Count us in for at least 100. We will be buying probably 75 or so points for Hawaii and want to stay at under 400 total which leaves me in a quandry as we already have 300 points. After a family vote I made a call to TTS and put our two 50 pt VWL up for sale :cool1:

Okay, I have questions. We have ownership in SSR. We bought 3 years ago. And we only have one regret, not buying more points! So we've been thinking about adding on. Here are my questions:

1. What is the minimum pts purchase for an add-on?
2. Is that only with your home resort or any DVC?
3. If we can do say a 50pt add on at another DVC resort would that also become a "home" resort?
4. Would we be buying in under our orginal contract/fees/point value or would it be a whole new contract with a new use year/fees/point values?
5. What is GCV?

I believe I have figured out some of the answers based on all the post, but I thought I'd ask for clarification anyways. Sorry these may seem like mundane questions, but I'm in the need to know! :confused3

Thank you!

Minimum Purchase is 25 points through Disney for cash, 50 to finance
Once you are a member you can buy any resort through Disney for the minimum number of points (if Disney has them available)
If you add on 50 points at another resort that would also be ahome resort HOWEVER the 11 month window only alpplies to the points at THAT resort..so if you bought 50 at KTR you could only use those 50 at 11 months out
GCV is the Grand Californian Villas being built at Disneyland Resort

1. What is the minimum pts purchase for an add-on?
25 if paying cash, 50 if financing
2. Is that only with your home resort or any DVC?
Add ons are per contract and can be for any resort
3. If we can do say a 50pt add on at another DVC resort would that also become a "home" resort?
It would be the 'home' resort for only those 50pts. If using your existing points, you would have to wait until the 7 mo mark to book at the new resort

4. Would we be buying in under our orginal contract/fees/point value or would it be a whole new contract with a new use year/fees/point values?
If buying through disney, they just add on to your existing contract under your same UY. (example contract 12345.01, .02, ect for each add on. If buying via resale, it is more complicated

5. What is GCV?

Grand Califorina Villas. New DVC at Disneyland. Due to open in '09. Haven't started selling yet

1. 25 pts if you buy cash, 50 pts if you finance thru Disney.

2. No, with any DVC resort.

3. It makes it your home resort for ONLY those add-on points. If you bought 50 pts at KTR, you can book using those 50 pts at the at 11 mos. If you need more points, you'll have to get them from the KTR contract. If you want to use them to book at SSR, you'll have to wait until the 7 month window opens. Vice versa for SSR points.

4. It's the same use year but with maintenance fees for the resort where those points reside. Point values are designated for each resort. KTR will probably require more points per night for all rooms as compared to SSR.

5. Grand Californian Villas - the DVC they're building in DisneyLand as an add-on to the Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim.

I think it's more interesting that over 1/2 of the members plan to add on here. Equating that to a 100,000 plus family club-I dont think there is going to be enough points.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the response here has been better than AKV got in straw polls. And AKV is nearly sold out in Jambo House already.

I expect CRV/KTR will sell out in record time. That's why I'm pulling for an '09 sale date. Gives me more time to save enough for it.

Thank you Everyone! :thumbsup2 :thanks:

Okay, so now it make sense why someone would want to plan how many points to add on based on how many days they wish to stay at that given resort!

Okay, I'm ready for some planning! We've been working on how many points to buy and we want to pay cash. We did this for our buy in at SSR and found it to be a much better plan. We pay our maintaince fees once a year, so we don't have to think about monthly payments or any of that mess! Makes planning a vacation pure bliss! :cloud9:

So where to buy in at?????:beach:

Put us down for 145. Give us an even 500 and we will have points near everything: SSR-DTD, BWV-EP and DHS, AK-AK, and KT-MK.

I am also for the 2009 sales. :thumbsup2

I think you are correct. I dont remember any planned resort polling over 50% of members (on this board anyway) planning to add on. I also think there will be more "non DVC owners" interested in KT than any resort planned so far-simply because most first time visitors to WDW go to the MK as the main attraction, and will see this from the main gate and likely look into it.

It'll certainly be more high profile than the others. I remember it was a while before I even realized half of Boardwalk was a timeshare. In fact, I don't think I even realized it was one hotel complex. The building faces look so different from the outside (by design).

I knew there was a DVC somewhere (OKW) but it was described as somewhere off on the corner of the property. I didn't even see it firsthand before I owned and stayed at SSR. And SSR was just a building across the water with a sign and vantage point in DTD Marketplace.

KTR is like a giant neon sign for DVC. Better than the billboards.

I find the more I read these boards the less bizarre people seem. Usually there's a well thought out reason behind the madness.

We'd like more points, but it looks like we're buying 50 pts... to start.... Of course we still have to buy our tiny resale to be members, but that's coming up soon... right honey?? :love2:
50 will (hopefully) get us a couple days every few years at KT

Well ........ you can probably count us in for a small add-on too! :thumbsup2
We just added pts at SSR, but figure we'll want enough pts at KTV for (hopefully) a Sun-Thurs with a MK view every 3 yrs. Based on initial estimates, this would be somewhere in the 50-75 pt range  But, like everyone else, we'll be crunching the numbers to see what works for us! :teacher:

We stayed at CR last year with a MK view & it was :cloud9: !!! I could lay in my bed & see the castle! Nothing like it ...... :lovestruc

So far, we haven't had any trouble booking exactly what we want at the 7 mo. window, but we'd still LOVE to own next door to the castle!!!

Only existing owners even get the opportunity to buy? Could this thing actually "sell out" before sales hit the general public?

I really have no idea the total # of points that would be available to purchase (or how to figure that out). I know I have a .09??? ownership interest of just one building at AKV with 160 points so there must be hundreds of thousands of points available there but KTR is much smaller.

Wow, 50% of the people posting here want in and we're just a small fraction of a DVC owners!

While I think that it is great news about KTV I don't see us adding on any points there. We are happy owners who will likely add on more AKV points. If we were going to add on anywhere else it would most likely be OKW.

I do hope to stay at KTV someday, though. Congrats to all who have been waiting for this one!

I have $$ set aside for 100 points. Even if it's named something stupid.
