What are my chances for wait list?

I called today to see if there was availability for a studio January 9th with check out on the 14th. None of the DVC resorts has January 9th available because of the marathon ( I am guessing).

If I waitlist for the 9th what are my chances of getting the studio? MS couldn't help me with waitlist chances. They said they don't know how many people are waitlisted for that day and there is no way they can check.

This ressie is for some friends of ours and I don't want them to have to move around, etc.

I am assuming the waitlist might not come through because we are 2 months away and it is the marathon weekend. Any insight? I have never had to waitlist before.

DVC members have to cancel at least 31 days ahead of arrival to avoid having points go into the Holding Account. Thus, your best chance of getting the waitlist will be about that time.

I have no idea if chances are bewteen 50/50 and pretty good if you are waitlisted for all the WDW DVC resorts. Be sure to call back at the 31 day mark and tell MS that you still want to be on the waitlist(s) -assuming you do.

If it were me, I'd make a cash reservation somewhere now to have as a back up and hope to get lucky. Be sure the cash ressie is one that could be cancelled up to 5 days before arrival without penalty.

At 7 days, all waitlists expire. At that point, I'd just resign myself to needing the back up cash ressie.

We called last week to add on two nights at BWV for a one bedroom Dec 9-11. We already had Dec 2-9. Got the call yesterday that our one bedroom came through. I'm all excited cause this saves us from checking in/out with a one year old!

Hmmm...I don't know, but I don't think they are too good. My mom tried reserving a studio for that week...anywhere...and nothing was available.

She then called CRO to get a moderate resort that week...nope!!! All sold out (at least the "code rates" were gone.) It seems really busy to me.

I think you have a good chance. I got on the waitlist for dec 2-5 for every resort. It took 3 weeks for my waitlist to come through (I got on the waitlist less than 2 months in advance) and I got my first choice! (my second choice also came through)

This stay is for our neighbors. My neighbor has watched my daughter before and after school for 2 years now (I work 2 days per week). Anyway, I know they are on a budget and I hope the waitlist comes through. This was her Christmas Bonus!

It is going to be busy! She called to request Pop Century and one of the other value resorts. She ended up booking All Star Music I think @ the discount code for $55 per night. So, she has 4 nights reserved and I have 4 nights reserved. I hope I can give them the night of the 9th.

They are a family of 4 (kids are 1 and 2). A studio with 2 little ones will be much nicer for them I am sure! I will keep my fingers crossed!

It's funny how in some years wait lists are easier to get then other years. 2004 has been a great year for us wait list- wise. We obtained 4 seperate wait list choices. In 2003, we could not get one! As far as the Marathon goes, the events will fall over 3 days, January 7,8, and 9. Friday, Saturday, Sunday. So, you can figure that people interested in the Marathon, either running themselves, or staying to watch others do it will use a lot of rooms. And you have to figure some folks will work their vacation around that weekend, both before and after the 7th 87h and 9th time frame. In other words, they will be staying the week before and others the week after. So that time period may be a difficult time to wait list. Good luck!

I called this morning to put us on the waitlist for ANY DVC studio for the 5 nights. Jim put me on hold and came back and said my waitlist had come through for OKW! Hooray!!!! I told our friends this morning that they are getting 5 nights @ OKW. Their other 3 nights will be at a value resort.

I am so glad the wait list came through!
