I can sort of see having the policy - what I don't get is why they wouldn't release kids to their PARENTS. The school doesn't have the right to keep kids from their legal guardians do they? Once they release the kid to their parents, the school isn't responsible for their safety anymore and the parents can decide if it is safe enough to take their child home. You would think that this would be easier on the school - yes, having to have each parent sign out their kid is a pain, but it has to be less of a pain than having ALL the kids held their for hours! It would still annoy people, but it wouldn't make the evening news.

Pamela (pdarrah)

I would have been calling 911 to force the release of my child to me if I was told by the school I could not pick up my kid. Some kids need food and medication and they (the school) placed these kids at risk by this policy. Once the parent signed the child out they are their responsibilty not the schools. So glad my kids are grown and I don't have to deal with all this STUFF. Lois

I hope those meeting today in WDW at the mini-meet have as great a time as we had back in April, can't wait to see some pics!!!.........:goodvibes

The other night when I went to pick Angelina up from work, she said to me during the drive home, "Dad, I hope we don't like our Royal Caribbean cruise too much, or we might not want to go back to DCL." I said to her, "Don't worry about that, we WOULD be sailing with DCL again in the future!" To which I saw, a very big :) on her face.

Maybe this trip is really going to be like the tables in Atlantic City (where the tabes started out rough).

See email I just got:

My flight was to JAX to save $$$ on the flight and rent a car...

But their next flight to JAX wont get in to JAX until midnight.

But it seems like they will send me into MCO instead (granted I now have to pay $80 more for a rent-a-car there... I wonder if access america would cover the $80... its no biggie... just use some of the AC winnings right)

Hey what time is the Wilderness Lodge meet today? Maybe I can make it since I am flying into MCO...

Actually, he has a medical condition nd needs to take meds 3x a day. Usually takes the afternoon at around 3:30. She was going to call the Sherrifs office but when her friend who was in line for hours told her a dad was taken away in cuff just for that very reason, she didn't want to make a scene. It is his first week in Middle school and she didn't want to put any labels on the kid.Funny thing is she had scehuled a meeting with all his teachers and the school nurse(yes they have one but the parents are coerced into paying $15.00 a kid for it, as the county does not provide one) for next week. Who knew about this ruling. It must be new as only 2 schools were locked down and not the one her younger ones go to.. They were able to get to the buses as usual and they do have portables as well. The issue was to get all the kids under the main roof and since we have schools here that are mostly spread out with portables, this is the reason

Happy News!!!
Took my oldest son (currently 19) to NYC for his 6 month check-up on Thursday. Everything went well, but now we have the official news: his PET and CT were clean. That means five years clean: He's now considered cured!!!

Of course, he said he was cured once they stopped treatments, but I'm one happy momma!

If anyone needs any info please pm me before 12:30.

Thanks for the info...

Seems like a am now offically booked on the 5:00 which wont get me in until 8:00.

I was trying for the 4:15, but I saw it was delayed until 5:55!:scared1:

So the 5:00 it is!

So I doubt we will make it to the meet since we are staying at the Hilton in Cocoa Beach and want the kinds to get a decent night of sleep for out "Prelude to a TOAL:...

Veranda - Sounds like great news! Congrats!

At 5 a.m.

You are too funny Roger!
Canal day will be hot. I think I'll be tasting daiquiris.

This is the first time in m life that I have had a car as nice as the one I drove in high school!

Roger "got" me for a second....I have gullible stamped on my forehead. :headache:

I'm still waiting for the car as nice as the one I drove in high school, and I'm (just a TAD bit) older than you!! :sad1:

It's been downhill ever since then....Corvette, Camaro, Cavalier Station Wagon (after birth of Kid #1), Chevy Astro Van (kid #2), Suburban (kid #3), Yukon XL, and then my two spares that were given to Kid #1 and Kid #2...the Blazer and the Equinox. The way I see it, Kid #3 will get the YukonXL, and then I'll finally get to have a sports car again.
