Ducks in pools

Just random question. For giggles. If the same person pooped in the pool everyday that required a period of shutdown for a scoop and bio bag removal followed by chlorine contact for 30 min... Honestly, would you still say it’s okay for them to return everyday?

Its pretty clear you've never been to a public pool... especially one with little kids.
And little swimmer diapers don't always work.

Well, it’s been 5 days and for 3 of them at two different resorts the ducks are allowed in the pools. It’s ignored. Then, they poop in the pool and we all have to vacate because of swimming with duck poop and the diseases they carry. Can they just be shoo’d off for heavens sake. It’s disgusting to swim with them.
A large portion of Disney is a protected wildlife area and so the animals & birds & reptiles are protected. Disney has always allowed the birds & ducks in the parks, hotels and even the pools. They tell guests not to feed them or engage with them so they might move on, but overall they seem to protect them.

In my thought process it is no different than swimming at the beach among all the fish and sea critters. But I get that it is a pool and that it is expected to be void of wildlife. BUT I think most "readings" you'll find do say that ducks in the pools are generally "allowed" by Disney and left alone. Yes a life guard might shoo them off (without violating their protective rights) but I think we all know they'll likely come right back so .... they likely don't bother.

I personally don't like "public" pools because of the humans leaving behind genetic material, at least I can see if the duck does poo and move away. And I'm more bothered by how clean or not the ride vehicles and other park seats/rails/handles are.

As to the human you speak of that is the daily pool poo-er, no they should not be allowed back because they know better, because they can read the signs and because they are not a protected species per se, and are visiting. Ducks live there. Ducks are doing what ducks do. Ducks are protected.

There is lots to get upset about at Disney ~ don't think this is one of them. If you must be evacuated from the pool to skim and shock it ... just get a snack, eat a meal, take a nap, explore the resort, join an activity elsewhere .... or go to a different pool as I think the resorts all have more than one. 💦💦

You're right, they should build a giant dome that encompasses the entire resort. That'll do the trick.

Who’s making you vacate the pool because of the ducks? I’ve never heard reports of that nor experienced it myself.
Yes, they do this. Not at the quiet pools when there is no lifeguard on duty but at the feature pools, they'll shut them down.

Okay 🤷‍♂️swim with duck ****
For de record. Yes… I’ve been in kids sports and competitive outdoors and indoors from 6 and up to junior olympics including WP. I was an Aquatics director at a college for a couple of years with an outdoor and indoor pool. I have my bio degree, and aquatics expertise. I have three kids with “experience as watching my kids hop in a pool” whatever that means. Whole family has dive certs in just about everything including expert, rescue, and dive master. Doing research and rescue dives in the upper Midwest. And for an occupation build water and wastewater treatment plants for small communities and very large municipalities for over 30 years. So yah… I may know a thing about bacteria and viruses. Wanna swim in duck poop and turn a blind okay. But they swim in the waste water plants raw poop tanks… yes… they do. They eat the corn you don’t fully digest. Then, they swim back from the WDW WWTP and swim in your pool with all that plant poop on their sweet and kind little feathers. They are water rats. Nothing more

You laugh. Have friends that are CMs and I can't tell you how many times guests come up to them (mostly at MK) and complain that Disney had not activated the dome so the rain won't ruin their day. They are dead serious! Another reason why I can't work at Disney, my answer would get me pink slipped.

Never seen this in probably 100 trips since 1992. I’ve seen it because of human waste in the pool. Never from ducks.
Yeah, we've had well over 140 stays and never seen this.

Once at CSR there was a raccoon hanging at the main pool. He was going through the trash, under the tables, wandering in broad daylight. Usually not a good sign. I went to life guards and others ~ NO ONE did anything but shrug. I didn't care except for my concern it might be sick and hurt someone. So we just moved to other side of the pool.

Even if they somehow magically kept the ducks out of resort pools, they are still letting small petri dishes with legs into them, and you don't want to know where they've been, what they've been putting in their mouths, what comes out at the other end, and what they've been doing in general.

I really don't mean to be rude but if this genuinely bothers you this much, you would probably be better off not ever getting into a public pool, ever. Or just going to Florida. You probably sit in worse on the plane ride down, unless you're getting on it like Detective Adrian Monk.
