Want to sell some DVC points however,

I am not selling points currently but I was wondering if I were to do that is it better to secure a vacation say Christmas week? Or sell the points and let the buyer decide the time frame?

Are you talking about selling or RENTING? I get the feeling you're actually talking about renting.

I think it's always best to let the renter decide when he/she/they want to go to Disney.

As DisBuckMan said, it sounds like you are talking about renting your points, in other words, making a reservation with your points and renting that reservation to someone. If you advertise your points for sale, people will think you are selling your contract.

If you book a reservation and try to rent it, you have to find someone who wants the exact dates, resort, room size and booking category you reserved. If you just make your points available for rent, you will cast a wider net.

The only way you could let the renter decide the dates is if you transfer points to another member. Otherwise, you really don't rent points, you rent a reservation.
