My sons aren't too into characters but I try to have them meet one or two every trip. They're both very shy, though. And during our meet with Ariel last year, they both just stared. This time, we're scheduled to meet Tink and I thought maybe some of you would have a tip or two on some specific questions to ask that would help the conversation get started? Thanks!

Maybe ask them who they would like to meet? Why would you make them go see characters if they don't like them?

I asked her if she had made anything lately since she was a Tinker Fairy and she told me she made a boat. So maybe something like that would work for your boys.

Then she asked me what type of fairy I was and I told her I was a Tinker Fairy too and showed her the necklace and earrings I was wearing that I had made.

Last time we hadnt planned it but my son bought a pirate hat in the parks, this made for some great interaction, since tink does NOT like pirates!

lol just remembering some good memories...When we were there my older DS also asked where Periwinkle was, but then we got into this whole lengthy conversation with her regarding pirates and captain hook and Wendy...if you bring up Wendy she gets mad, its super funny! My son thought it was 1 of the greatest meet and greets ever!

My daughter has always brought gifts for the characters she looks forward to meeting. Most of the times she colors them pictures or makes them cards...it really changes the interaction. This was from a trip back in January of 2014.

if you all ever decide to meet Ariel again- give her one of the cheap black plastic forks from one of the CS places.....she will be very excited

When we met Tink last month, DS4 was holding a small dinosaur and it made for a very fun interaction- she asked him what it was and then started asking him all sorts of questions about "this thing you call a dinosaur"

I love seeing tink! Our best time with her was when my oldest dd was 5, we were eating dinner at gastons tavern and she lost a tooth. She got a little upset thinking the tooth fairy wouldn't be able to find her since we were at a hotel.

We went to see tink and told her what happened. Fortunately the tooth fairy is a close friend of tinks so she got a message to her for us. She also let the tooth fairy know that my dd was a good friend of tinks so she would leave something special.

The next morning when dd woke up there was not only a quarter but also a whole handful of chocolate coins that look just like the ones they sell in the hotel gift shop lol. Oh the magic was real and alive that morning, it was awesome!

On our cruise last year, my son didn't want to meet Tinkerbell at all. So, I went by myself while he waited just within eyesight. When it was my turn, I pointed him out to Tink and told her, he was trying to grow up. She went right over to him, talked with him for a minute and brought him over to take pictures. He was very smiley. Still won't tell me what she said!

Such a good idea! My daughter is so excited but so nervous to meet characters. I think drawing them a picture might really help break the ice.
