What About Testing Positive Before Returning?

Were booked to visit Quebec in October. Both my hubby and I are vaccinated but the kids are not, obviously. Wonder if thatll mess up our plans at all.

I guess we'll find out in the next couple of weeks what we need to visit Quebec.

At least you'll have time to see what you need to do since your trip is in October. We'll actually be there when the implementation begins.

If we can use our vaccine receipts then we'll go, but if we need something more official, then we've decided we can wait for another time to go.

Make sure you read the fine print on this. My insurance broker was going to sell me the Tugo policy but when they contacted Tugo directly to confirm my policy they told her that the quarantine portion is NOT covered as long as Canada is at a Level 3 or 4 travel advisory. The emergency medical is covered, but not the quarantine portion, which was the coverage I was specifically looking for.

Edited to add this copied and pasted note in Togo's list of exclusions. It's in the very fine print and so easy to miss unfortunately!

  1. An official travel advisory issued by the Canadian government stating to “avoid all travel” regarding the country, region or city of yourdestination, before the date you travel to that destination (including any stopovers, layovers or any other destinations you are transiting through), unless as specified under Trip Interruption Insurance.
Thank you for finding this! I think I will send them a follow-up email regarding whether the US being in the non-essential travel category would make the quarantine coverage void.

YOu're welcome! It could be that the person you spoke to was unaware too? My broker would have had no idea if she hadn't thought to ask specifically about the quarantine portion. I have regular health coverage through my husband's extended benefits so didn't need that. I was specifically looking for the quarantine coverage so fortunately she double checked for me. Please report back if you hear differently! I'd love it if I'm wrong here! I've been refreshing the gov't travel advisory page multiple times per day to see if it's dropped to a level 2 but maybe that won't matter anyway since we booked our trip while the level was still at 3.
