I had an e-mail from Todd. They're managing to get by without the Mickey Bars.
They left Tenerife and he said they had some beautiful (topless) beaches there. The ship had a "Say Goodbye to the Med" party that he said was fun.
He said the new band...High Frequency...is much better than Entwine, in fact, they were "really good".
They started the Mystery game...which sounds like fun.
Says the crew is happy to be headed back home!

Here are a few pics of the tornado that came thru on Thursday. This was less than six blocks away. Took mostly video clips but haven't figured out how to post those yet.

The 4th picture is a trampolene up in tree about 30 feet from where it should have been. It was heavily anchored into the ground.
The last picture the house has a 20 foot hole in the roof, it's covered with a tarp now.

Maybe this trip is really going to be like the tables in Atlantic City (where the tabes started out rough).

See email I just got:

Dear Silvestro,

Due to severe weather in the Northeast Region, we are unable to complete your travel as scheduled. Your flight #615 on August 25, 2007 for travel from New York's JFK has been cancelled.

You may rebook your itinerary without a fee by visiting the Weather Advisory section of our website. If you do not want to rebook, you may instead receive a full refund* or travel credit on JetBlue which is good for one year.

We thank you for your understanding and look forward to welcoming you onboard soon.

Sincerely,
JetBlue Airways

My flight was to JAX to save $$$ on the flight and rent a car...

But their next flight to JAX wont get in to JAX until midnight.

But it seems like they will send me into MCO instead (granted I now have to pay $80 more for a rent-a-car there... I wonder if access america would cover the $80... its no biggie... just use some of the AC winnings right)

Hey what time is the Wilderness Lodge meet today? Maybe I can make it since I am flying into MCO.
..

Wow...

I checked and there seems to be no cyclone data in the Mariners' 1-2-3 rule forecast. Initially when I read your postings I was thinking... "oh-no" .. Sil might have his voyage threatened by a hurricane or similar. Alas the weather looks clear of serious developements as of this morning.

I had to change my flight 7x in 3 days (6x in 24 hours) due to hurricane Francis AND our obcessive determination in making the revised embarkation. We only made it as far as Charlotte by plane - so we drove to Jacksonville in hopes of makingthe embarkation the next morning. However, the embark was moved to the NEXT day in the morning. AND it was moved to Fort Lauderdale! Disney was pretty nice about it though. They gave us a free nite at the Polynesian and spiffed transfers from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale (and back from Port Canaveral to MCO).

Anyways... Sil's got no "H" threats - so thats' cause for happy nods and thumbs up!

Now Cheryl...

... heres' something we don't see very often in Southern California. Once in a while a tree falls over of old age around here - but tornado activity is fairly rare! I know his was a few blocks from ya - and as such I hope the collateral effects at your home were not nearly as severe.

Hey look... flying pencils and books - just the thing for "back to School"!

Cheryl, I have to admit I don't miss that at all. The one we lived through in Nebraska in 1975 was enough for me.

Take care back there!!

I hope everyone had a great chat last night. Sorry I missed it.

As I mentioned last week to Pbader and Crash (I think they were the only ones left when I joined the chat), that I would miss this week's chat due to my going to Atlantic City for my annual fantasy football draft.

Well, the draft went great. Then went to the tables and was getting thoroughly drubbed. Was down to my last $75 or so.. Decided to bet it all in one hand of blackjack... it looked like I was going to lose so I stood up (getting ready to leave the table).. but the hand won! I decided to stay standing (try anything for goodluck) and then I went on a great tear on that table - an in about 45 mins was up over $2000! Left the table at the first sign of trouble and pocketed $1600 (nuff to pay for half of the "Prelude to a TOAL".... which is tomorrow!!!).

If the rest of my vacation goes as well as yesterday I will be set.

So I am signing off until after Labor Day!

Happy wishes to all!

Sil what a GREAT way to start off your vacation! Sounds like lady luck was with you last night. Glad your draft went well too! Have a wonderful vacation:goodvibes

Happy News!!!
Took my oldest son (currently 19) to NYC for his 6 month check-up on Thursday. Everything went well, but now we have the official news: his PET and CT were clean. That means five years clean: He's now considered cured!!!

Of course, he said he was cured once they stopped treatments, but I'm one happy momma!

What wonderful news:goodvibes

arlene:

Veranda - Sounds like great news! Congrats!

Sil, sorry for the aggravation, but MCO will save you some driving time:) (And yeah, those winnings will definetly cover that $80!)

Ok we're off. Still nice sky :thumbsup2
If I get any good pics, I will have to send them to someone as I am still challenged. :lmao:
Arlene I can't wait to see some pics! I know you all will have a great time!:goodvibes

Cheryl, so happy that you all didn't have damage--tornados are scary and unpredictable. Hopefully your weather calms down. But it is nice that you know have a green lawn again:)

Wow I have a lot to ketchup on!!!:thumbsup2 We had really bad storms here yesterday. I heard tornado siren go off twice and was hiding in bathroom. Tonight we just found out that a tornado hit about 7 blockks from my house yesterday. Only a small funnel dropped down and tore a path about 6 blocks long. No one was hurt but you could tell the path. I will post a few picures tomorrow. I was helping DD with flooded basement today. I did not realize damage until tonight when I got back home. We have had 9 inches of rain in the past 6 days. My grass is no longer brown but a lush green that is growing as I type!!!
I hope everyone is dry and safe.

I'm so glad you are all safe and sound!! Our area went through this same thing all Spring and the first part of Summer long... We were so blessed that nothing bad happened to our home (we don't have basements here).

More bad news about our *hopeful* WDW trip.... Jon has meetings every day from this past week through the next 2 weeks.....concerning the England deal and the new building (a few 100,000 sq ft) that he is in charge of making sure the remodeling is done right and on time -- he is in the process of interviewing comercial contracters and comercial interior designers. :sad2: We could never have quessed a few weeks ago that he was going to be doing ALL of this!! This is how he is feeling about it all :headache:

Yesterday he came home for lunch (his office is about 7mins away) and spent a few moments looking at the DCL site before going back to work..... And he is working today....next Saturday.....:sad1:

Does anyone collect charms for the old-fashioned kind of charm bracelet?

I have one and I try to get a charm in every port we're at. (I'm betting Cartagena might be tough) but anyway......the last time the Magic did the Mexican Riviera they saved me a ton of trouble...they had charms that had DCL on one side, and each port on the other.

Just a little tid bit for collectors.

:wizard: .."hello from "C~town"!!! pixiedust: ..i wish i could've
said disney world..but sadly, that would have been fibbing......

:flower3: ..PBader...how's your son? [ ours have given us a few more
grey hairs....eps., the "girl ~ crazy one!]

...are you wisc. badger fan?...my neighbor [hugh wolverine fan], believes
they will win the big 10?

..yes, i'm dragging way...behind...[ well the views aren't too bad- ]

in no order....ahhhh, pdarrh, your lil'boy pirate: pic..caught my eye.

i remember those "golden" days....when we use to "rob" my mother's
jewelry box...if we were lucky ..she didn't noitced for a few days..
:rolleyes1 ..if not..& if one caught her heading to the "switicher-bush",
one started crying...funny thing is, it never "got us out of it". we
were a family of mostly..boys..so fighting was recreational...dear old
"mom" was home base..say you sneaked attacked..an older ~ pesty
sibling...it was very imprtant to have calculated the distance
between the 2. * the biggest problem ...( memory served me right)
was when you turned the "corner"...and dear lil'mom..had moved.
:scared1: . it was a real treat....when mom made a cake...every-
thing counted...the spoon, mixer, even the bowls..nothing went
to waste....she used to make homemade syrup used on new fallen
snow...[ i saved the yellow stuff for the older boys) & fudge.
..toy?..we used to used old shoes into race cars...army men were
made out of matches...blankets were "battle field"...& nothing
compares...like building forts and tree house....we used to placed
an old mattress at the bottom...and bounced! then there was
the yeraly "wars"...the fort was under a pear/apple trees....with
the treehous up above...they had garbage lids as shields...& gravity-
for any apples they could knocked inside. you be surprise how much
fun ..a mud hole could be....:teacher: . the lil~ol'rascals..were our
role models..for real!...we even had "derby" races...anything with
wheels...but of all the trumatic events..i duly remember, its has
to be the one with the copper head..that got all taggle up..on
the end of my po-go stick! [i should'n left it against the chicken
coop] .

...what a :cool2: pic.! ( maybe every day things are boring but
they sure fun to remember....it was a very comforting ..in this mean
old world...i can remember hugging my mom legs, hiding under
her dress..with my older brother just a carrying on...was it my fault,
he got in the way when i was watering the flowers..with the hose?)

We (me and all of my dds) have the old fashioned type of charm bracelets. I really wanted to get some charms on the 10nt Southern but, I was not successful. :sad2:
I went to the big jewerly chain (in the Carribean) and when I asked about charms I was told they didn't have any. But, I found out later other people bought charms there! UGH!!!!!

I did get mine from the 11 Night, but I don't remember now which stores. I remember one of them...probably St Kitts since the port area was new...being tough.

For this one, I'm going to need Acapulco (my first time there), Cartagena (or at least Colombia), and Aruba. Aruba will be easy. Sometimes the Mexican ports are hard. They have tons of silver stores, but not so many charms. :sad2:

:hippie: ..ok, whose in this bunch been "fluffing things up...
again?"

..will wanda ever cease? ..so steph5, ~ your fessing, 26 y/o & not
15..you could " fooled me"..& i have a keen eye! :coffee:

..special thanks..to the f. god'mother....offering some really great

 ..for flying colors...soooo brief!

..just m?...maybe that was your room?!...& showing off....to the
swabbies.....what lies underneath...commando styling. :thumbsup2

something that could be repeated by the wenches....hey, cpt. crash...
think of the "fortunes" could be made....in trading cards?...we could
make a whole sewries of bikini flags..& matching naked pirates of the
panama canal...y-tou think micmse? pamama red and the new riders of
the purple saga are off "horsing around"?

..so this is where all the fluff..being used up?

right.........i am going to mentioned bunny boy...real name...for the
whole cruise ..to know? ha!..i'll let cpt. crash have that "glory".
:rolleyes1

..on another site..someone asked about worst disney movies....
someone mentioned lilo'& stitch? , iam surprised...that lil'story
had alot meanings for adopted children, well, that's what i thought.

then "no tippers"..debate....that was very :sad2: . its not to say,
everyone is prefect but it is an obligation- understood , people
working for nothing...* when we have had a problem,..we used a
corrective measure approach..to resolve..not to get out of tipping..
we sorta tip..based on who is working the most...& we start @
the recomended amt..

Attention! Cruise related!!

Is anyone going to be staying near the port, but not have rooms yet?

My TA is trying to get me a group discount at the Doubletree San Pedro, and it will be time to book in about 2 weeks. Let me know....PM might be best....if you're interested.

Emeralds of course are native to Columbia there are good deals but be careful of faults in the stone. IE Know your stuff n advance.

Thanks for offer, I am staying however at Disneyland for four nights pre cruise and will travel over to San Pedro during the day.

Ya kno....

... I bet almost everyone has some kind of inconvenience with the money and job thing... it's different for everyone ... yet also very similar. In your case I'd call it a GOOD complication to be so busy, eh? And besides - from my POV your husbands pursuits sound truly interesting to me. I would love to learn more about commercial real estate developement and the fine details of the deals. Plus there's the added spice of this being an international deal. Frankly - to me it sounds very thought provoking and exciting.

So to some this may seem half empty while to others it seems half full. Roll with it as its' just a couple of weeks. WDW is not expected to be going anywhere anytime soon - so you can afford to put it off a few weeks. The deferment will make your next visit that much more special! In part - that's why we try to space out the Disney cruise thing. If we tried to do more frequent sailings it would reduce the ejoyment (for me at least) ... to say nothing of reducing my mad money on hand <chuckles>.

underdog.gif

Anyways... relax and divert attention to other easy distractions. Underdog just opened in the theaters and we're thinking of trying to catch a showing. My spouse got this $25 movie gift card for buying certain groceries during a promotion. THe card expires in a few days - so its' a case of use it or lose it - and conveniently UnderDOG has arrived!
