Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Is there a certain picture that makes you think that?
Yes! The 7th picture, looking over the lazy river, toward the windmill, with Hurricane Hanna's on the right. If you zoom all the way in, it says "3 FT .9 M" on the side. And the staircase measurement is partially obscured, but indicates 3' and change. I probably sound like a lunatic but this is (was) the nice, deep part of the river?
Not from what I saw in person last month. It did not look like any changes to the pool interior to me. The rehab looks like they did repairs to the piping, concrete and I am hoping but did not see repairs to the slide.
Thank you so much; keeping my fingers crossed!

ETA: We will be in WDW in early September and are deciding between YC (where we usually stay) and Grand Floridian (which we thought could nice just for a change, but don't love that the lobby will likely be under construction, and Polynesian has no rooms on sale for our dates). I don't know that this change to SAB would be a dealbreaker, as the main selling point of YC for us is the walkability to 2 parks, among its many bright spots. But it would be a slight bummer, for the adults in my party and my swimming 10yo.

I don't think they've made any changes to the lazy river or the overall design of the pool. The 7th picture you're referencing (if I understand correctly) is part of the pool that we usually refer to as the kids' sand pool, which extends over towards the cabanas. You can't actually see the lazy river portion from that photo. It's beyond those steps and beyond HH.

I was just doing a photo deep dive to say the same thing. That’s the part connected to the kids sand castle area. The lazy river can barely been seen in the distance surrounded by fences … probably because it’s still pretty deep.

does anyone know if pool maintenance is ever completed early? Hoping it’s open early June for our trip🤞🏼

There has never been this extensive rehab of SAB so there’s nothing to compare completion to. The timeline was extended from end of May to end of June. At this point, it’s probably best to take management at their word & count on an end of June reopening.

Looking at booking a room at YC for 2 adults and DD 13. It says you could get king bed and day bed as possibility, which DD would not like. Is there any way to guarantee two queens? TIA!

Only way to guarantee that is to book for 4 but you will* incur the cost of the 4th person in the room.

Personally I would just make it a request (the only request), there aren’t that many King rooms anyway.

*add the 4th as a kid and the extra person fee won't apply

I thought that if you were within the room capacity, there would only be an extra charge if you have more than 2 adults. I thought the room cost for 2 adults and 2 kids would be the same as the cost for 2 adults and 1 kid.

You are correct. In most cases WDW considers 10+ as an adult, like tickets, dining, etc. But for resorts it's 18+.

Sand Poured Into Stormalong Bay Pool During Refurbishment at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Crew members are pouring sand into the Stormalong Bay pool and replacing siding on Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

Construction workers building a waterslide with rocks, plants, and a cement truck at a work site.

Cement work continues around the edge of the pool. A concrete mixer was parked next to the waterslide. As we previously reported, much of the pool patio and surrounding sidewalks were torn up to be replaced. Crews also removed concrete from the pool floor.

Some patches on the ground have new rebar frameworks. Crews were actively working on one such area near a railing, chipping away at some concrete.

Dozens of bags of sand are stacked in and around one side of the pool.

Crews have started pouring sand into the other side of the pool. A layer of sand is standard at the bottom of a pool, between the ground and the pool’s floor.

The layer of sand helps make a smooth surface, which is more comfortable underfoot, plus improves drainage and protects the bottom of the pool.

A crew member was also working on a water tank. Pipes spread out from the tank across the sand surface.

"A layer of sand is standard at the bottom of a pool, between the ground and the pool’s floor."

I understand that as this is not the sand for the sand bottom part of the pool but sand for construction of the pool.

Do you happen to know if this work is going to slowly move around the whole hotel or are they possibly just working on this area since it is a big mess anyway?

Sorry I missed this from a few days ago.

With a big "who knows" caveat, they did a long YC exterior project just a few years ago around most if not all of the areas other than what you see in the recent photos. I would like to think this section may be it, but I'm speculating/assuming. Florida weather does a number on the exterior finishes of both YC and BC so hard to tell just what all may be needed when, unfortunately.

Thank you! My memory is fading, but I was thinking a more or less recent exterior refresh had happened.
We plan to arrive at YC in early July. So, just maybe all the mess will be cleared out.
