ANOTHER Adventure in Autism (4/15) A Taste of What's to Come...

Great Installment! Great to have you back! :cool1: :thumbsup2

AND... We had a similar to your DVD experience in DTD our first night. There is just no "put the toy back we'll buy it later" on the Autism Spectrum!

::yes:: :upsidedow

WOOHOOOO!!! Kathy comes out of hiding and gives an update!! Thanks for making my day!

Happy Birthday Jordan!

YAY!!! I am so happy to see an update from you. Bill and I have missed you :grouphug:. I wouldn't take him to work today until we read your installment :rotfl:.

It looks like you got a lot done that day even with AR slowing down and Ed being on the phone. Billy knows what he wants and when he wants it, that darn "coming soon to DVD" should be outlawed.

I can't wait to hear about your WCC experience.

We've never done the dinosaur ride, is it worth doing or just good for a nap? :rotfl:

I love the photo of your kids holding hands so cute and why do they have to advertise stuff so much, no kid totally understands coming soon :headache:

We did the Universe of Energy for the 1st time in ages last year. Jimmy loved it. Mommy got a good nap ;) , but was almost caught afterwards when Jimmy asked me what my favorite Dinosaur was:rotfl:

Hi there! Wow, what an adventure! Believe it or not, I've just finished reading all 82 pages in one day. :faint:

You're such a good story-teller. I totally feel like I was right there with you. I don't know how many times I've told AR to just get in the dang w/c. That she'd feel much better once she did. But so far she hasn't listened to me. :confused3

I told Trish that I admired her ability to peruse the shops to get an idea of what's out there, because at her age I'd have already been broke and trying to hit Mom up for a loan.

I told Ed to get off the phone I don't know how many times. Hello?! It's vacation time here. I mean really, the boys back home couldn't handle it? They just had to call him?

I was glad that Billy was taking it all in and doing so well. You must have been so proud. I don't have anyone in my immediate family with autism, but you and the other parents have given me a glimpse of what it's like, and you all are to be commended; I honestly don't think I would be able to cope half as well as you all do.

And last but not least "WOO HOO!" about your April trip! I was bummed out when your camping trip was bumped, very dissapointed when your marathon was scrapped, and felt horrible when your Dsis couldn't come up with the $$$. :sad1: But then you said you were getting your Spring Fling, and I was all happy again! :yay:

So any who, great report and keep it coming! But until then, I guess I'll have to go read your other report!

thanks for the update! I agree w/ others looks like you had a good day after all. Looking forward to reading how it ends.

So hey on the UoE, is it really dark the whole time? We're debating going on it. Probably base it on time. But DS (N) is not really fond of the dark for long, but really enjoys Dinosaurs. What do ya think? I value your opinion.

Lastly, another "coming soon to...." issue, how about those older VHS or DVD w/ the coming soon.... of course my kids want to watch that stuff. And how do you explain that it's not available anynore? "but it says coming soon! Mom:confused3 ;)

Kathy,
Glad all is well and you are back.

Kind of glad you have been away, I only have two pages to catch up on :rolleyes1

Ellen's Energy Adventure.=GUD

“Oh darn,” Ed said sarcastically. (I think his Advil had worn off.) It’s not that he doesn’t like my sister and brother-in-law, I think he just doesn’t like the idea of trying to “do” Disney in a large group.

:thumbsup2 I'm with Ed

Afterwards, we drifted slowly over to the pin-trading kiosk so Tricia could look at the pins and perhaps score a trade.

That a girl Tricia:yay:

Sorry, Goofster and YodaK, I didn’t take pix of the pins. Hopefully I’ll get to it soon!

DOH

Next Up: They don’t really whisper in the Whispering Canyon, do they?

Good Luck with the whispering

Jordan!

Oh nooo...I'm like 80 pages behind on your report!!!!
Kathy

Been there done that

I'm with Ed also. Disney is best done with my immediate family and nobody else.

So here's the kicker: During our next trip to WDW in October, my dad is taking all of my brothers, sisters, and all his grandkids. 20 of us total. PLUS! My Regional Manager's family will be down the entire time I am PLUS I've got a DIS meet. :scared:

Could be interesting. :scratchin

*Just a brief editorial comment here, simply because I find it just too incredible not to make a note of it: Ed has actually been requesting that I get back to trip report-writing! Every time he observes me sitting at the dining room table, pouring over the blueprints for our “new” home and hears, “You know, sweetheart, while we’re at it, we might as well… _______ (fill in the blank)”, he sees dollar signs floating in front of his eyes and breaks out into a cold sweat. :faint: Those annual trips to the World suddenly don’t seem so expensive now! :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Whatever the reason...I'm glad you're back! :goodvibes

We had lunched at the Garden Grill with Farmer Mickey and Friends – not bad, but not incredibly great, either.

hmmm.....the characters are fun......the food

I couldn't imagine doing disney in a large group :3dglasses

“I’ll get it for you, Billy!” said Aunt Rae-The-Queen-of-Spoiling. “I’m not sure if it’s out yet….” I trailed off as Billy led us all into the mega-store.

Aunt Rae is so sweet :goodvibes

Too bad it wasn't there :(

:lmao: NOPE!

Did Billy enjoy it?

Whew! I have finally caught up with both of your trip reports. These is lots of good information in your reports for anybody planning a trip to Disney.

I look forward to more of your report!

I just wanted to drop by and say Hi, I hope everything is going great for you all :grouphug:.

**April Trip Update**

Sorry, I've been terribly neglectful toward my poor report...I will work on the next installment this weekend!

Just a quicky update about our upcoming trip in... oh my goodness... is it only about six weeks from now??? Yikes, time flies!!

First: Our waitlist came through for Old Key West, so we will be bedding down there instead of our home resort of Saratoga Springs. I'm a little sad that we won't get to see SSR all finished and done up real pretty... the last time we stayed there it was still undergoing a lot of construction. It was so nice to just have the ability to stroll over to Downtown Disney Marketplace in the evenings.

I'm relieved, though, that we will have a bit of extra room at OKW. The studios there are a bit larger than at the other DVC resorts and the second bed is a queen, rather than a pull-out sofa, so I think the kids will be much more comfortable sharing that. (I am so spoiled though... no washer/dryer in the studios!!) Ah well, I will try to survive!! :rolleyes1

Second:

(Hold onto your hats, now!)

We're driving down this time!!

:faint: :faint: :scared::scared: :scared1: :scared1: :eek: :eek:

Yes, you read that right! We're driving, Heaven help me!!

Reason is, I dragged my heels purchasing airline tickets and then had to wait for our tax rebate in order to afford them, etc., etc., and now they are going for a minimum of $550, with stopovers, even! Too rich for my blood!

I even made the supreme sacrifice and suggested to Ed that we (gasp!) c-a-n-c-e-l our trip, but we would lose our DVC points which we had borrowed from our '08 use year--sorry non-DVC members, it's complicated-- plus, we had purchased annual passes back in November, so we didn't want to waste them, either.

So, long story short (yeah right, as if!) we will be gassing up the Mommy-Van and hittin' good old I-95.

Oh, my tush is hurting me just at the thought of it!!!

Well, that's the scoop. I will try to get in another installment of this report this weekend and to respond to all who have posted comments. You are all very sweet to have stuck with me so long.

Bye for now,

Kathy

Yay for OKW! And I think driving will be an adventure (at least you don't need to worry about sitting together in the van, right?)

Driving? Well...it's still a trip to WDW....:thumbsup2

OKW...I want a full report on the studio...and what you thought of OKW in general....It's a possibility now because of the size of the rooms.....

I'd love to drive there one year, but I think hubby would choke on his own bile. Hey, California to Florida can't be THAT bad, right?? ;)
