Correlle Dinnerware

We always used it growing up. One would break every now and then, but they were great overall.

The lead in the old Corelle was not in the dishes themselves, but in the paint used for the decorative borders, so if you have the plain upainted Corelle of any vintage it's fine to use, regardless of what you believe about testing.

We got two sets (with painted trim) when we moved in together, one I had purchased, and one DH inherited from his parents. We've been using them almost daily for 40 years now, so I think that if there was lead to leach, it's kind of too late to worry about it.

The Corelle is the only sturdy everyday dishware I've found that is thin enough to stack 8 place settings in my kitchen cabinet. I'd like to replace them at this point, but I haven't been able to find a new laminated glass pattern that I like. IKEA has some in their offerings as well, made of the same kind of glass.

They do shatter on tile, but we have wood floors in the kitchen, so they just spin around and make a loud noise if you drop them.
