Where CAN You Wear A Hat?

Failure-to-Communicate.jpg

Do you extend common courtesy to all common strangers?

Yes! I will hold a door open for anyone, I will let the person in back of me with one item go ahead of me at the check out, if I see someone drop something I will pick it up and give it to them, if I bump into someone I say excuse me. I try to be nice and pleasant to everyone, no matter what they look like or how they speak, or what they wear.

Nice begets nice.

Exactly.:goodvibes

What is wrong with being better than someone else? Are you endorsing mediocrity for common courtesy?

I won't ever pretend to know how to distinquish anyone as better than someone else! It's ignorant and anyone who thinks they know this are kidding themselves and bordering on malicious, ill-conceived, self-righteous indignation.

If you desire to live outside the bounds of conventional etiquette, that’s fine. However, you will be offending some people by showing them disrespect and an obvious lack of self respect in the process.

Lack of self respect? That's laughable, if not complete and utter nonsense.

It’s one thing to show your contempt for common manners but it’s quite another situation to show your ignorance of common manners. Let me give you a specific example using the “Hats Shall Not Be Worn” mumbo jumbo.

Most men know to remove their hats when the National Anthem is played. Yet some men don’t seem to know that their hats should be removed with their right hand and that the hat should be placed at the left shoulder with the hand being over the heart.

Good grief, so NOW it's disrestful to remove your hat for the anthem IF you don't know that you are supposed to: 1. Remove it with the correct hand...... 2. Place it it the correct location....... and 3. Place your hand in the correct position...... ?

Can anyone say, I'm uptight?

If someone refuses to take off their hat when the National Anthem is played, that is their right. I support their right to protest and show their contempt for the USA.

Contempt, huh? What about those who don't understand, or know, the traditional etiquette? Way too judgemental.

On the other hand, when I see someone who removes and then fumbles around with their hat because they are unsure of proper etiquette, it simply reveals their poor upbringing and it makes them look foolish and uneducated in common custom.

LMAO...... what else can anyone say about that one?

Social graces and higher education often go hand in hand. I purposely avoid people with bad manners. I avoid uneducated and under educated people. I avoid people with tattoos and body piercings.

Appearance and perception play key roles in social interaction. I don’t want to deal with people that display their ignorance for all to see. Let their friends, family, social workers and therapists deal with their problems.

A word comes to mind to describe these types of judgements and unwillingness to accept people for who they are. I'll leave it at that, but maybe your higher education will afford you the knowledge to figure it out yourself.

I'm starting the countdown until this thread is locked.........I'm going in at 'locked by 12:30 Eastern Time'.

Also, I'm wearing my hat as I type this.

I can't, I work indoors in an office, not in a lobby of a public building, or a train station, or in a saloon.

Tee Hee!

As far as when it will get locked, I think we are maybe 3 posts away!

I'm at work right now, if I had a hat with me it would be front and center covering my cranium. C'est la vie!

Yeah, I think this one has run it's course. I'm still not convinced of the how and why it became disrespectful to wear a hat in some situations. Other than that, there really isn't anything further that needs to be said.

Women-folk should not wear hats anyhow----when I'm at the local saloon, there is nothing I hate more than seeing women-folk in hats. Women are for birthin' babies, not wearin' hats.

LMAO...... so much more could be added there, but unfortunately, some would not see the intended humor and attack me for my under-educated, lower class, disrespect.

Be sure to get at least one of those offensive, tattoos that are available at many places around Disney too. You know the ones...... that all the kids like to get, the temporary ones! LMAO

I'm not sure I'm such a great father any more either. I allowed my daughter to get one of the Mickey ones on our trip in Feb. In fact, how can Disney allow such an offensive activity to take place in the World?
