Traveling Turkeys Part 2 11/22/08

Well we don't have to worry about all those Christmas decorations...a Hanukak bush perhaps (LOL)?...you would be surprised how many people can be convinced Hanukah bushes are real...

Chuck:cool1:

Looks like both members of the tribe responded at the same time there

It looks like everyone had the same idea about getting ready for the holidays. We just got back from buying a new Christmas tree. I think I was a little too enthusiatic about the space available so may have to go back to the store and downsize it a bit. I am just happy to have lived through Margaret's party!!! :scared1: Eight 13 year old girls can be trying on the ears- apparently they only know how to communicate by screaming. My girls are so quiet that it is always a shock to the system! The party went well and now I can concentrate only on the cruise. DH packed today and the rest of the clothes are stacked up around suitcases. He only has to pack for one while I am packing for 3. The great thing about having Margaret's party at home is that the house is picked up. I only have to run a vacuum and it will be vacation ready. A cold front came through today so no more warm weather for us for this week which means I can do the laundry tomorrow and finish packing.

The T-Shirts arrived today. Cindy - They are great! DH called them "kicky and fun"! Thanks again and I still need to know postage costs!

I also got my December issue of Caribbean Travel and Life. If that doesn't put you in the mood I don't know what will! There's a big article on snorkeling and one of the featured destinations is GC. It looks incredible!

Everybody stop with the Christmas already! We're still over a week out from Thanksgiving!

Come on Susan with all of your energy lately, you can do it. You will feel much better after its all done. Then you can go on the trip and relax.

I'm going to work on DH when he gets in from work tonight. I have had a burst of energy today. Both kids are now completely packed!:thumbsup2 I'm not sure if I'll try to pack DH and myself tonight or not. I have chili and cinnamon rolls cooking, so I might just take the night off and watch a movie. So much to do--so little time. Thank goodness!!!:worship: :cool1:

Judy--maybe we can both try to turn over a new leaf and get in the car to leave for this vacation without any of the rest of our family members scowling at us.:lmao: Do you think we can do it? I'm doubtful I can.:rotfl2:

I agree! However, I am watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas right now. ;) I can't help myself, I love the Grinch.

You people are way too prepared for Christmas! We still get live trees, so we'll get one at the beginning of December. We'll put up lights and stuff when we get back from the cruise. I have way too much laundry and packing to do for the cruise to waste any energy on something so far away.

Mackenzie is upset ith us. Both Bob and I have to work Christmas EVE and DAY. Unfortunately, hospitals don't cl0ose for the holidays. AND with us working Mother/baby and the Emergency Department, we can't go by the census and holiday down time. So she is like "Why have Christmas, You have to work anyway" At least she knows the true meaning, AND she figured IT out about a month ago.

Picked up SIL today. She is so excited. I saw the Thanksgiving activities that they may have in the clubs--candy cane reindeer, stockings, etc. I am hoping that they will let her participate in the activities.

3 more days of work and we're done.

Got our FE's finished today. Just can't wait to hang them up.

I've already seperated my scrapbooking supplies into categories of Mickey and friends, Princesses, cruise ship, Mexico, Islands and Amtrak. So that when we get back, I can get the photos developed and start scrapbooking. For my Christmas present from Bob, my parents and myself, we are making a new playroom for the girls and turning the present playroom into a scrapbooking hideaway. A friend of my dads does woodwork, and he has made me a ribbon holder out of poplar and is making a 28 section shelf unit to hold my containers of paper and stickers. I already have shelves for my equipment. I have a 6 foot table, but I will be looking at Lowes and Home Depot for a counter top and cabinets for each end.

I have 3 memory cards for my camera, Bob has 3 for his. We bought Kenzie a digital camera that she can take to the clubs that holds 273 pictures. I have my old film camera for Melinda and 13 rolls of film for her. Costco is going to love us. Especially since we'll be getting doubles of many of them.

Have a great Sunday everyone. We'll be working. AND DREAMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well the 4th grade science project is proceeding nicely - Will it Jell? - thus our frig is filled with, what else, jello..the test is to see what fruit works in jello and what does not..Lisa and Mason spent most of the afternoon making and mixing jello...

Ok, I'm even more excited about the trip after seeing this information about the holiday activities on board.

Onboard:

"King Triton's Tree Lighting" nightly in the atrium. A child will assist the Disney characters as the three-deck-tall tree is lit

Special holiday crafts which could include making holiday cards, decorating stockings, creating holiday animation cells
Traditional holiday dinners in the three themed dining rooms
Holiday edition of "Till We Meet Again"
Castaway Cay:

Holiday Carolers, Christmas trees, Character meet and greets and "snow flurries" on Disney's private island
Kids crafts to include making candy cane reindeer, snowflake mobiles and paper plate angels
Thanksgiving Day: a Thanksgiving feast will be served. Mickey and Minnie will be meeting and greeting guests while dressed in traditional Thanksgiving garb. Kids will enjoy holiday crafts and the Ariel View Jumbotron TV on Deck 9 will feature the NFL football games being broadcast that day.

I know one - pineapple doesn't work in jello! I know this because it says not to use pineapple on the Jello box! :lmao: Did you know there is a Jello museum in New York? It's not too far from Darian Lake.

Susan - I've been getting scowls all day! My OCD is in overdrive and I must admit I have been kinda hard to live with lately! I am trying to calm myself down but I'm very excited!

I made wings and fries for dinner. I just put everything in the fridge and DH and DS just went out to get food. I was told dinner was "gross". This happens frequently so my feelings are over being hurt! I'm having Alpha Bits for dinner!:thumbsup2

Tomorrow is DH birthday and we'll take him out for dinner so I'll have one decent meal this weekend. I have to get up early and go to Dairy Queen for his cake and the mall for the rest of his presents.
I'm off to get my cereal - have a good evening everyone!
Judy

Shay - no mention of making little gingerbread houses, eh? I may have to buy a kit and make one when I get home.

This sounds like so much fun! Thanks for the info!

Good Morning!
Less than a week now! It's cold and rain/snow mix here. It will be nice to see the sun again.
Deb's All Ears wesite has an article about activities on board as well as info about MVMCP.:santa: It has the same info about on board activities Shay just posted. There are some nice pictures of the Christmas party and the castle in it's twinkle lights.
Chuck - I'm curious. Is there any other fruit that you can't put in Jello besides pineapple? My mother use to put shredded carrots and celery in lemon Jello with a blob of mayonnaise on top and expect us to eat it. No one would touch it but she kept making it!:scared1:
Have a geat day.
Make good choices.
Be kind.
If you live in the north - stay warm!:cold:

Judy,

Its in the low 50's here this morning and supposed to get near freezing toninght . . . I feel your pain! Especially after the mayo topped jello story . . .how did you survive that?

WOW, where did you find this stuff?

It was listed on the front page of the disboards under DCL Holiday Activities. It sounds like so much fun.

You'd appreciate this Ken. My DH did freelance video for the Gator game yesterday. When he was in the locker room, he said all the football stuff paled in comparison to who was there. Jimmy Buffett. He said he didn't get to go talk to Mr. Margaritaville, but he was in total awe. DH said the reporters were even buzzing about it, no one knew why JB was there.

As to the weather next week, at the port, just remember that throwing darts blindfolded can be just as accurate as predicting the weather in Florida...also, low 70's in Florida with the sun out can be very nice weather...the sun is much more intense here than up north.

Chuck:cool1:
Okay Chuck you sound like a friend who refuses to believe Saturday's forecast. She said they cannot correctly predict today's weather let alone 7 days out. :)

We just got done with the unthinkable. We usually wait till the 4 day weekend at Thanksgiving to take down the Christmas stuff from the attic and start putting it up. .

Sadly, we hung our lights outside on Veteran's Day and finished lights and garland on the tree. I do not like cramming it in when we get back,.

Well the 4th grade science project is proceeding nicely - Will it Jell? - thus our frig is filled with, what else, jello..the test is to see what fruit works in jello and what does not..Lisa and Mason spent most of the afternoon making and mixing jello...

Science Projects....yuck!!!!

Good morning! I didn't get much farther last night with the cruise packing or the Christmas tree. I just have to pack Brian and myself. That shouldn't be as hard as packing the kids.

It's supposed to be pretty nice here today--in the mid to upper 50's. It was freezing here yesterday! We're getting ready for church and then DD has volleyball practice this afternoon. I'm going to try to talk my family in to sneaking up to Lawrence to get a few things before DD's volleyball practice. Wish me luck. I may be going by myself, but that's okay too.;)

I'm to the point where I don't get a full nights sleep. I've been waking up around 4:00 a.m. for the last four mornings. I think I'm thinking about what all I need to do to get ready for the trip or something. When I wake up, I start thinking about everything and then I just toss and turn. Hopefully next week by this time that will have all passed. It's wearing me out!

Hope everyone has a good day. The realization that this trip is pretty much here has hit my family. When my kids come in and tell me how many more days until the trip, you know it's just around the corner!

Susan

Parrothead! Sweet. I would have been all over myself! And probably would have said something like "Hey Jimmy! Sing!".

Ken - The veggie jello was only one of the crazy things she use to make. She use to make Limburger and onion sandwiches. I stayed outside those days. It stunk so bad. She loves to cook and was a very good cook actually. She is a registered dietitian also but she's 87 now and her taste buds are failing her. She puts a ton of seasoning and salt in everything and you have to be careful when you eat at her house! When I was visiting her a few weeks ago she was making massive quantities of deviled eggs with hot sauce. Like almost 2 dozen for just the 2 of us!:lmao:
