Was just able to change # on ADR at Akershus w/o canceling and rebooking

Just got off the phone with Disney Dining and the most wonderful castmember who was so kind. She reduced the number of people in my party from 8 to 6 without having to cancel and rebook the whole thing.

I was sweating that because I understood you need to cancel the first ADR and then book another, and there didn't appear to be any availablity for Akershus at anytime that would work for us.

So now DGD gets to have her princess meal and I don't have to pay for the two no shows. It is a good day indeed.

And check my counter, we are getting sooo close!

I'm glad it worked out for you! For future reference, this is the way to modify an existing ADR:
Call Disney Dine, say you have a reservation you may want to modify, but you want to check availability, first. They will look up the restaurant and tell you what times/number of guests. If you want to change, THEN give them the ADR number. If you find you just want to keep what you already have, just tell them that.
You never have to cancel what you have before finding out what's currently available.

I had a similiar experience. On my 90 day, I wanted to book CRT for 2 guests @ 4:30pm. I couldn't find anything at anytime for 2 during my entire stay. I had a wild hair and entered 3 guests and - BOOM - on the day i wanted @ 4:15p an ADR came up. I booked it and was charged for the 3 guests. When the phone lines opened, I called DD and I, also, got an Awesome CM. I told her why I booked 3 but really wanted 2. She had me wait a minute on hold and came back and said that she cancelled the 3rd guest and refunded my C.C. for that person and the confirmation # was still the same. She did not have to cancel the whole ADR and make another. I thought that was wonderful. After I got off the phone with her, I went online and pulled up my ADR and, lo and behold, it was there using my original confirmation # and for 2 guests. That was true

My DGD (3.5) loved the dinner at Akershus. The look of excitement on her face everytime she spotted another Princess come into the room is something this Grandma will never forget!
