Where CAN You Wear A Hat?

Not sure about the greaseman, but I'll have a special-order viser hat that says "WDW Pool Hopper".

I'll be wearing my "Truckers do it on 18 wheels" hat.

Heck no don't lock the thread!! What's the harm in some well-worded verbal sparring? Neither combatant has "crossed the line" so to speak, and I have enjoyed the debate thoroughly. Good show. :thumbsup2

I agree. Even though last night I was thoroughly miffed, the debate has been good. You don't encounter this type of debate very often, where people don't resort to name calling.

Keep it open. See what happens. Who knows, we may get a new rule in place.

I guess I'm just getting old, but I miss civility and common courtesy.

I'm certainly not the most refined person in the world, but I've come to realize that some things were definitely better in the good old days. The use of manners and etiquette are long gone. It's all about "me-me-me" these days.

Society has certainly changed. And, IMHO, not for the better. It's very sad.
I find it rather curious that some people believe that hat etiquette is anachronistic or that they can pick and choose to observe only those portions that suit their own druthers.

I think you’re right. It exemplifies their own selfishness and unwillingness to pay homage to long standing cultural traditions. Proper hat etiquette is something they should have learned in their youth. I attribute the failing to inadequate education in many cases.

Forbid that instead of learning hat etiquette our parents and teacher's actually teach us something useful. Not how many seconds a man has to retrieve his hat from his head before his societal image is forever tarnished.

......i finally read most of these posts on here, but I'm a little lost on the etiquette in removing your hat---do you remove your hat with your left hand or right hand? If so, can you still pick your nose with the same hand that you remove your hat with? Would that be frowned upon?

I really want to learn this for my upcoming trip this Sunday.

Man, this thread is really bizarre!

The next thing you know they'll be telling us we can't reuse our resort mugs from year-to-year and that Disney will stop letting us pool hop!

I guess it's food for thought when I park at CR and walk into MK.

This thread was tldr, but has anyone figured out if it's OK for women to wear white at WDW after Labor Day? if we're invoking old hat rules, we might as well dredge that one up as well.

Of course! As long as it is winter white.

I don't sweat the small stuff. I couldn't care less if someone wears a hat indoors. I think the fact that people got riled up about this means that we've hit a new low on this board, IMHO.

To me, as long as you don't cut in line, knock down the elderly and kids, run over my feet with a stroller or an ECV, forget to leave the hotel without deodorant on, or swear loudly in public, you're alright in my book.:thumbsup2

Women-folk should not wear hats anyhow----when I'm at the local saloon, there is nothing I hate more than seeing women-folk in hats. Women are for birthin' babies, not wearin' hats.
Even worse when we women folk wear a hat WHILE birthin' a baby...:lmao: :goodvibes

While we're on the hat subject, my sister got married in England, and DW was required to wear a hat in the church. What's the deal with that? It was a wedding for pete's sake, not the Kentucky Derby!

If it is a large brimmed hat, or a tall hat, it would be a courtesy to others to remove it for theater shows, so those behind you could see better. :)

Most folks don't remove their baseball cap type hats anywhere, except on attractions where wind may be a concern. Oh, and it is a good idea to remove it for the TTA (Peoplemover). The elevated track, though a slow ride, can be windy.

My husband wears a hat and has never been told to take it off. On his own, he does remove his hat when going into Table Service.

Agreed.

A school for up-tight wannabees doesn't seem so desirable, unless you're an up-tight wannabe.

I removed my hat before typing that last sentence.

"I removed my hat before typing that last sentence."

:lmao:
