Hi Marshay, forgive my ignorance but what is 1BR at BCV....?

Also, where is the HM ??? Ahhh, just found it !!!

Just wanted to update people not following me on twitter, that we got some good news today, DH's book proposal that he put in for a few months ago got approved today. So he'll be writing his 8th tech book now. He gets a little advance to write the books, and given yesterday's news, the timing couldn't be better. Hopefully this is the first of many good new things for him. :goodvibes

Thank you to everyone for their continued support and good thoughts!

...

Back to the topic at hand! :)

Zanna, that is such good news :)

"So I hope that now everyone understands my passion for Hidden Mickeys! If we are ever in the Parks together I promise to show you some Hidden Mickeys. I love to give Tours for a small fee (hint I never charge anything :-)
I look forward to getting to know more people on here!

Keep Dreaming Big!

Hi Marc, love your photos, and all the HM stuff :)

Thanks for all the great pics of HMs Marc! I love them too, and tour with Steve Barrett must have been fantastic. I'm always recommending his book!!! :goodvibes

If we both make the mom's panel, you'll have to be sure to point out lots of them out to me!

Hope you have a great weekend and thanks again for posting!

Jonas, DisJPK is our person of the day today (Friday). :yay:

Introduce your family, your likes, dislikes, jobs, or whatever you want to talk about. Then we can all ask you a few questions and you can spend the day answering us.

Today is Day 3 in the countdown to Reveal day!

Todays general question is:

I would love to know what your family does when the parks close? Do you just crash at your resort or do you indulge in Disney nightlife? I know there are times of the year when the parks are open to the wee hours of the AM but I want to know what you do with the rest of your evening when the park closes at dusk (AK) or when MK closes at 9 PM?

I so enjoyed everyone's answers about Hidden Mickeys yesterday! Marc your pictures were great and I loved seeing some HM that I have never noticed before! What an honor to get to spend time in Disney with Steve Barrett. I agree to that your handsome son looks a lot like his dad!:goodvibes

For tomorrow's question you will need to bring your creative thinking caps. It a good one!:woohoo:

Kathie, Suzannah, Kaylene, AmandaNC, Marc, Dannee, AmandaGA, Gloria, and Sue. of you are welcome to answer too you know.

Good morning, everyone :) I'm off to 5 soccer games for my kids today...but wanted to answer really quickly before I go :)

For us, it depends which park day it is and what resort we are staying in. For example, we always follow one of our AK park days with dinner at Boma. Then we spend a few hours enjoying that resort...looking at the animals, enjoying the lobby and the property. If we happen to be staying at AKV, then we might enjoy the fireside stories or the African stories/slide shows in the lobby, etc. :) On our other AK park day (we generally go there twice on each trip), we usually head to Downtown Disney after the park closes. That ends up being our DTD night to browse shops and enjoy that exciting area. If we are staying at Saratoga Springs Resort, then we get to DTD more often (SSR is walking distance or a quick boat ride to DTD). If we have a water park day, we might make that our DTD night instead, since those parks close early too. On our DHS days, if we are staying at the Beach Club then we take the boat back over and spend the evening walking around the Boardwalk area. Most MK and Epcot nights, we close the parks down and stay until Wishes/IllumiNations are over. By the time we get back to our resort, the kids are ready to crash. Once in a while, we'll take a quick dip in the pool though. That seems to be the one "complaint" our kids have...not enough pool time. So, lately we've been trying to do one DTD night and on the other nights that the parks close early, we try to head to the pool for a few hours.

Re-reading this, I'm realizing that this isn't a very concrete answer ;) ... essentially, we play it all by ear. If everyone is ready to keep going, we keep going until we crash. If not, we take it easy and relax back at the resort. Generally, we are park commando's though...we're up early, and we close the parks down. We're of "we're here, let's make the most of it and do everything we can" mentality. :woohoo:

The last few trips, we've been lucky enough to stay on Club Level at the WL and AKL. So, our short days have been followed by relaxing in the lounge, overlooking the beautiful lobbies. Mom & Dad can have a glass of wine, a great dessert, and catch some "grown up" time. The kids have a blast there also, and the arcade is always must-do for them as well.

At Christmas time, relaxing in the club level lounge you can look out over the beautifully decorated lobby and listen to carolers or - our favorite - Christmas music being played on "bells".

The last trip, we surprised our daughter with the "my first facial" spa treatment at AKL after a shorter day at the water parks. Dad & son went on a photo safari, while we enjoyed the spa experience. It really was my daughter's first treatment, and she truly felt like a grown-up afterwards. And it was definitely a memorable place to have it! :wizard:

Of course, we are like Kaylene too -- if we have enough "extra" energy DTD & Disney Quest is always a fun experience. I love sitting outside having a meal at Raglan Road and watching the hot air balloon. :goodvibes

Great pictures Marc! Those are new to me hidden mickeys.

some trivia: does anyone know WHO that is hitting that golfball in soarin?

Don't know- but I tell newbies it is Michael Eisner to get them to stare right at it so when it comes... hehhehehee...

Don't see a QOD, so...

Let's do a Top Ten list!

One of our favorite things to do was discovered last Christmas season. Our first day was a travel day and we had 19 family members coming in from different states and with different modes of transportation. Rather than sit around waiting for everyone to arrive, we went to Port Orleans Riverside and enjoyed Yehaa Bob Pianoman Jackson's show. What a delight! He had everyone up singing and dancing to his crazy songs!

It is a family oriented show so the younger kids enjoyed it too! You haven't lived until you count to 20 in multiple languages and then do it in Roman numerals!

Another thing that is enjoyed by us is the show and music at Raglan Road in Down Town Disney. The show beings at 9 PM so this is late night dinner favorite and then we stay to enjoy the Irish band and dancer.

One year we were able to do a part of the Adventurer's Club. We arrived early for a dinner reservation at Raglan Road and decided we would try the beginning part of AC. It was a blast and I really hated to leave to go get dinner. We always planned on returning and now it is GONE! :scared1::sad1:
I am really hoping the rumors of a return are true!:yay:

When we just want to enjoy the flavor of Disney we go for boat rides. The one that runs from EPCOT to Disney Studios is particularly good. Plus there is always an excuse to stop at BCR and head to Beaches and Cream for ice cream! This year we are going to get a Kitchen Sink! I can't wait!:woohoo:

We enjoy resort runs where we head to a resort just to check it out, enjoy the decor or decorations and explore the pool areas.
AK at we too love to see the Animals. Make sure you head to the main pool area as there are areas of animals beyond it!

Another favorite silly thing to do is to ride the monorail, either the MK loop or the longer run to EPCOT! You can stay on and make the full run or get off and explore. When it is adults only we have been known to head up the California Grill at the Contemporary and get a beverage. Then you can wander out on the roof patio there and breathe in the view! As Bert said in Mary Poppins, " Oh the rooftops of ...., Oh what a sight!"

One of these years we are going to make it to Jelly Rolls. We tried last year but it is an Adults Only place. We may make it this trip! I hear it is a lot of fun!

On nights when the parks close early we too plan a special dinner. Our favorite has been Hoop Dee Doo. It is just tickles our funny bones! I could see this show on every trip I make! :goodvibes

I think our all time favorite after park thing has been Cirque Du Soleil. :dance3:
It is so worth the money! We find that we have to remind each other to shut our mouths because every part of the show is jaw dropping!
If you have never been and decide to go make sure that you arrive as soon as they open the doors for seating. One of our favorite parts takes place before the show starts!:woohoo:
Here is an interview about it. The first part is about Monsters Inc but at 3:55 they start describing Cirque!

Jud QOD is on post 1646! :rotfl:

I am not sure what you are asking in your question.:confused3 Are you talking for real answers or are we making this up?

I think the funniest question I see asked is where do I buy the ticket that takes me to the front of all the lines and how much does that cost?
I haven't come up with a good fast come back for that one!

Well, gee Kim: that's hardly a bad answer...

:)

Jud you and I were posting at the same time. I was answering my QOD and you were asking another QOD! I didn't see your post until after I hit "Submit Reply"!:rotfl:

Hey Glo!!!

I know the Square One Mall! Used to live over on 1A! The little gray box just up from the Fire Department at the edge of the wetlands! A few blocks south of Kellys! Yum!

I did a Disney thing at the Mall long ago! They were recruiting for weekend help for their presentation of The Hunchback of Notra Dame! I was 'hired'! Still have my lanyard and that is where I learned the "Disney point"! They had a real animator there and I was crowd control for his presentation so got to watch him work and it is a marvelous thing!

Just realized- no pictures! Wow...

:)

Ah! Well you can see how I missed that! hehehehee...

I went a year without an AP in 05-06, and still spent a lot of time at Disney! In fact, I recommend it! Forces one to find out what is there! And there is a lot!

Resort tours are the first thing one might think of, but I also spent an afternoon lying on the beach at Ft Wilderness after taking the boat over from Wilderness Lodge. Saw some peacocks that were a bit scary! Noisy things! And don't like to share the path if they are on it!

Have also gone to the beach at the Poly to watch the MK Fireworks and on one of the bridges at the Epcot Resorts to watch Illuminations.

And have sat on the beach and at the campground for movies!

The first "return" year, after having been away since the 70's, I was there in January, and on one day tickets, so after the parks closed, I would go do one of the many dinner theaters in the area. Arabian Knights was by far the finest- and still is, though none of them are what they were back then.

And most recently, after leaving the park at closing, I hit the pool at Y&BC! And did the slide! And the whirlpool and the sinking sand! I think if I were staying on prop and was out of the parks, it would be the pool for me in most cases!

:)

Hi Marshay, forgive my ignorance but what is 1BR at BCV....?

Glad you found the HM. Donna explains below...

1 BR at BCV = one bedroom at Beach Club Villas. :goodvibes

Thanks Donna!

Jonas, DisJPK is our person of the day today (Friday). :yay:

Introduce your family, your likes, dislikes, jobs, or whatever you want to talk about. Then we can all ask you a few questions and you can spend the day answering us.

Thank you for welcoming me to the party.

I'm dad to two boys, a just-about-to-be-four-year-old and a two-and-a-half-year-old. Today was a busy day, and I just returned from volunteer work at their school, where I spent the day painting, raking, and cleaning toys. I'm returning to the school tomorrow to do another round of odd jobs.

I grew up in nyc and returned there to live after school. My family recently moved from nyc to the suburbs. The move has been wonderful, but it has been a slight adjustment as I've had to learn to drive again. I didn't drive in nyc, and I hadn't been behind the wheel since the two months I drove in college.

Disney has always been a part of my life, and I fell in love with the Disney Parks early. I don't remember my first trip as a one-year-old, but I vividly remember the wonder I felt returning to Disney as a six-year-old, especially at the family dinner at the Polynesian Luau. Unfortunately, that was my last family Disney trip as a youngster. My passion for Disney didn't subside, however, and I was able to arrange to take two trips to Disney with friends when I was in college.

My family and kids love Disney, and we have made a number of trips, most recently as DVC members. We spent my youngest son's first birthday on a Disney cruise. I turned myself into a runner not too long ago just so I could run in last-years Disney half-marathon. We're returning to Disney for this year's half-marathon, but this time we are bringing my parents and the in-laws to join us (not in the marathon). We'll be staying at the AKL.

Also - a special thank you to DisBoarders who sent me private messages about making it to round 3. I can't private message reply until I have a few more posts, but I want to let you know that I got them. I appreciate you taking time to send me a good word.

I'm unable to spend too much time on the boards now as my eldest is fighting a pretty bad cold, so I'm going to sign off for now and give him some TLC. Our personalized Disney maps for our upcoming trip arrived today, so that should make him feel better.

Speak to you soon,

Jonas
