Where CAN You Wear A Hat?

OMG, I almost fell out of my chair! This struck me as about the funniest thing I've heard in a while! It has to be a sarcastic NJ thing!

Besides wearing my hat, I also pick my teeth, burp and make other rude noises while at the dinner table! (I guess that's what everyone thinks of me, once they see the hat) :rotfl:

Someone from NJ being sarcastic.....surely you jest!:rolleyes1 :lmao: (Shhhh...don't tell anybody but it's in the water.)

Not only do I do that, but then I club my wife over the head and drag her out by the hair going..."Ugh! Me done now. Me take wife back to cave...fling poo at wall....call it art. UGH!"

If so many people get torked about regular hats, my god I must have given the Hat Police a heart attack wearing this...

Some of the signature restaurants have a "dress code" that says no hats for men, but the "codes" are notoriously not enforced.

Other than that I can't think of a place where they say no hats.

If you have a honkin big hat you should probably take it off in shows unless you are sitting in the last row.

I don't know about anyone else, but I haven't laughed this hard at a thread in a long time.:lmao:

Oh, I can see it now. Coming soon to a Disney Resort TV near you....

This is a public service message brought to you by the WDW Hat Police.

[Stacy appears on the screen standing in a WDW restaurant, flashing a big ol' smile.]
Stacy: Are you tired of being called a disrespectful, classless slob?
[Camera pans over to a family eating, where the father is slouched over the table, a smoked turkey leg in each hand, gnawing away. Of course he is also wearing a baseball cap.]
Father: [Quizzical look on his face, speaking in grunting tones.] Uh huh!
Stacy: Well then let me help! Do you know what's wrong with what you are wearing?
Father: [Now you can see him thinking this over for a minute, then he points at his sweaty tank top.] UGH!
Stacy: Nooooo....
Father: [Raises his arm and sniffs his armpit.] Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!
Stacy: [Laughing] No, you classless silly slob! It's that you're wearing a hat!
Father: [Slaps himself in the forehead.] Doh!
[Father then removes his cap and POOF, is magically transformed and is now sitting upright with a napkin tucked into his shirt, a knife and fork in his hands, the turkey legs are now on the plate.]
Father: Thanks Stacy! I never knew!
Stacy: Now you know, and knowing is half the battle! [She give a big smile and a thumbs up to the camera. Cue music.]

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Me, personally, I'm offended by all the bad BO in the parks. I mean it's like dude, you do know they came out with this great invention called deodorant?:crazy2:

I'm also scared of those clown shoe looking Crocs. Now these things really scare me. When I hear a family walking behind me wearing Crocs, it's like a horror movie! "Clop, clop, clop, clop......the clowns are coming for you!"
:lmao: :lmao: ;)

Question for the military folks. Do females have to remove their hats in the military?

According to DH, when he was in (1989-1995), yes.

And our hat rule for the kids, it applies to both the girls and boys. :) We are equal opportunity sticks in the mud. ;)

um, I have worn a hat in and on everything in WDW. In fact yesterday was a "say something" hat day. Did you wear your "say something" hat?

My sisters and I love that movie! I nearly screamed when I read this! In fact, I'm going to call one right now and tell her that tomorrow is definitely a "say something" hat day!!!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl:

I've worn a hat to Disney for years. Never had anyone say anything. I do take it off on rides where it's inadvisable to wear one, or if the light inside is dim enough that I can remove it. (I'm light sensitive, so rarely take it off even when I'm not at WDW.) I know people probably think it's rude or improper that I wear a baseball hat everywhere, but I'd rather not have my eyes hurting because it's too bright.

Bottom line: Who cares what others think? As long as you aren't wearing one during the National Anthem, it's none of my business.

We don't even wear hats, but I've always wondered, why is exactly is it considered rude and bad manners to wear a hat inside. Why would it be considered disrespectful. I mean a real reason of what exactly makes it rude and disrespectful, not just because some out dated etiquette book deemed it so. Also, for those who keep putting men opening doors in the same category as taking hats off inside, what does one have to do with the other. I have always found it polite to open the door for the people coming directly behind me, and I am a woman, it would be rude to let the door close on them. To me one has nothing to do with the other.

There was a recent thread about where you cannot wear a hat at WDW.I am still not clear about where you CAN wear a hat at WDW.Can you wear a hat on the Disney buses,on the Friendship Taxis,in the resort food courts,in the resort check-in areas,in indoor attractions like Spaceship Earth,in merchandise shops, etc. or are ALL indoor areas at WDW off-limits for hats? Thanks.

That thread was regarding proper etiquette regarding hats while dining.Mostly everybody wears a hat.Unless you are dining at a siganture restaurant.

my DH wears a hat every day. he does wear it indoors at certain places, but always removes it if he wants to show respect for the place/person (church, restaurants, being introduced to someone, etc).
:thumbsup2!!!!!!!!

I wear a hat outdoors almost all the time as my hairline has disappeared
Well, not really - the people walking behind you can still see it :umbrella:
The tradition of removing your hat is as a guest at someones's house, you are socializing, and removing your hat is only respectful.
Again, :thumbsup2!!!!!!!!

Water rides, roller coasters, sticky kids, hot days, sunburns, etc., etc., etc.
The primary purpose of a hat/head covering is to provide protection from the elements. Since there are no elements INSIDE a restaurant (and yes, that even includes the fake storm in Rainforest Cafe), etiquette supercedes protection.

DH and I wear hats for most of our trips in WDW except on nights when we have adr's for a special dinner. Then we are usually dressed a little nicer, and the hat wouldn't go anyway. But we have never taken our hats off for anything except maybe roller coasters.

Of course, you can pretty much wear a hat almost anywhere in disney.

I think there are a few restaurants with dress codes, but only the really fancy ones and it should be listed on disney's website.

I'd advise people not to wear hats on splash mountain though, one flew off a lady and hit my friend in the lip. It started bleeding and she didn't even apologize, and she saw I was mad. Just, thrill rides and hats are not a good mix. It can get lost or hurt someone.

Disney is not exactly known as a fashion capital. Where else is it appropriate to run around in crocs, fanny packs, and mouse ears? Because of this I would consider Disney hat rules different than rules in the real world. There's no need for men and women to remove their hat every time they enter a store or an attraction. I think people should remove them for meals at TS restaurants. But if someone is a hot sweaty mess from tromping around a theme park all day it might be best for them to just keep the hat on.

I think we can sum up a Disney etiquette hat rule by saying that hats are acceptable anywhere except at TS restaurants and blow-your-hat-off rides.

I was going to post the same question, I don't get it either.

This all just seems like silly, out dated, upper class, mumbo jumbo. Sorry if anyone feels my opinion to be inappropriate, I just don't see why it's a big deal.

Alot of upper class men's bathrooms even use to have jars of combs in barbicide for "gentlemen" to freshen-up before going out to the restaurant/bar.

What's the big deal?
