Whew! I caught up on the thread!
Hello to all the new people out there! I have been here only for about 3 weeks, but I don't feel new anymore so you'll feel right at home in no time. This is a truly awesome and supportive group.
Christa - I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. Sending prayers and pixie dust your way. Hang in there and have faith!
Well, I did it - I have run/walked 3 times a week for the last 3 weeks and been 100% consistent! I have never ever done that before in my life. I always talk myself out of it and miss a few workouts. It helps that I have been healthy, and that Philadelphia seems to have cancelled winter and settled for 3 months of November! However, I also feel certain that when I have a setback (and I'm sure one will come along sooner or later), that I have the commitment and support to carry me through.
I am following the Running for Mortals run/walk 5K plan, and it is working great for me! That is a great book, and if you are just starting out I suggest picking that up in addition to Marathoning for Mortals. After this week I am going to add once a week cross-training (probably elliptical, although I am looking for a yoga class that works in my schedule), and then after few weeks of being consistent with that I will add a second day of cross-training. Doing it slowly is the key for me. I am always excited to start things, but have to work on consistency.
Now I am looking for a nice 5K in Philly in late March/early April. Anyone have any suggestions?

Being new to the Wish Team, I have a question for those of you that have been training longer. I regularly walk 4 miles in 1 hr and would like to kick it up a notch so I can do the Minnie 15K a little faster. I think each time I try to add running to my plan,in a walk/run workout, I must add on too fast and then I go back to walking because my hip starts hurting. Does the Running for Mortals book have plans for all levels?
I had thought about doing the Maui half this year, but think I may have to wait until 09 for that one.

That's what i love about training for an event such as this....it allows us to redefine ourselves. Love that!!!
Nice to "see" you!!!
I'm always up for reading lists, regardless of the topics. The Interlibrary Loan folks know me very, very well. About intervals: the more people who post, the more I wonder about full-time running. I'm going to stick with it for while, but try not to be wedded to it. It certainly sounds like a smart strategy for you, given what your PA says.

), I wouldn't move off the couch. Seriously!
