with claims or anything.

Daughter's boyfriend was hit by someone insured by Geico (other driver's fault - pulled out from a gas station in front of boyfriend on a state highway). It was a nightmare for boyfriend to deal with. Same story as everyone else has - left messages, no call back. When he did get a real person, they were useless. It took an extremely long time to get it settled (several months, maybe?).

My friends son had problems with Gieco too.. Someone veered over into his lane and hit him head-on.. His car was totaled and he had some fairly significant injuries.. It took MONTHS before his car was paid for and the hospital bills are still in limbo..

My DD was in an accident 2 weeks ago and the other womans insurer (Allstate) is putting her and her DH through the tortures of you-know-what.. DD saw a specialist yesterday and she's going to be out of work for at least 2 months - possibly longer if surgery is required..

I hate insurance companies.. Can't understand for the life of me why we have to pay premiums and then fight like heck for the insurance that they are supposed to provide..

I've had Geico for over 10 years and I have never had a problem with them. We have had 2 claims with them and both were handled very well. State Farm on the other hand I woudn't take if they paid me to have their insurance :sad2:

It sounds a little more complicated with a Rent-A-Car being involved and the "at-fault" driver not being insured (or licensed). I put "at-fault" in quotations since we know Florida is a no fault state. I think I would consult a personal injury attorney (and maybe not the family friend if you don't feel comfortable with him). The consultation would be free.
