$31 rental for a double stroller.

Wouldn't the cost to run more buses- the gas, maintenence, salary, etc. not justify the stroller price increase?

I have found small umbrella double stroller, I believe you can get one for less than $60. so they are small enough to get on and off the busses.

Maybe if everyone boycotts rentals, they will have to lower prices at some point in time.

Are you pushing the stroller on the bus open? When I took my stroller, they made all of us close them, and I put mine under the seat or hung the handles over my arm if the bus was really crowded. Do they let you take them on open?

Of course they don't let you take them on open. Even closed up, though, they take up a lot of room. It will certainly increase congestion in the lines as everyone closes the stroller, and on the bus as people struggle to hang on to the stroller and the child...we had a double stroller last visit and it was a PAIN and we had only just decided that on our next trip we would rent...now I am not so sure!

I bring my own and i dont even need a double BUT i just sent off a e mail also! this is stupid stupid stupid and they HAVE crossed a line on what is ok to make people pay...they do even raise the rooms this much each year....

I'm sure this would work out well for the majority, but I do like to be careful with buying the cheap strollers. Most don't steer well and the frustration of struggling with that all day long is worse than lugging a bigger one on and off the bus twice a day. Once you get two kids in a stroller, it is so much harder to move around. We used to love renting Disneys because of their absolute ease in manuvering.

Then, how do they justify the cost of food increase, the cost of room rates increase, etc? It's kinda like that economics class from school-the cost of fuel for them is kinda like going to a QT as opposed to a BP-they get better deals on it, and tremendous tax breaks- it is the law of supply and demand-we demand the convenience, so we pay the supply price. Plus, unfortunately, we have to pay for convenience in this country, that is why I was saying, if more parents would do a stroller swap, it would mean less money for strollers to be able to pay for the increase that is coming in everything else. That's the bad part about a failing economy-the suppliers know we demand, so they raise the price when we can't afford it to make twice as much.

Again, I know it doesn't help, but I have an umbrella stroller, single, in great shape and I will bring it and give it away to a family who wants it, so long as they promise to do the same thing. Maybe we could all do that and take pics and track it on the site-Where in the World (WDW) is the stroller now? and it would be like a game of find the stroller now? I know a lot of the parents out there have kids that will sleep on their heads, mine slept with their necks twisted so far it looked like they broke off and someone stuck it on sideways, so they wouldn't be uncomfortable in an umbrella stroller.

I am FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I realize Disney can do whatever they want and increase their price whenever they want BUT the cost for stroller rental is RIDICULOUS!! The double stroller rental cost is $31 dollars a day UP from $18 per day Really $13 per day is NECESSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK rant over!!!!

WOW! My DD6yrs has to have a double stroller for her and her portable oxygen machine. This means we will be looking at $270 for stroller rental for our 10 day trip. I am just glad we booked our airfare before AA increased there price.
I tell you I could have bought a nice house for the amount I have given Disney over the years.

The increase is NOT a typo.

I have already called (and they confirmed the increase) and I have E-mailed Disney about this increase.

I mentioned things like:

1. It is cheaper to rent a car for a week than a stroller.
2. Loss revenue for Disney, more people will bring their own
3. Loss revenue becuase guests will leave the park early because they didn't rent and their children can't walk another step.
4. Congestion on the monorail and buses.
5. Renting a stroller is almost as much as a child one-day park admission.

Anyone know what the stoller you can buy for $40 is like?

I know I bought the umbrella stroller for $18 on sale at Babies R Us, just as an in case thing. But, he is so big, he walks everywhere, and we have the McClaren, so I would think that you could go to Babies r us, or even craigslist and find one close by-sometimes closeout stores have them too.

The umbrella was great for us at WDW last year, especially for manuvering on the bus. I know that some people said they are hard to steer but ours wasn't and we ended up just taking the diaper bag and looping it over the handles and using that instead of the expensive one.

Try it our with your kids in it at the store before you buy it.

We're planning on a family trip back to Disney later this summer to introduce our baby grand-daughter to a wonderful experience.

But seeing this thread about the cost of stroller rental is really making me roll my eyes. How on earth can WDW justify this type of expense?

My daughter and her hubby own a Maclaren Techno XLR system (stroller) there is no way they'd be brining it to use at WDW. We were counting on renting a stroller but good grief.. not at these prices.

No idea what we're going to do now...

I haven't seen this posted, but has anyone thought on Disney is going to make sure people are not taking strollers from other people? Can't you just see someone making off with your rented one, to save the money? I can. Or are we supposed to leave someone off of a ride to guard it?

Unfortunately, this happens all the time. Hubby and I sat outside Mexico one evening and watched 3 separate strollers being taken by people who didn't rent them.

Absolutely ridiculous. We will NEVER pay $31 for a double stroller. We have 3children that need strollers...and we will be bringing OUR OWN!!! Even if it's an invconvenience to us - we will never spend that much money for one week on strollers!!!!!

ITA.... this is the same reason I love renting Disney's strollers. I have twins. I have a huge Graco double stroller and a Jeep double stroller. The Graco stroller is very heavy, and it has two canopies that have to be taken off to fold up and one tray that also has to be taken off to fold up. I brought it one year, and it was awful lugging that thing around. It was so hard holding the stroller on the bus, carrying two canopies, holding a stroller tray, carrying a couple bags, plus keeping up with the twins and my other two boys. Plus when it rained it would get soaking wet and not really dry out. I remember all the dirty looks I got on buses. It was just a stressful way to start the day.

My Jeep double stroller cost $80. I have already been through two because they just don't hold up. You are right about how they don't steer well. There is no storage area for bags either.

So renting has just always been easier for all of us.

If I put $14 in an envelope every week until the week we go, which is in November, I will have saved enough to rent a stroller. That is a lot of money, but that is the only way I can think of to be able to still rent a stroller. I will hate doing it, but the convenience of renting is hard to pass up. Especially when I remember how stressful it was taking my own.

Well at this price I can see people renting a single then taking the receipt back up to the counter a little later and getting another single at no charge. (Since you can get another stroller at another park that day or you get another if yours is taken and they don't charge you.)

It is a decent stroller for $40 but has a weight limit of 35 lbs and my 2 yr. old weighs that. WDW sells them in the resorts, at DTD and in the parks. It has a small mesh bag on the back, a small canopy, a 3-point lap belt, reclines a little (very little) and is easy to fold but that weight limit is now a deal breaker for us.

I was just thinking about that. There definitley will be a lot of stroller stealing and deceit. But if we do rent, we will just get 2 singles since it is cheaper that way....makes no sense at all. The moron who came up with this increase needs a dope slap. Nobody will get doubles anymore since the singles are cheaper...duh!

I'm a mom of two who always brought my own stroller but I think I'll be emailing Disney as well.
