I made the last dish for the cooler/freezer today and DGD said we should eat some now. So we are sitting here chowing down on arroz con gandules y pernil aka PR style rice and pigeon peas with roast pork. Methinks she’s missing NYC food.

I mix in hot giardiniera instead of pickles. We have some really chunky stuff right now, so I chop it smaller. I've also used chopped up pickled jalapenos and juice before I tried the giardiniera. Those whoopie pies look amazing! All of your cookies do.I’m headed to a holiday party. I know the host is making a Turkey, ham, and Mac and cheese. Others will bring food so it will be a fun variety. I made a cookie platter and peppermint whoopie pies.
