Correlle Dinnerware

My first set of Corelle had a small baby blue floral pattern around the edge. It didn't "age" well IMO. I replaced it with plates etc. with a basic thin blue stripe around the edge. Any extra Corelle dishes I have like serving dishes, pasta bowls, etc. are plain white. Funny thing is, I just checked the website and the set I got rid of is still listed as a "best seller" and available all over the site, while the white with a plain blue band only has a few random bowls on there.

They used to have Corelle factory outlet stores in factory outlet malls? I don't think my mother and I had ever been to one. But my mom gets her Corelle dinnerware at Macy's when they have sales and my mom likes them because they are nice and are good quality too. Another brand of dinnerware my mom likes but has never gotten any was Fiesta dinnerware and they used to be all the rage in the 40's

Be aware that if one drops on the floor and does break (rare), there will be knife-like shards to be cleaned up. They really do shatter.
I was just about to say the same thing. We use them in our RV because they are supposed to be more durable. I dropped one on the floor and it shattered all over the entire kitchen/living room. Thankfully, our Yorkie was asleep on the couch at the time so she wasn't on the floor. I had to grab her up and lock her in the bedroom while I picked up the bigger pieces and vacuumed 3 times to get the smaller pieces up. We got them because they were supposed to be unbreakable since RVs do bounce around a lot when travelling. I wanted melamine but you can't put those in the microwave.

I bought an 8 piece set of all white (I believe it’s called Winter White) last year on Correlle’s website. It was a much better deal than the stores. It replaced my 28 year old set of Pfaltzgraff which was heavy. I was considering that white Correlle for many years and I’m really happy with the set.

I have one lunch plate that belonged to my parents (avocado green edge), that I treasure and use every day. And, I have my own set (square white) that I bought a few years ago.

I've used Corelle my entire life.

Growing up, my family had this pattern, called Old Town Blue. (My husband had the same one growing up.)
I don't have any tattoos but I've often contemplated getting one of this pattern on my ankle or something.

My first set of my own, as an adult, was called Callaway. I used this for at least a decade or more.

Then I had a pattern called Emma for a long time. I really loved this one. But the paint started to fade a lot a couple years back.

We bought this one several years ago, called Holiday Berries, that we use during winter months.

And our current non-Winter set is called Amelia.

As others said, I don't recommend using vintage corelle dishes for eating, due to lead paint.

The company themselves has recommended not using pieces that were produced before 2005.

My kids grew up on Corelle and yes they can break just like everything else we had including Fisher-Price toys and Tonka trucks 🤷🏽‍♀️.

Corelle made some lovely dinnerware in the past, but I don't care for their newer, more abstract patterns.

If you google vintage corelle dishware, there are numerous articles stating you should not be using them because they contain lead!
IF you have dishes manufactured prior to 2000 - yes. That's 25 years ago.

Since then, according to my linked article,
"Parent company Instant Brand's testing has confirmed that vintage Corelle products are considered safe to use by FDA lead-safety regulations."

Since we bought our dishes 2018, I'm thinking they're safe.

Have had it as an extra set at least 25 years (along with other sets/not Correlle and eventually donated a set or two).

I will keep this set - I like it/it’s light. Never used.

Grew up with them, Mom & Grandma both used them daily. Durable, they last forever unless one hits just right & it shatters. I don't believer there is any in between with Corelle - they're either fine or shattered.

Mine are dolphin pattern, got them 2004 while in college. Haven't broken a single one. I really like the big wide soup bowls, good for pastas, salads, etc.

I love the Corelle my husband bought me shortly before we got married 35 years ago. A few pieces were lot (Ie dropped and shattered).

I love the pattern, so no need to update. At some point we bought additional plates in beige, because we needed more than 12 plates, and our pattern had been dc’d by then.

Now, if I have more people than plates, everyone gets paper plates.

I love Corelle, I have some that are 30+ years old and you can't even tell it. I just wish I had stuff that matched. Seems as if I had a set that was a wedding gift from my first marriage, I got a different pattern like 10 years ago because I had moved and didn't feel like looking for what I already had. When I got married again, DH brought yet a 3rd pattern for Corelle into the home.

They are hard to break, but if one ever does break, it is BAD...seems like they explode.

Love, love, love our Corelle dishes. We use them every day and appreciate how lightweight they are and how compactly they stack/store in our cabinets. We've purchased Corelle dishes for each of our children as they've moved out.

Grew up with them. Not sure when my parents got them but 50 years. Recently we started to consider using another set and donate the Corelle. I stashed while we thought about donating. We found we wore off the other set, non-Corelle, so went back to wanting to use the Corelle. Since I moved the one set to donate I haven't found where I stashed them; I ended up buying more from Corelle. We rarely broke them so them shattering is a non-issue but otherwise we just swept and vacuumed when it did happen.

So those who use pre-2005 Corelle, are you not concerned that the company suggests not using them due to their lead levels?
