Help me out

Now…. with all this being said….. if you want to buy Vero points because the upfront buy in is cheap……and you want to have control of your reservations without going through a 3rd party…..and occasionally you want to peak over at WDW, or Hilton Head, or Aulani to see if there is any availability within 7 months of when you want to travel…..and you are OK riding them into the ground until Jan of 2042…. then we’ll be ready to say “Welcome Home”.

Never paid much attention to HHI availability, but just not taking a look at the availability tables on dvcfieldguide.com, seems to follow a similar pattern as VB availability. Pretty easy availability at 7-months mark for 1 and 2 BRs. 3 BR GVs you probably need to own. Studios are still fairly easy to get at 7-month mark, but a bit less easy than the 1 and 2 BRs. I imagine I'll target a week there at some point, but just doesn't seem like I need to own there unless I wanted a 3 BR GV.

Love Vero beach, if I buy 100 points my wife and I can stay a week every year in a studio. I can buy 100 points for 40$ a point. So, 4,000 dollars over 16 years is 250$ a year and maintenance fees are 1500$ a year. Why would anyone frown on a property as beautiful as Vero beach when you get one week in a studio for 1750$ a year no tax. What am I missing?
This is why we bought Hilton Head last year. We haven’t done Vero Beach yet (planning for a Christmas season trip), but I suspect we will love it as much as you do. The non-park Disney resorts are some of the best, and it’s disappointing there are not more in the DVC collection. We will just enjoy it until the contract ends!

That doesn't hold true in my experience, at least for the dates I wish to travel. I had to buy points there to book rooms when I wanted to travel.

Hilton Head was our first contract because it enabled us to buy into DVC at a very low cost, just to try it out and see if DVC worked for us, before going big on points. Before becoming a DVC owner, we could very rarely even see a cash room open at Hilton Head, and usually just one night of a week. We had only stayed there one time in 5 years of trying. Now that we are owners it has opened up an availability I didn’t know was there, even for last minute trips. Now I have reservations for our 4th of July weekend too.

Also I just paid my annual dues using Sam’s Club Disney gift cards (that also get 5 X rewards with my Discover Card), and my Disney VISA rewards card I had been earning all year. I saved around $500 with my rewards & discounts, so that helped a lot in putting my mind at ease with the extra in dues, along with my Aulani sub contract to balance out the higher rate at Hilton Head.

As pointed out that also hasn’t been our experience either.

At the 7 month window 2 bedrooms are going to be your best bet but even those go fast and they are rarely available for cash either.
