Just remember to bring a zip lock bag, strike that, bring a HEFTY BAG! to snag some of those pretzel rolls to send to dear old Marlton Mom. Yeah sure they'll be Pretzel croutons by the time they get to me but I can deal with wearing my teeth down, gnawing on them in remembrance of their Bavarian bounty. Once my teeth are gone I can shellac the rest and decorate the Christmas tree with them for an authentic German celebration!

PS. Don't worry about the CM's noticing when you drag a Hefty bag, filled to overflowing, out of an all you can eat buffet. Most of the CM's are from Germany so if they give you the hairy eyeball upon your exit just yell "Look!! It's David Hasselhoff, over THERE!!!" and they will go running towards the direction that you point to. For me it works every time!

~MM

As long as you give me your credit card number so I can post bail!!!! :lmao:

And don't Hassle the Hoff!!!!

When I worked in a record store 100 years ago, we had a section for David Hasslehoff records, only they were under "A". The manager renamed him David [bad word that starts with A]hoff. :rotfl:

And yes, I am old enough to not only remember records, but to have worked in a store that sold them AFTER I finished my first college degree. Where's my walker?????

Hi Everybody! I'm just taking a quick second to post. We will be staying at the BC for the first time in July, 2012. I seriously can 't wait. It has been a desire of mine to stay here for a long time! I'll be reading every word!

While I have you all on the line I've been thinking about a Beach Club/Yacht Club resort unsung hero. Yes that's right I'm talking about Resort Shampoo!!

Just think of all the ways that BC/YC Resort shampoo has saved your bacon, like that time that you didn't bring enough undies but you didn't want to do a whole load. Resort shampoo to the rescue! And how many of us have used resort shampoo to clean out our refillable mugs? Huh, huh?? Yes folks, resort shampoo has a 101 uses. Resort conditioner.... not so much!

So lets hear it for BC/YC Resort Shampoo! I'm nominating it for amenity of the week!

Those Christmas photos are beautiful!

Are the decorations in the Yacht Club similar? Also, when do they put them up? I am reallyl hoping they'll be there early November!:goodvibes

So had family in this past week and it was wonderful! Now full focuse on the Disney Trip! Already went ahead and got the Christmas tree up since Halloween will be over in a week and we will be leaving out of here on Dec. 8. Gives us time to enjoy it and one of those chores that takes alot of time. So right now my house looks like the Nightmare before Christmas with the mix of Halloween and Christmas decorations up.

By the way already cooked and ate my Thanksgiving meal last Thursday. My mother wanted to celebrate Thanksgiving while she was here, so the day she drove to KY from SC I cooked! Ate leftovers all weekend. I am thinking on the real Thanksgiving the three of us will be at Golden Corral!

So family came and I had all thier presents wrapped and under the tree. So when they left, I made them pack those gifts up in the car! Now I won't have to travel with them and they can sit in thier house for two months. It will drive them a little crazy wondering what is inside, but that is half the fun!

So now I am picking out T-shirt designs and starting to print them out. Ironing tonight and hopefully by bed, all T-shirts will be done!

House cleaned; check, dinner started; check, son homeschooled; check, house decorated; check, Disney T-shirts, in process

I am on a roll this week!!!!!:banana::banana::banana:

Quick question; When do all the choirs, Santas, and holiday characters start coming out to the resorts? Is it only on Christmas eve or do they start earlier? I will be at BCV 12-14 and OKW 14-20 and would love to be a part of it all.

Thank you Robyn! The rest of the travel documents came today and that put a big smile on my face... it's fun when you are staying DVC and non DVC and then DVC again means triple the Mickey mail!!!

How is your mom? Haven't seen you post lately and I was thinking that yesterday and when I checked this morning there was a post from you!!

Thanks again for the well wishes!

~Nannette

Thanks for asking.
Some days are good, some not so good. I haven't posted a lot lately - between my Mom and school starting things have been hectic!

We haven't even booked our summer trip yet. DH's business really took a hit after we came back from vacation. We'll still be at Disney but horrors - we might do a split stay at Universal and we might even (I can barely say it) stay at the Dolphin unless a really good AP rate comes out. This is our year to buy APs again . . .

Hope you and everyone who is close to their trip has a magical vacation!!!!

From my experience (2008), that was Christmas eve only.

edited: except that Teena who definitely knows better than me said differently below!

Decorations go up in November, somewhere from the first of November up until Thanksgiving. We never know for sure when.

Holidays festivities (choirs, holiday characters, story telling, etc.) usually occur the two weeks leading up to Christmas at both the YC and BC. And for the past six years, Santa has been in the lobby of the BC on Christmas Eve.

This sounds lovely, can't wait to experience it!!

This sounds like something I would LOVE to experience!!! Being able to take off from work that close to Christmas is IMPOSSIBLE:headache:, as it is I'm pushing my luck the week after Thanksgiving. At least I get to see all the beautiful decorations! Some of my favorite pictures of my boys were taken at the Beach Club lobby over Thanksgiving '09:thumbsup2

Can't wait to be there only 29 more days:woohoo:

Hey you! Yes you, over there in the corner.... crying because your trip is over...or it's too far away still.

Wanna feel a whole lot better?

Yeah sure ya do.

Wanna feel a whole lot DISNEY BETTER?? Well OK then! Here ya go.... I mean literally, go here to this page http://vimeo.com/30885670

It's a link you see and you click on it. If you do it will take you to a Video that relives the 40th anniversary celebration that was just held at the Magic Kingdom. You know the one, with the special parade and the special castle stage show. Well you can see all that in this video.

What's that you say? Parades aren't your cup of tea.... Well then how about some video of the.... well heck just click on the link and see for yourself. You're gonna wanna watch this.

Oh, and 1 more thing. There is video of the special perimeter fireworks showing of Wishes. Yes, I know watching fireworks on T.V. is like watching a wet dog dry, but give it a shot.

I know you're gonna love this.

Be forewarned though, the video is about 50 minutes long, which is the same amount of time it takes a wet dog to dry.

Well what are you waiting for?? CLICK ON THE LINK!!!!!

~Marlton Mom

PS. Think of all the money you'll save on antidepressants if you watch this video!
PPS. Think of all the money Disney's gonna make when you can't stand it any more and call to make reservations!

I must confess that I have not read through all 203 pages of this thread. Yep, I'm a slacker but I did read the first 7 & last 3. I'm wondering if I can be added to the December list.
I will be at the BC (with my DD & her BFF) December 8-12. It was a bit of a spur of the moment decision so I'm way behind on my compulsive planning.
Teena, I hope to get to meet you this time, we were at Yacht Club a few years ago but never saw you. I wasn't stalking you, honest!

It would be wonderful to meet you. I should be back to work on 12/11 after a short five day trip to visit Jeanne and Princess Lily. I only work Sundays and Mondays (except this week I'm working Friday & Saturday too).

So I have to make our ADRs on Monday and we have decided to not go with the dining plan. We had it when we were there last year, but found we ended up throwing most of the food away that our girls got (CS meals), and on the last day we spent about an hour buying stuff just to use our snack credits.

Do many people not do the dining plan or do you find for your family it works well to have it? I think I may end up booking CRT for the Saturday we arrive for Paige's 6th birthday. I just think eating in the castle on her birthday would be awesome. We will be planning 5 other TS meals ('Ohana dinner on my birthday, Crystal Palace early entry to the park, 50's Prime Time dinner, Cape May Cafe breakfast, and Tusker House late breakfast).
Ugh it's such a struggle to know what to do. I would love to book a lot of sit down dinners, but I planned to order from Garden Grocer and have lots of breakfast stuff and snacks/drinks at the room. We would eat breakfast most mornings in the room before we left. Our late breakfasts would be used more like lunches, so we would likely only have a snack mid afternoon, then dinner at a CS.

Do you find that there is enough variety from the CS that you don't miss not having TS everyday (lol or hypothetically would you if you have never done it that way). I just think there are so many great CS places to eat....I want to try Main Street Bakery and Columbia Harbour House in MK, Flame Tree BBQ at AK, Starring Rolls for lunch at DHS (ok truth be told I just want to gorge on cupcakes :D), and there are so many magnificent places to try Epcot.

On the flip side, I would love to book Le Cellier, Flying Fish, Citricos, Blue Zoo, the HDDR, Kona Cafe breakfast, etc etc...but that's really not how we eat at home...lol I would just love it if it were.

I guess I would just love to see what most people do. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot and not have enough TS, but I just don't know if the meal plan is worth it. Should I book a TS every day and as we get closer to our reservation (meaning before we leave as to avoid the cancellation fee) cancel if we decide that we would rather just play it by ear and eat when we are hungry rather than have it be so scheduled? lol as you all can tell I am really struggling with this!

I know you're gonna love this.

WOW. Thanks MM. Only to the 4 minute mark because of my download speeds (sloooooooow) but so enjoying. Don't know who Martin Smith Videographer is but love this work. Deb Wills, Lou Mongello. Real star power for us DIS'ers!

......I wasn't stalking you, honest!

Don't worry That Mom. We all stalk her. And she loves it!

And.....!:welcome:

Please add us: DISNEYNUTS Beach Club 12/17-12/28 SO excited!!!!!

Sorry, you have to read 3 more pages before I add you to the list!

(Just kidding!!!) ;)

Do many people not do the dining plan or do you find for your family it works well to have it?

My family had done the Deluxe Dining Plan once (WAYYYYYY too much food) and the regular plan twice. We like the ability to order what we want, knowing that we have "prepaid" for the meal. We don't have annual passes, but if we did, I would do Tables in Wonderland instead.

The dining plan is not for everyone- if you are not all dessert eaters, or if you want to order some appetizers and potentially split meals (the portion sizes at Disney are HUGE), then it is probably not cost effective. If your kids are "Disney Adults" at the ripe old age of 10 and they are picky and will order kids meals anyway, the DP may not be for you.

I don't think you need to make a final decision about the DP until right before your trip (is it a week or so, or a few days).

Make the dining reservations you want. (You can cancel later). Closer to your trip, pull up the menus on the DIS or Allears and do a rough estimate of what you might spend. That can help you determine whether the DP is worth it or not.

Dining is hands down my favorite thing to do at Disney!!! There are a bunch of awesome counter service options. Heck, I could eat at Sunshine Seasons at EPCOT every day and have something different, except that there are too many other amazing World Showcase places.

Good luck, and let us know if you have other questions

Dee

PS- My FAVORITE meal is breakfast at Kona. Three words- Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes

Hey SydandPaige'sMom. We have done it many ways. Free dining plan. Bought the dining plan. No dining plan. Now we do not do the dining plan for just the reasons you stated. If we want Beaches and Cream as our sit down meal for day we have Beaches and Cream. We love Columbia Harbor House and Flame Tree BBQ. Make your ADR's as you normally would (early) and you can cancel as needed.

Another thing I have noticed. May be perceived or not on my part. When you tell the servers that you are not on the dining plan they almost sigh a 'thank you'.

Another tip. If you like the prepaid part of the dining plan just add up the $$$$$ cost of the dining plan and add it to a prepaid debit or gift card and take it with you. Then if you don't use it you will have it to buy what you want at the end, not what snacks Disney says you can.

Hope this helps.
