2010 point announcement? Where?

I am indifferent on the 2010 point chart change- however, I am indifferent at this time because I have not SEEN an actual announcement, seen a new point chart, determined how it will affect us, etc...
I am a bit irritated that I am finding more info here at Disboards second hand than in my mail, e-mail, phone call, etc...
As a new member, I have already experienced missing an issue of Disney Files (which I only learned about from here), missing the add-on annnouncement when it first came out for the new resorts and additions, (I did get it after reading about others taking advantage for about 3 weeks & NO we are not interested at this point but I would like to be notified before the general public gets wind of it), I also have not received ANY announcements on any new enhancements or changes- including RCI (which we detest) to this day- I only know of this first from reading these boards and have had to do searches to find the info on line...

At what point do we start receiving these things and in the interrum, where can I check on daily happenings at DVC??
I am vey excited about our newly acquired membership and we expect to enjoy years of vacations w/ our kids now, grandkids later, as well as "just us" trips- But I am getting a bit miffed that I am getting all of my info second hand...
Again, where can I get the info if I am not receiving mailers (in a reasonable time), e-mails, and such?

When did you close on your ownership? Did you purchase direct through Disney?

The announcement on the 2010 points chart is on the DVC Member Website.

All of it is on the DVC member site and I get emails from DVC with updates. Have you signed up on the member site to receive emails? The one mentioning the 2010 point re-allocation came on Friday 1/23. It was not the headline in the email but it was listed at the bottom with other new news.

Hi & Thx- We closed the beginning of September- Yes, we purchased direct through Disney! Our guide gave us lots of info and occassionally I receive a "postcard" of sorts w/ his name on it about things- It seems though everytime I have read about it on Disboards weeks before receiving it in the mail...Yes, I have signed up for all of the e-mails... seems to a fault I do seem to get a lot- Just haven't gotten many at all on actual DVC news FROM DVC... and when I do, again it is way after reading about it here...

Don't get me wrong, this board is a large part of teh reason we finally decided to buy- I love the people and info I get here- I just feel I should "know" what someone's thread is talking about when it says... "II no more and RCI takes over" or something in that respect- I was like..."What??!" I had no idea what they were talking about...
I did just check the member website and see points charts are listed but I can not see them when I open it- ??? Maybe site is having trouble...
Again, I plan to thoroughly enjoy our membership- For a very long time to come- I just wish I would have had an idea of what was to come when everyone else is talking about it...
Also, It would be nice to be able to see what points are adjusted and how- so we, too, can decide what we should do for 2010 vacation different from 2009...
With 200 points we will still have a great time but I really have no plans of adding on any time soon- & would still like to get at least 5 days of vacation for our points (7 member family-always need 2 BR Villa at least)
Not trying to really vent here but I hope not to be left out of the loop on such important news... Thx for the info- I will check again w/ MS to make sure they are keeping us informed-

I agree that DVC isn't always great about keeping members informed quickly and when they do, they almost seem to hide things in the news. The point changes are almost like an afterthought in the email. I didn't see anything on the Dis till Friday, so at least the timing wasn't too bad on this one. This is the email I got on Friday:

Just read quite a bit about it here before it was received in my e-mail yesterday- afternoonish I would say...
Checked e-mail yesterday morning before work- not there- last night home and it was there along with other e-mails I get- I know it was sent sometime yesterday afternoon- Maybe I am on the low list of totem pole in announcements... LOL I can laugh about it- I guess
Has anyone else had an issue with actually seeing the charts? I have clicked on all for 2009 and 2010 from the member website and can't see any of them- it just opens a white page...
I appreciate the trouble shooting you all are attempting to help me with- however I do think I must be getting delayed after most others receive e-mail or something- maybe not been a member long enough and they are still catching us up in the system...??
I do hope to start receiving things as everyone else- As for the Disney Files- I have my first copy- (It came last week, Winter edition)
I just hope we get the new Vacation planner the same time frame as everyone else...
