Traveling Turkeys Part 2 11/22/08

and every time i see the name Griswalds, I can't help but think of the Chevy Chase movie...but that is a positive...(i hope i got the right movie)

Checking bottled water can be an iffy proposition from what i have heard, but you can always buy the "water package" if yours does not make it aboard.

That's Clark Griswald and you have the right movies (National Lampoon Vacation movies)

Linda - We'll talk tomorrow.
It's crazy around here tonight so I decided to do a fast food run. DH wanted KFC, DS wanted McD. Got home and both orders were wrong! I was so flipped I got back in the car to right a wrong and get their orders corrected. At McD I told the manager that my time and gas is valuable and the least he could do is give me hot french fries because the others are cold. He did and he also put 2 coupons for 2 free value meals in the bag. Then to KFC. Got back home and KFC screwed up even worse. I told DH to eat what he had and be glad they have food to eat. The whole time, 2 trips and I forgot to order my dinner! I ate a bowl of Corn Pops.

We're bringing sweatshirts with us. Actually that might be what we wear from here. I hate taking heavy winter coats if we can get away without them.

We got an okay view from way over here. It still is very cool to watch that orange ball fly by the full moon. My in-law's were there for the launch. I hope to make it someday.

What a fiasco for the launch. I had my camera all set up to get the shuttle passing near the full moon. My neighbor and her 2 dogs came down to join us and the dogs took off running and pulled her to the ground and she twisted her knee. I think she will be okay. The launch ended up being blocked by clouds over here, so I'll have to settle for the video on the 10:00 news.

Will a big fat tip turn iffy into probable? ;) I always budget a healthy porter tip. Not a single bottle of beer was harmed in my rolling cooler last time. My water cases were in perfect condition. I told him he could have one of the beers, but I'd better not open up an empty cooler upon it's arrival.

I don't like Evian water....and even more I don't like paying $40+ for a case of water. :rotfl: I made that mistake on the first cruise.

That's exactly who we are. My favorite movie of all time. When we pull up on two wheels and hit the curb I always announce "Griswalds are here". It's a family joke now, when the kids were younger and we got strollers at WDW I always put Griswalds on our tag. The funny part is the kids just accepted that's who we are at WDW.

Cruisecrzy, thanks for all your help. I knew I was anal but until now didn't realized the extent.

Laura

your cooler should be fine - i always wheel mine w/me..

well it was a good guess on the Griswalds

and including the other thread, we are at about 4250 total...going to come close to 2005 when we got over 5000 posts...as compared to a couple of threads where we barely got a couple hundred

We are talkers aren't we? :hyper2: :chat: I was thinking last night that for me, a big part of the magic of this trip is going to be meeting everybody! We do have a great group and everyone has been so helpful and willing to share.

Chuck - When you go to Wilkes-Barre this week make sure you take your jacket. The NE is having a cold snap starting today, including snow, (it was 62 yesterday and upper 30's today) and it's going to continue all week. Have safe trip!

Ken - sorry to hear about your shuttle launch debacle. I hope your neighbor is ok! I tried to watch the launch last night and our local stations did not show it. I'll check it out online today.

I did not get a return phone call yesterday from Treva from DCL. I don't know if she's working today but I'll continue to call her until I get through. As soon as I have a location I'll post it!

One week from today folks! We'll all be scurrying around trying to get all of the last minute details together!

Have a great day.
Make good choices.
Be kind.

Good Morning all . . . . Judy, I dont see that as a bad thing, I am almost looking forward to scurrying around with something OTHER than work!!

I noticed some of you have gotten your shirts, I mailed them USPS priority mail in 3 batches. The last to go out were Shay's and Jim's so they probably won't see theirs until Monday but I think everyone else will get theirs today. Most of the orders are packed in yellow bubble envelopes.

Let me know if you don't get them today and I'll check on them, I know we are short on time. :hourglass

One of my friends made the design and another screened them. They are so happy with how they turned out that they framed one and it is hanging in the front of their shop!

Off to the gym now.... :yay:

I hear ya! I'm getting ready to go out to buy all of the last minute things (batteries, film, etc) and I have been looking forward to it all week! Who in their right mind looks forward to Walmart on Saturday?:rotfl2: We have sickness!

Cool beans, Sandy! :thumbsup2

So they definitely aren't taking cases of water with checked luggage? I was hoping to slap a luggage tag on ours. It made it just fine last time. I read a report that someone did have a porter take hers without any problems, however, I couldn't get anyone else to confirm it.

Yes, they are taking the cases of water. See your PM I am going to send you some info.

Laura,
Glad you could use the info,

Chuck,
Thanks for the translation on the nights to actually day....I did not have a lot of time when I did it. Also, we got email today and Colby's date to move to the Magic was changed to Nov. 22 :guilty: :sad2: If they only extended him one more week Jessica would have been so happy. Now I have the job of telling her he cannot come to our house since we won't be there and she cannot visit it him at his Mickey home....we will use the 7 more days until Mickey Boat to make her happy

We had a great view of the launch. We saw the "flame" streak across the moon and it was beautiful. The landing date it coincidentally Nov. 29 So a lot of the Northerners will be here for the Sonic Boom....the kids can take that back to school as "science I experienced on my vacation"

Well off to go shopping.

7 days from right now we will have all our luggage packed in the car as we drive up to the Port. :cool1: I think I'll pack this weekend so that I'm sure to not wear something I want for the cruise. I keep eyeing that long candy apple red ballgown for my next run to Publix. :rotfl2:

Shay - I'm sure you'd look stunning in the produce isle!!

Michelle - Any idea what time the shuttle landing will be? We'll be in the Orlando airport until 3:00pm.

Off to Walmart, haircut, Petco, RiteAid, Shop and Save, AAA and the mall!! I'll be home around midnight!
Judy

Good morning! I got up early this morning to start in on the laundry and am also heading to Wal-Mart before long to get our last minute trip supplies. On another note, we have two boxer dogs that are in BIG trouble!

They escaped their pen last night and one got completely drenched by a skunk. The other is trapped somewhere in our huge hayshed in the hay somewhere. My husband can hear her but can't find her. I hope he doesn't have to start removing all of the hay to get to her because he might kill her when he finds her (not really). A boxer we had in the past fell through the hay bales and broke his leg bad, so I'm hoping that Sassy isn't hurt when Brian finally gets to her. They keep our lives interesting, that's for sure.

I think we'll just chance it with sweatshirts as far as the weather goes. Michelle--I did laugh when I read that you'd go outside for me when it was around 50 degrees.:lmao: I appreciate that!

November 29th at 2:00 PM, Keep your fingers crossed!!

Dog update: Brian found Sassy in a long, tall hole in between the hay bales. He used a tree trimming pole to try to reach her. He said he was able to hook her collar and pull her up. I asked him if it about choked her to death and his response was, "I hope so". I don't think I'm messing with my DH today.:lmao: The dog is fine though--thank goodness!

Susan - I'm so glad your dog is fine. They are a lot of fuss and bother but we love them anyway don't we! My neighbor has 2 Boxers and they are a couple of rough and tumble guys.
Ken - Thanks for the shuttle info. I double checked and our flight is out of MCO at 3:45. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We should be able to hear it there, right? Any chance of seeing it? We saw a launch from WDW a year ago and it was amazing even at that distance.

Now I'm really leaving to start my incredible journey!

Judy:drive: :donald:
