Second..I would not ship that to Canada...no way to track it without expensive shipping.

I also had 4 packages take over a month to get there (sent Air Letter Post) so I'm a little down on Canada shippings and think I may remove it from my auctions.

I actually did do the second chance with it already and that person never responded to it.. The second chance closed with no buyer.. It wouldnt let me relist and I assume thats because I had chose to do the second chance.. so the only option was to list it again.. I put it back up on Wednesday and now going thru the whole process again.. Its very frustrating that people bid on stuff and have no intentions of paying which was obvious when this person never contacted me at all and would not respond to anything.. Im already going thru ebay to get the FVF credited back.

I went ahead and emailed the person in Canada back and adv that I would not send to Canada.. I am now over 10 feedbacks and all positive, so hoping to get someone that will come thru this time.. So far everyone else that I have sold to has been great..

No, it should have let you relist it..the second chance offer shouldn't have stopped you. I relist even after I sell to the second chance person (I have multiples).

I actually send a second chance as far down the price as I am willing to take. You can keep sendign them.

Hope it works out better for you. Now that you take Paypal, you might even get someone on this list bidding on it.

In my auctions I state that the buyer has 3 days to contact me and 10 days to pay. I just had a buyer that I had to do a reminder invoice, then they waited until the very last day to pay me with PayPal. Their previous feedback states great communication and fast pay. Of course I am going to give positive feedback, but what can I say for my comment?

OK, so now I have learned that selling on ebay is an ongoing process. And after listing several more items last week, about half of them sold (yippee - our Disney trip fund is slowly growing!).

All the winners have contacted me except for one person. The auction ended last Sunday night and I sent the usual notification e-mail. No response. So I sent the reminder after 3 days. Still no answer. I was raised to give everyone the "benefit of the doubt," but just how long do you all wait before you report non-paying bidders? I know that there could be circumstances that prevent this person from contacting me. How many times do you try to make contact? The bid history shows that the winner waited until the very end and out-bid the other person, so he/she must have wanted the item.

Which brings me to my second question. If I don't hear from the winning bidder, I know I can offer the item to the other person, but can I offer it at the winning bid price, or do I have to accept what the other person bid? (hope that question made sense!)

As you can see from my number of posts, I don't post often, but I do read a lot, and the info I've gotten from here has helped me tremendously. I'd appreciate any advice you can give.

Thanks.
Delaney

Well, considering that some buyers take almost a month to pay, 10 days is within the realm to pay. Some people just pay on the 10th day.

As for the comments, I would say something like smooth transaction or something like that.

I know that somewhere in the early part of this thread there was talk about having 2 PayPal accounts and receiving non-Credit Card payments into one & CC payments into the other one. Could someone explain how I would do this? I have another checking account & email address, I am just confused on how I set this up through Turbo Tax or how I would let my buyers know which one to use. I've been having pretty good sales, but I keep seeing my "room & ticket" money going for fees! Thanks! Sandy

I also give the benefit of the doubt, but probably to an extreme. I sold a pair of books in very early December. After several strange questions from the buyer like "How do I pay you?"..... it very clearly states that I accept personal checks, m.o. and Paypal........and "What is paypal?".....if you don't know, then don't try to pay me that way!..............
ANYHOW, I waited until after Christmas for my payment, very patiently. I got a few excuses ("I thought my wife mailed the check", etc) and I FINALLY filed a NPB on January 14!!! I have heard nothing from the buyer since then. HOpefully I will be receiving back my fees from Ebay soon. I just returned from a trip last night and haven't had time to check my ebay email yet.... had to go see my friends at the Disboards first!!..............P

I'm not sure what you mean about the Turbo Tax reference???? You would set it up through Paypal. I assume you just have TT on your mind this time of year.

Just open a new account through your different email address, using a different checking account. I also used a different credit card..in case I want to use it to buy.

When I want someone to pay through my non cc account, I often suggest a choice when sending my end of auction note (I send my own) saying for instance, if you are using a credit card, please use this accoutn, if paying with cash from your account, please use this account..although lately, they have been paying before I get a chance to send it out...but I don't really mind..just another cost of doing business.

LOL Doris You are absolutely right! I actually meant Turbo LISTER Not Turbo Tax, yeah my mind is on tax season right now! LOL ok, Its been so long since I set my PayPal acct up I can't remember - How long does it take before I can use it to accept payments? I have about 9 auctions ending today that will sell & I was wondering if I could use a new PayPal acct (set up this morning) to avoid all the extra fees? Did that make sense? I hope so, I need more coffee! Thanks, Sandy

To the last post:
Ebay is great. I'm an Ebay seller, and list 20-30 items a week. Always remember, the winning bid means NOTHING until you actually have the payment. I have had more deadbeat bidders this past month than ever. They bid your item way up there then disappear into cyberworld.
Also be cautious of BUYING DisneyWorld stuff there. After our last trip, I regretted not having spent the $2.99 for a MouseEars antenna ball. I went to Ebay to get one for a buck or two, and found sellers selling them for 10-15 dollars each!!!{plus shipping} (And they actually had bids!!!) I'm talking about the same simple black ears that are $2.99-$3.15 all over WDW. I decided to wait and get them on my next trip. Besides, it will mean more that way.
They also sell a LOT of the food vouchers on Ebay. I found a very good article on one of the other off-Disney sites about the vouchers, and decided it wasn't for me. They sell partially used disney tickets there as well, and they very often sell for more than what they do at the entrance (or more oftenly, more than they do on the website; which is a bit cheaper) and there's no REAL guarantee that they actually have days left!!!
Though I'm sure most do, there's still that small risk of fraud.
As far as selling, the right items can go wild, and YES, that's a VERY good way to make some extra Disney dollars!!! I'm a firm believer in Ebay and always offer this simple advice to anyone getting started in Ebay, NOT ONLY check the bidder/sellers feedback, but check their FEEDBACK LEFT FOR OTHERS. That's the real test of their character, and if a bidder of your item often leaves negative feedback in their buying transactions, don't be scared to retract their bid and block them from future buying. You may regret it later if you DONT! :earsboy:

You should be able to get moving quite quickly with the 2nd paypal account.

I have a 2nd account (Completely Free type) at my bank and a debit card on that account. It may take you a bit to become verified, but you should be able to get payments very quickly.

My auctions nearly ALWAYS pay thru the fee account - only one that hasn't is the books I sent last week - he was corresponding back and forth with me and I reminded of the two payment methods and he paid via avail funds! Yeah!.

However, when I am swapping stuff on mycoupons or somewhere, I always use the 'free' paypal account. I don't want to pay a fee for a $1 sale!

kind of off topic- not ebay

I want to send some expired coupons to military- I guess they would be afo or apo or whatever addresses. What is the cheapest way to send something like this? I have about a small shoebox full. Do I split them and mail them out for regular postage in envelopes, or mail the whol box at once?

I know this is a dumb ?, but I hardly ever ship, and the few times I do, it is always another surprise at the post office:rolleyes:

I'll respond and then I have a question for you guys.....

I would suggest trying PM flat rate option. You can fit a ton of stuff in a flat rate envelope. APO/FPO should be the same rate as US. If you do a regular box, you will go by weight and it may come out ok - I'm not sure. I would weigh and check both options. A FR will hold a ton but not a shoebox full!

Now my question:

RE: Beanie Babies

Anyone have any current sites to determine value of beanies? I know that a lot of them aren't even bringing $1 on eBay, but there are a ton that still have higher values it appears. I used to know all about the generations, etc, but anymore I am clueless. At one point there was an excellent site that was very informative - unfortunately I have no link to it anymore. I believe it was run by a mom. The Ty site doesn't seem to have (unless I haven't dug deep enough) the details on Tags etc.

I have a book that talks about the TY tags. If you would like to have it PM me. I just ask that you pay the shipping. The book is yours free.

Been busy since Friday working out the details of our (DD & I) trip to Nashville in May - and doing the dreaded "tax" preparation..

I've been registered to sell on eBay since mid-March of last year.. In tallying up all that has come in and gone out I found that the largest portion of money going out was postage - WAY up there - but of course, that's not out of my pocket, but I thought it was interesting as to just how MUCH went out..

Next was the eBay fees.. A good chunk..

And the least (and honestly it was quite a surprise to me) was the Paypal fees - worth every penny to have access to the money right away..

Also had a nice little chunk back from Paypal by using the cash-back feature with charging all the postage..

I'm not going to give a "dollar" figure here, but let's just say I could have had 10 garage sales in the past 9 months and not made nearly as much as I did with the ebay sales..;)

Shipping supplies were minimal - thanks to friends (one on this board ;) ) and relatives.. Now if I could just get past my obssession with using a roll of tape per package, that would be even MORE money in my pocket - LOL... :teeth:

I'm still waiting on one 1099 before I can file and I wish it would get here already.. I like to get this tax stuff over as quickly as possible - before the government runs out of money - LOL..:teeth:

OK, this has never happened to me before. I just got an email from a person that won one of my auctions today. He says that he couldn't wait for the auction to end & bought another widget. Now he wants to pay me for mine, but he doesn't want it. What should I do? It is only a $9.99 object. Suggestions Please & also how to word it back to him (whatever your suggestion is) Thanks, Sandy

The exact same thing happened to me - before Christmas.. (It was also a "man").. I emailed him back (ironically it was also the same amount of money that you're talking about) and told him I couldn't possibly accept it.. Thought that was the end of it, and then a few weeks ago I got a fancy imprinted "Thank You" card from him - and a CHECK for $9.99.. Wonder if it's the same guy?

That is what I was thinking, that I couldn't take it, but then again, I don't want to be out my listing fees & my FVF on it, I know it isn't much, but when it comes to earning $ for my Disney trip, it all adds up! LOL This man said it was for a project and he just couldn't wait for the auction to end. Did your person say something similar?

No - nothing about a "project" - but you know what? I'll bet if you told him you didn't feel right about accepting the entire amount, but you would appreciate just the listing fee and FVF, he would probably send you that with no problem..;)
