Hey, Lori, nice to "see" you over on this thread!

As much awesome stuff as I've heard about the BBQ for the same reason people have been advising Allen to rethink Hoop de Doo on his first night you may want to think long and hard about trying to get to the BBQ.

We loved Garden Grill when we were there, but I'm not sure that it would be quite special enough for a birthday dinner for a little princess! I think I'd go for Akershus again. Did you do breakfast last time?

Amanda, glad you had a great trip and all the best with your son.

I'm loving the cappuccino machine advice!!! Caffeine addict is just a joke.

Re-posting my dining plans from the Restaurant board for your criticism and expert advice!!!!

OK, getting close to my ADR time, and I think I have my plans straight, but I could use some input from the experts!

Day One: Arrive about 1 p.m. We are staying at the BC so I thought a family meal at Biergarten with the extended family that are going as well would be good. We are staying CL so we can have snacks if we get hungry, and the kids will probably be stuck in SAB, so I'm thinking about 8 pm.

Day Two: Epcot Day. I am planning all our park days to start early and end around lunchtime. If we have steam, we will hit another park later, but no biggie. ADR for Tutto Italia at 7:15 pm.

Day Three: Resort Day, possible boys' golf day. Cape May Cafe character breakfast for 9:30 a.m.

Day Four: MK Day. Crystal Palace ADR for 8:15 or 8:30 a.m. Park opens at 9, wanted to get in the park before it opens...

Day Five: Resort Day, maybe after hitting the EMH at DHS if we are up. 'Ohana ADR for 7:00 pm so we can catch the water pageant and wishes from the beah.

Day Six: Universal Day. I'm thinking about making an ADR for Marrakesh for 8:30 pm just so we have an option if we make it back.

Day Seven: Animal Kingdom Day. Boma dinner at 6 p.m.

Day Eight: Resort Day. Via Napoli 7 p.m.

Day Nine: DHS Day. Sci Fi Cafe lunch at 1 p.m. (kids request!)

Day Ten: Resort Day. Fantasmic Package at Brown Derby for 9 p.m. to end our vacation. We've never seen it.

Of course we are so close to everything that we will probably pop into the various parks on our rest/resort days. I also might make a reservation for Saratoga Springs Spa...

Let me know your thoughts! THANKS SO MUCH!

Hi, I've been reading/stalking this thread for about a month and I'm ready to jump in I suppose. Thanks for all of the advice and tips you guys have given!

We are taking DD for her first trip to Disney in December, and are celebrating our 5th anniversary. We went to Disney for our honeymoon in December 2006, so it's only fitting that we return. We also had DD nine months later, so family members like to call her "Minnie" ;). We are staying at the Yacht Club 12/15-12/20, and can't wait to be back at The World!

If you get a warm day (likely) be sure to spend some time with your daughter at the heated Pool - Storm Along Bay. There is a very shallow sandy area with a sand "island" that she will just love! They have little green buckets that are found all over that area from the kids meals at Hurricane Hanna's (the Pool restaurant) so you won't need to bring something like that.... but if you can find some small sand toys that you can slip in her suitcase, that will keep her busy for sure!

If it's too cold for the pool then the lake front has a sandy beach where you can take her to play for a little while.

~ Just an Idea! Have a great trip and keep posting, we are happy to help!

Hi everyone :)

I could really use some help with our ADRs as our 180 days is fast approaching.

Arrival day is also my youngest's 6th birthday. We are supposed to arrive at MCO at 2:00ish. I figure playing it safe, 5:00 by the time we get into our room. I really want to have an awesome dinner for her, and figured if I booked something for say 6:30 we should be ok. I am not against taking a cab if it was away from Epcot, but realize Epcot might be the smartest and easiest option.

My kids are not adventurous eaters by any stretch. She loves Mickey and Minnie and also Belle. I was thinking Akershus for dinner so she can get her picture with Belle, however we did Akershus for breakfast and have a Belle picture from our 2010 trip. So I was also thinking Garden Grill, but I don't always read the best reviews.

The reviews of Chef Mickey's are so poor for dinner that I have ruled it out. I was thinking maybe either Mickey's BBQ or CRT, because we've never done either.

I would love to know what people thought would be the best idea. I am in a struggle and don't know what I should do.

Here is a link to that "other" site (All Ear's!) that has a listing of locations for character meals. http://allears.net/din/cbchar.htm

Good luck and may the fork be with you!

Hey Dee.....Page 200. Tick Tock Tick Tock.....Boom pixiedust: New Thead!

Now don't tease her! You know how she gets! Why she probably has the shakes right now just thinking about it! ::yes::

Hey Dee.....Page 200. Tick Tock Tick Tock.....Boom pixiedust: New Thead!

Thanks for the heads up! I think the moderators close down a thread when it hits 250 pages, so at the rate we are going, we still have a couple of weeks before I pack us all up and move!!!

Feckless.....Love the ADR's and layout. Only thing we would do different is Mama Melrose instead of Brown Derby. (We just love Italiano!) Great meals and times!

Allen....Have to agree with the others. It usually takes longer than we plan for most rides/shows. As long as you play it by ear as you said you will be fine.

DISNEYNUTS..... Welcome. That would definitely be a DEAR HUSBAND.

stenmarks....Welcome. We will get you added to page 1 list. And Happy (early) Anniversary

SydandPaige'sMom Hey Lori......And to add more to the confusion (and opinions) I think CRT would be very special. You are there for the experience and none better for a 6 yr old that a Fairy God Mother and the Princesses!

Thanks, MM...I have to say that reading about your tea troubles was entertaining! I accept your advice knowing that it's from a reputable source ;). We're packing suits and hoping for a warm day to play at the pool...Stormalong bay was one of the draws for us (other than being able to walk to DHS and Epcot!). We realize that our former Commando ways aren't going quite kosher with a 4-year old temperament, so we have a flexible itinerary (booked ADRs but aren't going to go nuts trying to see everything) and anticipate needed that "downtime" at the hotel. We tried to see everything last time, and I honestly don't remember many details because of it!

Look out Beach Club we are coming back!!!

DISNEYNUTS - that's very exciting!

I just booked a long weekend BC club level for my family and haven't told anyone yet (even DH)!

DISNEYNUTS and vicki- if you would like to be added to the Page 1 "Be Our Guest List" let us know your checkin and checkout dates.

We are staying at the Yacht Club 12/15-12/20, and can't wait to be back at The World!

We added you to the list! :cool1:

Thanks I did read about that. Honestly I'm scared to make reservations anywhere in case there are any issues with the plane/our arrival/check in.

We did Akershus last time for breakfast. It was fun, but looking at the dinner menu kind of scares me a little  I mean Belle is her favourite...and I suppose you can never have too many photos with your favourite princess though right?

SydandPaige'sMom Hey Lori......And to add more to the confusion (and opinions) I think CRT would be very special. You are there for the experience and none better for a 6 yr old that a Fairy God Mother and the Princesses!

Thank you :) I talked about CRT last night with DH and so I think it's probably down to CRT or Akershus. We aren't doing the DP this time, it's just too much food for us, so paying OOP there isn't much of a price difference. Yikes I hate having to make this decision by Monday!

Re-posting my dining plans from the Restaurant board for your criticism and expert advice!!!!

Love your dining plans!!! Will IPO be making your reservations?

Boma and Sci Fi are must dos for us. Cape May is my favorite character breakfast (and sooooo convenient when you are staying at the resort). CP before park opening is on my bucket list. As you know, I did the Ohana, EWP, fireworks at the Poly Beach and it was a spectacular lineup. Haven't been to Tutto, Via Napoli or Biergarten, but I hear great things about all of these places- they should be lots of fun.

Brown Derby sounds great for the Fantasmic Package, but Mama Melrose is also a good choice (I believe you need to call to book the FP, right?)

Marakesh was one of our dining favorites on our first visits to EPCOT but we haven't taken the kids there yet. I am assuming you will be all set with enough park days on your tickets. If you are doing US/IoA that day, then it sounds like you may be using an entry just for dining (unless it is an extended EMH). If you don't have park days left on your ticket, then there are lots of great choices around the resort or BW (Captain's Grille or Kouzzina come to mind)

Thanks Mike and Dee! I also thought Mama Melroses might be better for us but we are also doing Tutto and Via Napoli so I didn't want Italian overload. DH is half Italian too so he compares every sauce to his mama's! :lmao:

I am booking through IPO. I am 99% sure that barring some financial catastrophe we will be staying CL. DH said to me that since we are spending so much time at BC that I would be kicking myself while we are by the pool or chilling in the room out of the sun - WHY did we downgrade???? LOL

We have 10 days of park hopper tickets. DH also wants a water park day, but we can just buy one day's admission on one of our resort days if the kids want to go. I planned on having tickets every day so that even if we wanted to stroll into Epcot for shopping (and again, by "we" I mean of course ME) it will be fine. Does anyone see any issues? Our other option for the Universal Day would be Garden Grove since they have their BBQ night that night.

natebemma/Dee - I booked for 1/21 through 1/24 - CL - my kids have a few days off school and I couldn't pass up the decent SW fares a few weeks ago (unfortunately no $59 dollar fares, but still reasonable), and we have APs - so most probably know how those (as someone else once said) call out to you from the drawer .... "Use me!"

Now to just break it to DH - LOL! Since we are going for a few days next week, and have a whole week book for Easter. It will be okay, right? (Lucky I have such a tolerant husband.)

I just checked out the beginning of the thread because I hadn't looked recently (since I don't need a lot of general info about BC/BCV) and it's great! I hadn't seen the pool noodle part OR the official drink (very important - I'll be getting one!) - you've done a really great job.

We were able to change our arrival day to the day before our DS's 8th bday. That way we will have the full day to celebrate. It took alot of convincing DH though!;) DS's favorite's are all the old character's like Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale. So we ended up booking Garden Grill for his actual Bday. Apparently they provide a birthday cupcake for no extra charge too. I didn't know that until we booked and saw the info on the reservation. As far as I know they are the only restaurant that does this without you ordering something in advance. BTW, most of the reviews I have read for GG have been positive. Less stress because there is not a buffett, great character interaction are the things I have read.

Chef Mickey's is a must do once and only once in our book. DS will tell you differently. Apparently he liked all of the dessert choices last year. But it is too expensive for so so food IMO. Last year was our first time there. We did that on our first night but we were staying at the GF so that made it very easy.

Now one we have heard great reviews about is the character dinner at the GF. 1900 PF. We had reservations last year there but DS decided he wanted me to cancel them. In fact last year we cancelled alot of our reservations. We were not on the DDP and decided we liked CS more. We are not on the DDP this year either so part of me wonders if we will do the same once there.

Let me know your thoughts! THANKS SO MUCH!

DH wanted to go to BD for the graperfruit cake. Hoping that we can get it at Starring Rolls. Too expensive when we are not on the DDP.

This will be our first trip trying out the Sci Fi. Nathan requested it too.

Never have tried Boma or Ohana's. We booked Kona for our Wishes night. Is Ohana's better? Does it require the credit card for reservations too?

Oh and I love your late breakfast reservation. That will make for a great resort day!

Thanks for the heads up! I think the moderators close down a thread when it hits 250 pages, so at the rate we are going, we still have a couple of weeks before I pack us all up and move!!!

We are doing the same thing with our tickets. It is worth it to waste $20 or so if we don't go to a park but to have the option if we want too. Knowing Nate and I we will come with some reason to run in being so close. Last year we took the bus from MK to DHS just to ride the Toy Story ride and then had time to watch American Idol. It was actually a fun night and I think we were only there for a little over an hour. Being so close to both DHS and Epcot will make it even easier.:thumbsup2

MickeyT- another one for January! :)

Vicki- Thank you so much for your kind words!

Shortly after I returned from my trip to the BC in 2010, the thread hit the 250 or so page mark, so we we were going to get closed. The last person who had maintained the thread (who happens to live in a town about 10 minutes from me) was no longer around and a lot of the photos were gone- all you saw was the message that the photo link was no longer available.

Well, the thread had great bones, I had taken a ton of pictures in my 2 BC vacations, we have some SPECTACULAR resources here, and LOTS of people have vounteered to check out info or take photos I need since then.

Speaking of the unofficial drink, The Sunken Treasure- apparently it is no longer on the menu at HH. Some of the bartenders still know how to make it, and one was thrilled when Pixarmom recently asked for one. For research and photographic purposes, of course. :drinking1

Yes, the bartenders @ the pool bars normally know how to make the traditional drink of the resort, in my experience - I have the WL bartenders make me a Salmon Run when I'm there and it is not on their menu any longer either.

Now, for the coffee talk, I would be happy to get pics and flavor details for what is offered BC CL next week if someone hasn't reported back before then. (But I admit, I stick to the machine in the lounge.... SF Vanilla on the bottom, shot of espresso and then cafe latte on top :cloud9:)

Yes, I would definitely appreciate photos of the new coffee makers and coffee stations/supplies

The other picture I would like is a room view like this, without my son's legs in it!!!

IMG_0148.jpg

I have asked for this in the past, and someone may have actually sent it to me, but if so, I have forgotten where I have filed it, so...

IF there is any resort-specific merchandise in the Marketplace, photos would be great.

I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

Thanks!

Dee

DISNEYNUTS - Christmas at BC/BCV is wonderful! I hope Dee doesn't mind if I share some photos from 2008 for you (okay, a bunch - they came from the Christmas Eve part of my trip report from that year):

Re-posting my dining plans from the Restaurant board for your criticism and expert advice!!!!

Day One: Arrive about 1 p.m. We are staying at the BC so I thought a family meal at Biergarten SNIP!

Just remember to bring a zip lock bag, strike that, bring a HEFTY BAG! to snag some of those pretzel rolls to send to dear old Marlton Mom. Yeah sure they'll be Pretzel croutons by the time they get to me but I can deal with wearing my teeth down, gnawing on them in remembrance of their Bavarian bounty. Once my teeth are gone I can shellac the rest and decorate the Christmas tree with them for an authentic German celebration!

While I have you all on the line I've been thinking about a Beach Club/Yacht Club resort unsung hero. Yes that's right I'm talking about Resort Shampoo!!

Just think of all the ways that BC/YC Resort shampoo has saved your bacon, like that time that you didn't bring enough undies but you didn't want to do a whole load. Resort shampoo to the rescue! And how many of us have used resort shampoo to clean out our refillable mugs? Huh, huh?? Yes folks, resort shampoo has a 101 uses. Resort conditioner.... not so much!

So lets hear it for BC/YC Resort Shampoo! I'm nominating it for amenity of the week!

~Marlton Mom

PS. Don't worry about the CM's noticing when you drag a Hefty bag, filled to overflowing, out of an all you can eat buffet. Most of the CM's are from Germany so if they give you the hairy eyeball upon your exit just yell "Look!! It's David Hasselhoff, over THERE!!!" and they will go running towards the direction that you point to. For me it works every time!

~MM

Seriously just spit coffee all over my screen!! (Can I use resort shampoo to clean it? ;)) This is the funniest thing you have said (today at least!) Keep it coming!!!

Also, shameless post to say 6 more days!!
