2010 Mom's Panel Results along with lists of Round 2 & 3 Participants

:welcome:
Jonas it was great getting to know a bit about you! :woohoo:

Good luck with the running! I envy you! I need more energy or motivation to do that! I hope your little one feels better soon. So many of the "colds" right now are turning out to be the flu.

Don't know- but I tell newbies it is Michael Eisner to get them to stare right at it so when it comes... hehhehehee...

Don't see a QOD, so...

Let's do a Top Ten list!

The topic is Top Ten Worst Answers to Guest Questions by a Bad Mom's Panel Member:

Jud's Top Ten Worst Answers to Guest Questions by a Bad Mom's Panel Member:

First we need the Guest Questions so here goes:

10. Where is the line for the world's highest roller coaster?
9. How much does the special front of the line pass cost?
8. When I bring my own lunch meat and bread, which CS has the best
fixings bar?
7. Where in the Magic Kingdom can I get a beer?
6. How can I get the special elevators to go to the Club Levels of resorts?
5. Can I stay off site and still swim at the Beach Club pools?
4. Why when we share meals do we have to tip the server?
3. About 5 minutes before Illuminations begins, where is the best place to
push and shove our way to the railing so we can see better?
2. Where can I park to avoid paying the parking fee?

and the number one most asked question is:

1. Can I bring my All Star refillable mug back next year?

:scared1:popcorn:::laughing:

Okay Jud your turn to come up with great come backs! :lmao:

I would love to know what your family does when the parks close? Do you just crash at your resort or do you indulge in Disney nightlife? I know there are times of the year when the parks are open to the wee hours of the AM but I want to know what you do with the rest of your evening when the park closes at dusk (AK) or when MK closes at 9 PM?

Ah! Well you can see how I missed that! hehehehee...

I went a year without an AP in 05-06, and still spent a lot of time at Disney! In fact, I recommend it! Forces one to find out what is there! And there is a lot!

Resort tours are the first thing one might think of, but I also spent an afternoon lying on the beach at Ft Wilderness after taking the boat over from Wilderness Lodge. Saw some peacocks that were a bit scary! Noisy things! And don't like to share the path if they are on it!

Have also gone to the beach at the Poly to watch the MK Fireworks and on one of the bridges at the Epcot Resorts to watch Illuminations.

And have sat on the beach and at the campground for movies!

The first "return" year, after having been away since the 70's, I was there in January, and on one day tickets, so after the parks closed, I would go do one of the many dinner theaters in the area. Arabian Knights was by far the finest- and still is, though none of them are what they were back then.

And most recently, after leaving the park at closing, I hit the pool at Y&BC! And did the slide! And the whirlpool and the sinking sand! I think if I were staying on prop and was out of the parks, it would be the pool for me in most cases!

:)

Jud

oh Jud, best pool on property, were you staying at Yacht or Beach? I think I like Beach better.

Well!!!

First, and I find this hard to believe, you missed the Number 1 Bad Guest Question of all time! I shall leave it to you, or some one else who wishes to prove that they should or should have made the Mom's Panel!

Moving on- problem is, many of your questions I would have to side with the Guest! LOL! Since I am not going to make the Panel, and have no intention of trying again, I can say I think it is outrageous to charge for parking: and I think the Photo Pass CD/service is grossly overpriced, so have no problem with people sharing them! I also think the ride photos are grossly overpriced and that they would sell hundreds or even thousands more at half the price- and still make a fortune, especially now that it is all digital!

And with #8, I think you might as well pass next year too! hehehehee... Ewwwwwwwww!!!!

But, on #3, I will file an amicus brief on your behalf when the person gets off the ground and sues you! hehehehee...

In actuality, I had no idea of any answers to my QOD, but last night watching Letterman, it just seemed to me it would be a good question and would generate dozens of posts...

Now you know why I am not in corporate planning.

But to refresh, new question: what is the #1 Bad Guest Question at Disney World??? Anyone? :)

:)

Hi Donna!

I was at the Beach Club VIlla's! And yes, best pool on property and even better than I knew going in!!! All I wanted was that slide! But!!! The sandy bottom! Wow! And the whirlpool! Me and the kid had a blast in that!!! (I was the guest of a family, Mom Dad and DS9.)

Oh! And as I climbed the spiral to the top of the slide, I heard some noise and stopped at the top to watch the opening segment of Illuminations over the trees!

OK, this is major crunch time for me -- gotta start and finish packing in the next few days.

Note I did switch out question # 5. I switched from photo pass to pool swapping. I must have done it while you were posting.
Is that the #1 question? :confused3:lmao:

If it is not about pool swapping could it have something to do with scattering of ashes in MK?

Hehehehee... ahhhhh, Kim! Pool hopping! Never did it... but oh I wanted to- was at the Board Walk and SOOOOO wanted to go hit the YBC pool (and that slide!!!) But I refrained!

On the other hand, once talked to a local to my home lady who explained to me how she would drive down for the day, park at the Grand Floridian, change at the pool, spend the day, have a fancy lunch at the GF, and drive home!

However, no, this is not the question! And while if the list were most annoying and repeated questions on on-line groups, the mugs question might be it- and heck probably is- in real life, there is one question more than any other that the CM's talk about...

I will tell, but I will give some time for someone to give it a shot.

What time is the 3:00 parade?

Is Walt really frozen in the castle?

:confused3

:confused3

He is??? Oh my!!! I never knew that!!! Wow!!!

3 O'clock Parade- that should be on the list!

I think Kim got it right! Should have been top ten stupid guest questions!

:)

Jud

Oh we are getting some really good questions now! :lmao:

Jud you are suppose to be coming up with good quirky answers for all of these!

I love the what time is the 3 o'clock parade! That is just perfect!:rotfl:

Jud did you see I asked about the scattering of ashes? But there is no way that could be the most asked question!

Could it be asking if you can stay on an attraction for another time around? I know I have asked that one myself! :goodvibes

Could the question have something to do with asking if the animals on the safari are real?

Could the most asked question be where is the nearest bathroom? :rolleyes1

Or which resort is it that is on the monorail to EPCOT?:yay:

I did come up with one good answer to a dumb question.
Here is the question: Why can't a pregnant woman ride Rockin' Roller Coaster?

Answer: Because the child does not meet the height requirement:rotfl:

OH! I thought of another dumb question to ask cast members:
Do you work here?

Or how about, "Could you take our picture"? It really should be "Please, would you take our picture?" anyway!

True story - when working at the Main Street Athletic Club in Magic Kingdom, I actually had a family of guests come up to me and ask, "Where is the Castle?" I smiled and politely said, "Walk outside, and look to your left, you can't miss it!" I guess they must've been looking down the whole walk from the gate to the shop or something? :rotfl: It was actually a good lesson in remembering that not everyone knows as much as you might know about the parks and you should not take for granted that they do, even something like the biggest icon of the Parks. :goodvibes

LOL! Ahhhh! Zanna! You worked there! You MUST know the #1 stupid guest question? Or ridiculous... or funniest, or whatever??? I really thought this was general knowledge- honestly!

But where is the castle- that is a new one to me... and pretty darn good... whew...

:)

Jud

Hi Kim!

Oh we are getting some really good questions now! :lmao:

Jud you are suppose to be coming up with good quirky answers for all of these!

Oh! Sorry! hehehehee...

I love the what time is the 3 o'clock parade! That is just perfect!:rotfl:

And you know it is asked!

Jud did you see I asked about the scattering of ashes? But there is no way that could be the most asked question!

Opps! Missed that! Sorry! But yes, no. :)

Could it be asking if you can stay on an attraction for another time around? I know I have asked that one myself! :goodvibes

Hmmm... I imagine that might be asked quite a bit- by experienced park guests anyway. I once did Splash in the same seat 7 times... slow cool day- most boats were empty...

Could the question have something to do with asking if the animals on the safari are real?

Another good one and I do know quite factually that there are some who do believe they are animatronic! In fact at the end, the wart hogs <?> are so strange in the holes that I thought they might be...

Could the most asked question be where is the nearest bathroom? :rolleyes1

Hehehehee... ya, but we are looking for stupid questions!

I did come up with one good answer to a dumb question.
Here is the question: Why can't a pregnant woman ride Rockin' Roller Coaster?

Answer: Because the child does not meet the height requirement:rotfl:

Oh! That is good! You just passed your ride attendant test! Very good!

OH! I thought of another dumb question to ask cast members:
Do you work here?

hehehehee... though I do take pride in having been asked that myself many times- even by the occasional CM! (Some of whom I have had to educate on some matters!)

Or how about, "Could you take our picture"? It really should be "Please, would you take our picture?" anyway!

Oh, now you are getting all English Teacher on us! Hehehehee... What is actually amazing is how many people will NOT ask that question! I have taken so many pictures for people in the parks- and most I have had to ask them. One particularly wonderful moment was coming out of AK at closing, and there was a man sitting on one of the planters, looking satisfied but totally beat- as one should. His little girl was with him- forget if there were others or if he was waiting. A camera dangled from his hand... I scooted over and greeted him. Asked him if he had a good day, engaged him a bit, brought him around... then I asked if he had any picture of himself? With sudden realization, he said he didn't. Even then I had to offer to use his camera and shoot him and his little girl. Well, he was thrilled and he looked really bright and happy through the viewfinder! It was a great moment for both of us.

:)

Jud

Kim says I am supposed to come up with answers... though this is totally off in another direction from what I was thinking in the first place... I wanted you all to come up with some really great answers you could give as Moms Panel Moms that would not really be great- in fact, would go down in history as the really worst ever answers!

And of course, Kim already posted the best answer to a question- the pregnant lady thing- love it!

So... I will give it a shot, but no guarantees...

(Okay- nothing great here, but I gave it a shot...)

"Where is the line for the world's highest roller coaster?"

Ahhhh... next to the world's highest roller coaster?

"How much does the special front of the line pass cost?"

A credited role in a Disney movie.

"When I bring my own lunch meat and bread, which CS has the best fixings bar?"

The one that will provide you an escort out of the park?

"Where in the Magic Kingdom can I get a beer?"

They're in a cooler at the bottom of the Briar Patch.

"How can I get the special elevators to go to the Club Levels of resorts?"

Pay a lot of money?

"Can I stay off site and still swim at the Beach Club pools?"

How can you swim in the pool if you stay off site? Do you have two bodies or something?

"Why when we share meals do we have to tip the server?"

Because vun vay or anudda, ve vill get effry penny you haff before you leeff zee propertee.

"About 5 minutes before Illuminations begins, where is the best place to push and shove our way to the railing so we can see better?"

The WWF section.

"Where can I park to avoid paying the parking fee?"

At home.

"Can I bring my All Star refillable mug back next year?"

Sure! Why not. You can bring clothes too.

"What time is the 3:00 parade?"

Tomorrow.

"Is Walt really frozen in the castle?"

Yes. But the heating system should be repaired shortly.

"Tinklover: Can I get a free room upgrade? with a view of the castle?"

Okay- I don't think this is a guess- I think you are really asking! hehehehee... And the answer is yes, quite often, but not sure how it happens...

:)

Jud

Jud - Your answers are making me LOL!!! And no, mine was not a real question, just answering the question posed about the #1 Bad Guest question. ;)

Today is Day 2 in the countdown to Reveal day!

I have so enjoyed getting to know all of you and thought it would be wonderful if something "concrete" could come of this year's experience.:goodvibes

So with that in mind and the inspiration of the photo below of Kaylene's children, along with her suggestion to name this area; I thought it would be fun to come up with our own official name for the concrete/tile areas in EPCOT where the lights twinkle under your feet.

Perhaps we can come up with several good ones and then take a vote on which one we all like the best. I figure if we all start to use this name then maybe it's use will spread and it will become known as that name! How fun would that be?

We also have to keep in mind that as Jud pointed out there are two of these areas, although I have only seen the one the Soarin' side myself. Maybe we need two related names?

Todays general question is: What shall we name twinkling ground areas in EPCOT?

....
Here's Kasi running around and around on the lights, giggling and having a ball...

and my boys trying to touch the twinkles and figure out how they work...

.....

Jud your answers to the quirky questions are great. I love the beer in the briar patch! :rotfl::woohoo:

We also still need to figure out your riddle about the most asked silly question that people say to CM's! :confused3

Could it be something about how well they are paid to work for Disney? :rotfl:

"Tomorrow's Future is Bright! Just Follow the Lights"

This is not really a name for the twinkle light area at Epcot but it just popped in my head and it's not even 5 am in the morning yet.

Here is another on for free:

"Tink's Twinkle Lights of Tomorrow"

Hope everyone has an awesome Sunday!
